Yes—with the right Ryobi product. Ryobi’s UK listing rates its dedicated ONE+ RJSC18-0 jump starter for petrol engines up to 6L, which includes a 4.0L petrol V6 by displacement. That rating does not mean a bare Ryobi 18V battery can jump-start a car, or guarantee that the tool will start a specific vehicle.
Which Ryobi product can jump-start a 4.0L V6?
Ryobi documents a purpose-built jump starter, the ONE+ RJSC18-0. Ryobi’s UK product listing specifies support for petrol engines up to 6L, so a 4.0L petrol V6 is within the stated displacement limit. The listing also gives up to 1800A peak output and says the tool uses ultra-capacitor technology. These are manufacturer specifications, not an independent test result or a guarantee of starting performance in every vehicle or condition.
The listing describes the RJSC18-0 as a bare tool: a compatible ONE+ battery and charger are not included. The page is for the UK market; confirm the model, battery details and instructions for your region before use.

No. Ryobi’s listed limits differ by fuel type: the RJSC18-0 is rated for petrol engines up to 6L and diesel engines up to 5L. A 4.0L diesel is within the published displacement limit, but—as with the petrol rating—that alone does not establish that a particular vehicle will start.

Why a bare 18V battery or Ryobi inverter is not the same thing
A Ryobi ONE+ battery is the power source for compatible tools; Ryobi’s documented vehicle-starting product is the separate RJSC18-0 jump starter. Do not connect a bare battery to a vehicle’s battery terminals as a substitute for a jump starter.

A Ryobi inverter is also a different product. The cited 120W inverter manual describes AC and USB power for compatible devices, along with electrical and fuse safety instructions; it does not describe the inverter as an engine-starting device. Use a jump starter designed for the vehicle instead.
Check compatibility and follow the safety instructions
Ryobi’s guide limits the jump starter to 12V systems. It identifies vehicle voltage above 13V as an error condition and instructs users to stop if the product’s internal temperature is too high. Check your vehicle’s operating instructions and the manual for the exact jump-starter model before connecting anything.

In the RJSC18 manual’s standard procedure, vehicle electrical loads are turned off, the positive clamp is connected before the negative clamp, and the tool is primed. Wait for the start indicator before attempting to start the vehicle. When disconnecting, remove the negative clamp first. Follow the complete manual rather than relying on this outline.
The manual warns that override mode disables spark-prevention and reverse-polarity protections. Ryobi says to use it with extreme caution; do not treat it as a routine shortcut. Stop if the tool signals an error or the vehicle does not meet the manual’s requirements.

How to choose between the Ryobi jump starter and another unit
Compare the vehicle’s voltage, fuel type and engine displacement with the exact jump starter’s published compatibility. Also check the protections and procedure described in its manual, local product availability, and whether a battery and charger are included. The cited Ryobi listing is UK-specific and excludes both battery and charger, so regional packaging or specifications may differ.
