Buddy Bronze is an Australian injury-and-illness policy for cats and dogs, with a reported annual benefit limit of $11,000 and 70% of eligible vet bills covered per claim. That makes it the lowest-limit tier in Buddy’s three-plan lineup. Whether it is suitable depends on the policy wording, your pet’s circumstances and the premium in your quote—not the tier name alone.
What Buddy Bronze covers
CHOICE describes Buddy Bronze as comprehensive injury and illness cover for cats and dogs. Its accessible product page reports an $11,000 maximum benefit per year and 70% of the vet bill covered per claim. It identifies PetSure (Australia) Pty Ltd as the underwriter. CHOICE’s Buddy Bronze page also lists an excess choice of $0 or $200.
Buddy’s 2025 policy booklet lists accidental injury, illness, emergency pet boarding and eligible travel to New Zealand and Norfolk Island among the benefits. The booklet says its benefit table is a summary, not a complete account of policy terms, conditions or exclusions. Read the current Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and your certificate of insurance to establish exactly what is covered for your policy.
How much does Buddy Bronze pay?
The reported 70% benefit is a reimbursement percentage, not a promise that the insurer will pay 70% of every invoice. The applicable excess, eligibility rules, exclusions, condition limits and annual cap can affect the amount payable. CHOICE reports the 70% figure per claim and an $11,000 maximum annual benefit; confirm how the current PDS applies those terms to your claims.
#1 Best Overall
CHOICE lists a two-day waiting period for injury, 30 days for illness and six months for cruciate ligament conditions. These are details reported on its product page, not a substitute for checking the waiting periods and definitions in the live PDS.
Bronze vs Silver vs Gold
Buddy’s 2025 policy booklet gives the following benefit limits per policy period:
Rank #2
| Plan | Maximum benefit per policy period |
|---|---|
| Bronze | $11,000 |
| Silver | $20,000 |
| Gold | $35,000 |
The limits distinguish the tiers, but they do not establish which plan is the better value. Compare the current premium and the terms that matter for your pet, including reimbursement, excess, waiting periods and any condition-specific restrictions. The 2025 booklet also describes optional Booster Care, with a stated $2,000 benefit for specified dental conditions and specialised therapies, and optional Routine Care, with a stated $100 benefit. Check the current PDS for eligibility and terms before treating either option as available or suitable.
What does Buddy Bronze cost?
There is no single premium established here for every pet. Finder’s page, updated March 11, 2026, shows sample annual quotes for a five-year-old dog using defined breed, location and policy assumptions. Finder notes that price varies with factors including breed, age, location, selected cover and excess. Those examples are not a typical premium or a quote for your pet. Request a current quote using the same pet and address when comparing plans.

Is Buddy Bronze worth considering?
Bronze may be worth considering if its quoted premium and policy terms suit your budget and the level of cover you want. Its $11,000 annual cap is lower than Buddy’s listed Silver and Gold limits, so consider whether that limit and the applicable claim rules fit your needs. This evidence supports a comparison among Buddy’s tiers, not a ranking against the wider pet insurance market.

What to check before buying
- Read the current PDS and your certificate of insurance for the exact benefit limits, exclusions, excess and claim conditions.
- Check waiting periods, pre-existing condition rules and any limits or restrictions that apply to particular conditions.
- Confirm whether optional benefits, such as Booster Care or Routine Care, are available on your quote and what their terms cover.
- Get a current quote for your pet and address, then compare it with other policies using the same cover assumptions.
Buddy’s target market determination says it is not financial product advice and is not a summary of contract terms; Buddy identifies the PDS as the document setting out those terms. The Buddy Pet Insurance website is the place to locate current product documents and quote information. The booklet figures above are a summary, so use the live documents—not a comparison page alone—to decide what a policy will pay.
