The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been shown running at a reported 4K and 30 frames per second on a jailbroken PlayStation 5—but it is the Wii U version running through Cemu, not a native PS5 release. The demonstration uses PS5CEMU-HAR, an unofficial homebrew app, and its reported performance should not be taken as a guarantee for every scene or setup.
How Breath of the Wild runs on the PS5 demo
The reported route is Breath of the Wild for Wii U, emulated by Cemu through PS5CEMU-HAR on a jailbroken PS5. It is not the Switch version running in a Switch emulator, nor a game port released for PlayStation. GamesRadar+ reported the demonstration on October 5, 2026, and El Chapuzas Informático reported the Wii U/Cemu path and 4K at 30 fps on October 6, 2026.
What PS5CEMU-HAR does
The PS5CEMU-HAR GitHub repository describes the project as an unofficial homebrew app for jailbroken PS5 consoles that bundles Cemu for Wii U games and Azahar for Nintendo 3DS games. The repository says the project is not affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo, Sony, Cemu, or Azahar.

The particular Breath of the Wild result is a reported demonstration at 4K and 30 fps, not an independently measured benchmark in every area of the game. The repository lists 3840×2160 output and frame-pacing options, including 30 fps on 60 Hz displays and 60 fps on 120 Hz displays. Those are app capabilities and settings; they do not establish that this game will hold a particular frame rate in every scene.

The project says most Wii U games tried so far are playable, with video, controls, sound, and saves working. That is the project’s own broad compatibility statement, not an independent compatibility test or a promise that every game works consistently.
How it compares with the Switch 2 option
GamesRadar describes the Switch 2 version as running at 1440p with 4K upscaling at 60 fps. That comparison is the outlet’s reported specification; it has not been independently verified here against Nintendo documentation.

These are different trade-offs, not directly equivalent configurations: one is an unofficial emulation demonstration that requires a jailbroken console, while the other is the Nintendo-hardware route described in the report. A fan post quoted by GamesRadar called the PS5 footage “so damn beautiful”; the outlet also reported a commenter preferring the Switch 2 at 60 fps. Those posts illustrate individual reactions, not a poll of players.

What you need to know about files and setup
PS5CEMU-HAR’s repository says users must supply their own game files; the app does not include games, keys, firmware, or other copyrighted console data. Installation depends on whether a particular PS5’s firmware can run homebrew. The available reporting does not establish that every PS5 can be jailbroken or that the same setup will work across firmware versions.

The headline reaction came from online comments about the footage, including one post quoted by GamesRadar: “Zelda: Breath of the Wild running at 4K on PS5 is so damn beautiful.” Another commenter favored the Switch 2 experience at 60 fps. The contrast reflects a familiar choice in the footage: sharper reported output versus a higher reported frame rate, with the important difference that the PS5 result depends on unofficial emulation.
