The Brother HL-L8570CDW is a business color laser printer with sharp text, detailed graphics, and brisk long-document printing. ITPro’s June 3, 2026 review found its measured speeds close to the printer’s 31-page-per-minute class rating on text jobs, though complex color pages ran slower. Running-cost figures look competitive in the cited UK review and Brother Japan’s market-specific estimates, but they are not directly comparable across regions. The main trade-off is upkeep: toner is only one of several replaceable supplies, so high-volume owners should plan for parts and supply tracking as well as cartridge costs.
What kind of printer is the HL-L8570CDW?
It is a print-only business color laser printer, rather than a multifunction device. Brother’s US specifications list printing at up to 33 pages per minute in black or color, automatic duplex printing, USB, Gigabit Ethernet, dual-band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi, and NFC badge authentication. The standard paper setup is a 250-sheet tray plus a 50-sheet multipurpose tray; optional trays can raise total input capacity to 1,340 sheets. Brother Japan lists a maximum A4 paper size and up to 31 pages per minute for simplex A4 printing. The printer’s control panel, connectivity options, included supplies, and service arrangements can vary by market; use local documentation rather than assuming every regional version is identical. How fast is it, and what does print quality look like?
In ITPro’s review, the printer produced 26.8 pages per minute on 25 copies of a letter and 29.7 ppm on a 50-page text document. A 24-page graphics-heavy color document ran at 21.2 ppm. A 10-page color duplex job measured 11.3 images per minute. ITPro also reported a first black-text page in 12 seconds after clicking Print, with roughly nine seconds of additional warm-up after an hour idle. ITPro praised the text, noting neat character outlines down to 5-point type, and described illustrations as detailed and sharp, with bold, mostly uniform color fills and smooth progressions. Its sample photos looked less convincing: colors were somewhat undersaturated, skies leaned too blue, and skin tones appeared slightly pale. Photo results depend on the source image, paper, settings, and viewing conditions; the review’s observations are a useful indication, not a guarantee for every print job.
What will toner cost?
There is no single cost-per-page figure that applies across markets. The available estimates use different regional prices, cartridge identifiers, and calculation methods:

Brother USA lists the included TN635XLBK black cartridge at a rated 5,500 pages and the included color cartridges at 4,500 pages each. Its TN637 ultra-high-yield cartridges are rated at 10,000 pages for each color. These are manufacturer yield ratings, not guaranteed yields for every document: page coverage and print conditions affect how quickly cartridges run out. Why can maintenance be more involved than toner replacement?

ITPro describes the range of consumables as unusually broad and says tracking them can be a nuisance. The separate parts also mean that heavily used printers can have components replaced individually rather than treating the whole machine as one disposable unit. Light users may not reach the rated lives of longer-lasting parts; for high-volume use, budget and plan for parts, potential downtime, and inventory alongside toner. You generally do not need to buy every maintenance item in advance.

Brother Japan rates the machine’s service life at up to 200,000 pages or seven years, whichever comes first, and lists a paid seven-year maintenance service. ITPro puts the printer’s weight at about 21 kg, so plan for a sturdy surface and enough room to move it into position. The reviewer found the cassette rails and paper guides solid, but noted that the side-mounted USB port and rear access requirements can make placement less convenient. Who should consider the HL-L8570CDW?
It is a plausible fit for an office that needs color document printing, duplex output, expandable paper capacity, and high-yield toner options. The evidence is strongest for text and business graphics; the review found photo output less saturated. Before choosing it, compare your expected volume and color coverage with local toner prices, and include the separate drum, belt, waste-toner box, and fuser in a high-volume maintenance plan.
For comparisons with other printers, look for measured text and graphics speeds, first-page and duplex timings, photo quality, standard and expanded paper capacity, realistic toner yields, and availability of replacement service parts. The cited review does not provide a matched, same-method test against competing models, so it cannot establish that the HL-L8570CDW is faster or cheaper than a specific alternative.
