Chicago Bulls rookie forward Caleb Wilson says the pace and athleticism of NBA practices felt intense during his first two days, but Friday was more relaxed and positive. That is an early snapshot of his adjustment—not a detailed account of a technical change or a prediction of how his NBA season will go.
What Wilson said about his first NBA practices
In a report published October 2, 2026, CBS Sports said Wilson found the first two days fast because he was facing NBA-level talent and athletic players, and because gaps closed quickly. Describing Friday, he said: “But now, it’s way more chill. [Friday] was a really good day for me.”
The NBA player profile’s October 2 news item attributes the report to K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network; CBS Sports supplies the remarks. Wilson’s description indicates that the pace felt more manageable by Friday, but the reports do not identify a particular adjustment he made or suggest that he had a problem with the team.

What his Summer League performance adds—and what it does not
Wilson’s earlier 2026 Summer League results offer context for his basketball résumé, but they are separate from his current practice experience. The Bulls reported that he made the 2026 NBA All-Summer League First Team and averaged 23.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 2.5 blocks in 27.7 minutes across four games.

Those are Summer League figures, not NBA regular-season statistics. They do not establish how Wilson will perform in the coming season or quantify how quickly he is adapting to NBA practices.
Wilson’s place in the Bulls’ 2026-27 plans
Wilson was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. In its September 22, 2026 season preview, NBA.com identified Tiago Splitter as the Bulls’ new head coach and described Wilson as part of the team’s youth-focused group. That context identifies his place on the roster; it does not explain why Friday’s practice felt better.

In introductory comments from June, Wilson spoke generally about being willing to work on improvements he needed to make. Those remarks were not specific to the October practice report.
What is not yet established about his adjustment
The October reports provide Wilson’s brief reaction to the speed, athleticism, and closing gaps he encountered, but no practice transcript, detailed workout data, or official Bulls statement about this specific adjustment. They also do not provide a quantified measure of improvement. The clearest supported conclusion is limited: Wilson said the first days felt fast and Friday felt more relaxed and positive.
