Yes, potentially—but a replay must actually be captured and available, and the channel and content must qualify for monetization. YouTube says eligible live streams and live replays can earn Watch Page ad and YouTube Premium revenue. But it also warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A single uninterrupted 24/7 stream therefore cannot be relied on to produce a complete archive or replay ad revenue.
How archived-playback revenue works
Live viewers and people watching a replay can generate revenue under YouTube’s Watch Page monetization rules. To earn ad and YouTube Premium revenue from long-form or live videos viewed on the Watch Page, a creator must accept YouTube’s Watch Page Monetization Module. The content must also have monetization enabled and meet applicable policies.
YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance says creators can review ad revenue from live streams and live replays in YouTube Analytics. That confirms replay revenue is possible; it does not promise ads on every view. As YouTube puts it, “Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve ads.”
The 24/7 archive problem: YouTube’s 12-hour warning
YouTube says it can automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours. Its archive guidance warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” See Archive live streams.
#1 Best Overall
This is an archive-capture caveat, not a rule that makes a stream ineligible for monetization after 12 hours. The published guidance does not establish how YouTube divides a continuous 24/7 event, whether it will preserve any particular portion, or whether a workaround guarantees a complete video-on-demand replay. Treat the archive outcome for one uninterrupted 24/7 event as uncertain. Without a captured replay, there is no archived playback on which to earn replay revenue.
What a channel needs to qualify
For the standard long-form route to the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), YouTube lists 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 valid public watch hours in the previous 12 months. Its YPP overview also lists an alternative route of 1,000 subscribers and 10 million valid public Shorts views in 90 days. These are entry thresholds, not automatic approval: the channel must meet other requirements and pass YouTube’s review.
Rank #2
- Watch hours from livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to VOD do not count toward the 4,000-hour threshold, according to YouTube’s YPP overview.
- YPP membership alone does not guarantee ads on every video or replay. The relevant monetization module must be accepted, monetization must be enabled, and ads must actually be served.
- YouTube says it may turn off monetization for channels that have not uploaded a video or posted to the Posts tab for six months or more.
YouTube’s YPP overview currently notes updated terms scheduled to take effect February 1, 2027, with creators directed to review and accept them by January 31, 2027. Because that date is in the future, check the current overview and terms if you are making a decision near or after that change.

YPP eligibility is assessed at the channel level, but individual content must still comply with YouTube’s monetization policies and advertiser-friendly guidelines. A replay can exist yet earn no ad revenue if it is not monetized, is unsuitable for ads, or does not receive ad impressions.

Repetitive or mass-produced programming
YouTube’s channel monetization policies call repetitive or mass-produced material “inauthentic content.” The July 15, 2025 clarification says monetized videos should provide distinct creative, educational, or other value. That does not mean every 24/7 stream is automatically disqualified: YouTube evaluates channels and content in context. A long schedule of near-identical loops may raise a policy concern, so make the programming meaningfully varied and valuable rather than assuming duration or continuous availability makes it eligible.
Rights for both the live stream and its replay
You need the rights required for everything in the stream, including music and other third-party material, and those rights must cover the archived version too. YouTube’s livestream terms address necessary rights for live content and the treatment of archived content under the applicable agreement. Do not assume that permission to use a track in one context automatically covers a livestream, its VOD, or monetization.

What to check before relying on replay income
- Confirm YPP status and module acceptance. Check YouTube Studio’s Earn area and make sure the Watch Page Monetization Module has been accepted for the channel.
- Enable monetization for the content. Verify the stream or replay’s monetization setting; channel membership by itself is not enough.
- Plan for archive uncertainty. YouTube’s published guidance does not assure capture for a continuous event beyond 12 hours. Do not budget on a complete 24-hour replay unless you can verify that a replay was actually created and remains available.
- Review content and rights. Ensure the programming has distinct value, meets advertiser-friendly rules, and is cleared for both live transmission and archived playback.
- Check Analytics after the event. YouTube provides revenue reporting for live streams and live replays. Use the reported replay revenue rather than assuming every replay view generated an ad.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded videos playing on YouTube without leaving a computer running, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera feed. The cloud keeps the stream running with your computer off; uploads stream as made up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and the service can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. These operational features do not guarantee that YouTube will capture a 24/7 archive or monetize it.
