TeamViewer’s 2024 AI Opportunity Report points to a shift in business leaders’ priorities: less excitement about AI in the abstract, more demand for practical applications. In the U.S. findings reported by Dark Reading, 65% of business leaders said they were tired of AI hype and wanted practical implementation. The figures describe respondents’ views and reported experiences—not independently verified proof that AI delivered the business results they expected.

What the TeamViewer study found

The report surveyed 1,400 IT, business and operational technology decision-makers across the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, Singapore and the United States. Dark Reading identifies 500 respondents in the U.S. and says Sapio Research conducted the online survey in August and September 2024. The figures below are findings from TeamViewer’s report as described by Dark Reading and, for the international results, by TeamViewer’s October 29, 2024 announcement.

Finding What respondents said
AI adoption and use in the U.S. 80% of U.S. business leaders considered their organization’s AI adoption mature. 81% of U.S. decision-makers said they used AI at least weekly, up from 60% the prior year.
Demand for practical implementation in the U.S. 65% of U.S. business leaders said they were tired of AI hype and wanted practical implementations.
Financial expectations in the U.S. 72% of U.S. leaders thought AI was vital to financial outcomes, and 66% expected a positive revenue effect in the next year. Respondents said AI made average revenue growth of 249% possible; this was an expectation, not observed growth.
Efficiency and productivity In TeamViewer’s international survey summary, 75% of respondents said AI was essential to business efficiency, and 69% believed it would drive the biggest productivity boom in a century. IT professionals also reported saving an average of 16 hours per month through AI.

These results are a snapshot of respondents’ attitudes and self-reports from 2024, not a measure of AI adoption in 2026 or a controlled evaluation of business performance. The published accounts describe the countries, broad respondent groups and field period, but do not provide the full questionnaire or detailed sampling and weighting information. The claimed productivity and financial effects were not independently validated in the cited accounts.

What “tangible AI results” means for a business

The survey’s headline is about a preference for practical uses, not a tested definition of success. A company considering AI can make “tangible” concrete by identifying the work that should change and the evidence that would count as an improvement.

  • Name the task. Specify the workflow, such as summarizing a support session or drafting a handover, rather than setting a broad goal to “use AI.”
  • Choose a measurable outcome. Decide whether to track elapsed time, rework, error rates, service quality or another task-relevant measure. Establish a baseline before comparing results.
  • Check the trade-offs. Account for review time, integration effort, data handling and the consequences of incorrect output—not just the time an automated step appears to save.
  • Set boundaries and owners. Determine what information the tool can process, who can use it, who reviews its output and who is responsible if it is wrong.

Those are decision questions for evaluating an implementation; they are not outcomes measured by TeamViewer’s survey.

Why governance is part of the practical-results story

The U.S. responses show that enthusiasm did not remove concerns about control. Dark Reading reports that 75% of U.S. business leaders were concerned about data management in AI use, while 67% would consider banning AI use outside IT. The article also says 50% trusted AI with business forecasts and decisions, and 42% trusted AI to make decisions without human oversight.

These figures describe respondents’ reported concerns and trust, not the security of any particular AI tool or a consensus among all U.S. companies. They suggest why an implementation plan needs clear rules for permitted data, access, human review and oversight alongside a productivity target.

TeamViewer’s example: AI-assisted remote support

TeamViewer’s October 29, 2024 announcement introduced Session Insights, an AI feature for remote-support sessions. The company described automatic session summaries and analytics intended to help with handovers and decision-making. Dark Reading reported that Session Insights was being added to TeamViewer Tensor and named Microsoft Teams and ServiceNow integrations.

This is an example of the kind of bounded operational task behind the report’s practical-results framing: turning a support session into a summary and information that can be used afterward. The stated benefits are TeamViewer’s product claims. The cited announcement and article do not independently establish performance, security, return on investment or present-day availability and packaging; confirm current details with TeamViewer before relying on them.

How to read the study’s claims

The 2024 report offers evidence about what a surveyed group of decision-makers said, not proof that AI caused better business outcomes. Keep the distinction clear when interpreting its most striking numbers:

  • Adoption maturity and weekly use are respondent assessments and reports for the U.S. subgroup, not a census of U.S. organizations.
  • Expected revenue effects and the 249% growth figure reflect respondents’ expectations about what AI could enable; they are not measured revenue growth or a validated forecast.
  • Time savings are self-reported by IT professionals in TeamViewer’s survey summary, not independently measured across deployments.
  • Session Insights’ benefits and safeguards are descriptions from the vendor, not independent product testing.

TeamViewer Chief Product and Technology Officer Mei Dent also described the feature as supporting smarter decisions and claimed that the company’s encryption and administrator controls protect data and support policy enforcement. Those are statements from a company executive, not independent verification of the product’s security or results.
