The Brother HL-L2460DW is a print-only monochrome laser printer with automatic two-sided printing, a 250-sheet main tray, and Ethernet, USB, and dual-band Wi-Fi. It is designed for black-and-white documents: it does not print in color and does not include a scanner or copier. Brother’s published specifications make it a practical fit to consider if those limits match your needs, but they are not independent tests of print quality, speed, or long-term reliability.
What kind of printer is the Brother HL-L2460DW?
Brother describes the HL-L2460DW as a monochrome electrophotographic laser printer. It prints black-and-white pages only; it is not a color printer or an all-in-one. There is no scanner or copier, so choose a multifunction model if you need to digitize documents or make copies. Brother’s product page identifies it as a print-only model.
Brother lists a maximum print resolution of up to 1200 × 1200 dpi. That is a specification, not a guarantee of how text or graphics will look in every document or print setting.

How fast does it print, and does it print double-sided?
Brother rates the printer at up to 36 pages per minute for single-sided printing. The product page says this maximum is based on simplex printing and requires changing the default setting, so it should not be read as a measured speed for every job. Brother also specifies a first-page time of up to 8.5 seconds on its product page; its brochure describes it as less than 8.5 seconds. These are manufacturer figures, not independent measurements. Is the HL-L2460DW wireless?
Yes. Brother lists dual-band Wi-Fi—802.11 b/g/n at 2.4 GHz and 802.11 a/n at 5 GHz—as well as Ethernet and Hi-Speed USB 2.0. Supported mobile printing options named by Brother include Apple AirPrint, Mopria, Wi-Fi Direct, and Brother Mobile Connect. The product page broadly lists Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome OS compatibility; check Brother’s support site for current drivers and operating-system details.
The U.S. product listing specifies a 110–120 V AC, 50/60 Hz power source. That specification is for the U.S. listing and should not be assumed to apply to versions sold in other regions.

Which toner and drum does it use?
Brother lists TN830, TN830XL, and TN830V black toner cartridges as compatible supplies, along with the DR830 drum unit. The manufacturer-stated yields in Brother’s brochure are estimates, not guaranteed page counts; actual yield varies with use.
| Supply | Brother-stated yield | Role |
|---|---|---|
| TN830 toner | 1,200 pages | Standard replacement toner |
| TN830XL toner | 3,000 pages | High-yield replacement toner |
| TN830V toner | 3,300 pages | Replacement toner |
| DR830 drum | 15,000 pages | Replacement drum unit |
Brother says the box includes starter black toner estimated at 700 pages and a DR830 drum estimated at 15,000 pages. The starter toner yield is lower than the stated 1,200-page yield for a retail TN830 cartridge, so do not use the in-box figure as the expected yield for a replacement TN830. See Brother’s TN830 supply page and the brochure for supply details.

This is a distinct configuration, not a different printer model with an “upgrade” cartridge; verify what a specific listing includes before buying.

For current drivers, manuals, compatible supplies, warranty information, and instructions for wireless or USB setup, paper loading, jam clearance, and toner or drum replacement, use the Brother HL-L2460DW support page. It is safer to follow the model-specific instructions there than to rely on button sequences intended for another Brother printer.
Who should consider the Brother HL-L2460DW?
Its listed features suit people who primarily print black-and-white documents and want automatic duplexing, a substantial paper tray, and wired or wireless connection options. The single-sheet manual feed can accommodate occasional specialty media or an envelope, while the main tray is intended for routine paper loading.
It is a poor fit if you need color output, scanning, or copying. Also weigh supply costs using current prices for the printer and compatible toner and drum; yield figures alone do not establish cost per page or overall value. The available manufacturer specifications do not establish independent print quality, real-world throughput, reliability, or comparative value against other models.
