A Telegram downloader can run on a small VPS only if its workload is controlled; “1 GB” alone does not establish how many downloads it can handle. The useful design is to separate the bot interface, download engine, and any media processing, then limit concurrent jobs and measure memory, CPU, storage, and delivery behavior under your own traffic. This guide shows that architecture and uses a public yt-dlp Telegram bot as a reference—not as evidence of Video Qash Bot’s implementation or performance.
What a 1 GB VPS can—and cannot—tell you
A VPS advertised with 1 GB of RAM is a deployment constraint, not a capacity benchmark. The available evidence does not establish Video Qash Bot’s server provider, workload, peak memory, throughput, uptime, or concurrent-job count. It therefore cannot support a claim that the bot reliably handles a particular number of users or downloads.
To describe a real scaling result, record what was running and what happened: simultaneous requests, media length and format, whether streams were merged or converted, peak memory and CPU, temporary disk use, network transfer, and whether jobs completed, failed, or queued. Without those measurements, treat the 1 GB figure as context and the design below as an implementation pattern—not a measured account of the named bot.
How the downloader pipeline fits together
Keep the system’s responsibilities distinct. The Telegram bot accepts a URL, checks it against policy, and manages job status. A downloader such as yt-dlp resolves and retrieves media. A media-processing step may merge streams or extract audio. The bot then returns the resulting file or a clear failure message.

- Receive and validate: accept a supported message type, parse the submitted URL, and reject invalid or disallowed domains before starting work.
- Queue the job: apply per-user and global concurrency limits so a burst does not launch an unbounded number of downloads.
- Download: invoke the downloader with a deliberate format policy and a temporary working directory.
- Process only when needed: merge separate audio and video streams or perform an explicitly requested conversion.
- Deliver and clean up: send the result through the chosen Telegram method, report errors, and remove temporary files according to a defined retention policy.
Choose dependencies for the actual job
yt-dlp runtime
The yt-dlp project README, accessed October 7, 2026, says it supports Python 3.10+ on CPython and 3.11+ on PyPy. It lists ffmpeg, ffprobe, yt-dlp-ejs, and a supported JavaScript runtime among highly recommended dependencies; it says yt-dlp-ejs is required for full YouTube support. The README names Deno, Node.js, Bun, and QuickJS as runtime options. These requirements can change, so check the README for the exact yt-dlp release you deploy: yt-dlp dependencies.
FFmpeg and format selection
Separate audio and video streams must be merged for a single combined output, and yt-dlp documents that merging requires FFmpeg. The project also supports selecting formats using metadata such as resolution, size, and codec. Choosing lower-resolution or simpler formats may be a useful way to bound output size and processing work, but the documentation does not establish a specific RAM or CPU saving for any choice.
Install the FFmpeg binary when your workflow needs merging or processing; a Python package with a similar name is not a substitute. Avoid enabling conversions by default unless they serve a clear feature, because conversion adds work beyond downloading and delivery.

Control concurrency before trying to scale
On a constrained machine, the first practical control is limiting how much work can run at once. A public reference project, yt-dlp-telegram, documents per-user and global concurrent-download settings; excess global requests are queued FIFO. That is a useful pattern, not proof of the settings or behavior in Video Qash Bot.

- Set a per-user limit to prevent one account from monopolizing the worker.
- Set a global limit to cap simultaneous download and processing jobs.
- Queue excess jobs and expose their status rather than silently dropping them.
- Keep temporary files isolated per job and remove them on both success and failure.
- Log failures and resource peaks so limits can be adjusted against observed workload rather than guessed capacity.
The cited reference README lists YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, and Bluesky support, along with video, audio extraction, image/gallery downloads, custom formats, cookies, optional logging, a domain allowlist, and Docker support. Those are claims about that repository, not a confirmed platform list for Video Qash Bot, and extractor availability can change. Its documented local setup calls for Python 3.11+ and FFmpeg; its Docker setup calls for Docker and Docker Compose. Those are project-specific instructions, not universal requirements for every Telegram bot.
Plan Telegram delivery and file handling
Telegram’s general Terms of Service page says its services include file uploads up to 2 GB and points users of optional features to additional terms, including Bot Users and Bot Developers terms: Telegram Terms of Service. That statement is not a complete specification for every bot delivery method. Before setting a maximum output size, verify the current Bot API documentation and the terms applicable to your account and feature.

Large outputs also consume disk while being prepared and network capacity while being transferred. Set a maximum job size appropriate to the delivery method, check free temporary storage before starting work, and return a useful error when a file cannot be delivered. The available sources do not establish what size or transfer rate a particular 1 GB VPS can sustain.
Operate the VPS with observable limits
Measure the system while representative jobs run. Track memory, CPU, temporary storage, download duration, transfer duration, and queue depth. Test the formats and media lengths your users actually request, including simultaneous jobs and failure cleanup. Increase the concurrency limit only when the observed headroom and completion behavior justify it; if the queue grows or the host runs short of resources, reduce concurrent work or move processing elsewhere.

For an honest account of scaling Video Qash Bot, publish the test conditions and outcomes rather than turning the VPS size into a headline performance claim. Useful evidence includes the VPS configuration and region, software versions, job mix, number of concurrent requests, peak resource readings, and what happened to jobs that exceeded the limit.
Respect platform rules and media rights
A URL being downloadable does not itself grant permission to download, retain, or redistribute the media. Check the relevant platform terms and obtain any rights-holder permission required for the intended use. Telegram’s FAQ says copyright complaints about infringing public bots, channels, sticker sets, or other public content should be submitted by the copyright owner or an authorized agent: Telegram FAQ. That platform process does not determine whether a particular download is lawful.
