The Breville Kitchen Wizz 8 Plus (BFP580) is a discontinued food processor that adds a blender jug to a broad set of processing attachments. Its documented controls and accessories make it versatile on paper, but a used purchase depends on the condition of the unit and whether the exact parts you need are available in your region. Breville’s manual and product page also disagree on blender-jug capacity, and public information does not establish how well the machine performs in practice.
What the BFP580 includes
The BFP580 is a food processor and blender combination. Breville lists a 1000 W motor, two speeds plus pulse, and an 11-cup dry / 8-cup liquid processing bowl. The instruction book describes the liquid capacity as 8 cups of thick liquid.
The attachment bundle covers several different jobs:
- Micro-serrated Quad S-blade: the main food-processing blade.
- Adjustable slicer: 24 settings, from 0.3 mm to 8.0 mm.
- Reversible shredder: for different shredding thicknesses.
- Dough blade: for dough preparation.
- Potato peeler: a dedicated peeling disc.
- Blender jug and Kinetix blade system: the extra blending attachment that distinguishes the Plus model.
- Stainless steel spindle: required to fit the blades and discs.
Breville says the potato peeler can handle up to seven potatoes in 30 seconds. The manual describes batches of six or seven and gives a typical peeling time of 25–30 seconds, with advice to monitor the process. These are manufacturer claims and guidance, not independent test results.

BFP580 versus BFP560
The key documented difference is the blender jug. Breville’s instruction book says the jug is included with the BFP580 only; the BFP560 has the other tools but not the jug. If buying a used unit or replacement attachment, check the model code rather than relying on a similar name or appearance.
Capacity and dimensions: sources do not fully agree
Breville’s instruction book gives the blender jug capacity as 1.4 litres. Breville New Zealand’s product page lists it as 1.5 litres. The available official information does not resolve the discrepancy, so treat either figure as source-specific rather than a single settled capacity.

There is also a difference in published bowl measurements and dimensions. These figures come from separate listings and use different presentation, so they should not be combined as though they were a single verified measurement.

Assembly and safety matter in everyday use
The instruction book requires the bowl and lid to lock into position. The spindle must be fitted when using the blades or discs; Breville warns that incorrect use without it can damage or fuse parts. The bowl has a safety interlock, and the Quad blade has a braking system if the lid is unexpectedly opened.
For a used appliance, these details make a demonstration more useful than a simple power-on check. Confirm that the bowl and lid seat and lock correctly, then test pulse, both speeds, blending, and each included blade or disc. Missing or worn parts can affect both function and safe assembly.

What public independent review information establishes
CHOICE’s public listing labels the BFP580 a discontinued model and displays a price of $319, a one-year warranty field, 1000 W, four blades, bowl measurements, and dimensions. The displayed price is listing information, not a current selling price. The detailed expert rating, performance and ease scores, and pros and cons are restricted to members, so the public entry does not support a conclusion about chopping results, noise, durability, or cleaning.
Breville’s product page lists a one-year replacement warranty as a specification. That should not be read as a warranty promise for a second-hand purchase. Nor do the motor rating and attachment list, on their own, establish real-world performance.

Parts and used-unit checks
Breville marks the BFP580 discontinued. Its product page lists replacement assemblies including the processing bowl, peeler disc, lid/jug assembly, blender jug assembly, base, storage tray, dough blade, Quad blade kit, shredder disc, spindle, slicer disc, and food pusher. A parts listing does not establish that an item is currently in stock or available in your country. Confirm the exact BFP580 compatibility and local availability before buying.
Ask the seller to demonstrate
- The bowl and lid lock and the interlock behaves as described in the manual.
- Pulse and both speed settings operate.
- The blender attachment is present and works; it is a BFP580-specific distinction from the BFP560.
- The spindle, Quad blade, adjustable slicer, reversible shredder, dough blade, and peeler are present if included in the sale.
Inspect before paying
- Look for cracks, chips, or wear on the bowl, lid, jug, and the interfaces that connect attachments to the base.
- Check the part names against Breville’s BFP580 listing if a component is missing or will need replacement.
- Ask whether any replacement part is actually available locally; online product-page listings alone do not confirm stock.

Is the BFP580 worth buying used?
It may suit someone who will use both the processor attachments and blender, and who can verify that the essential parts are intact. It is a less appealing purchase if you need a complete accessory set, depend on easy local replacements, or cannot test the interlocks and controls before paying. Since Breville identifies it as discontinued and public independent performance details are limited, judge a specific unit by its condition, completeness, and confirmed parts support—not by its wattage or feature list alone.
