Breath of the Wild is officially listed as a Nintendo Switch game, not as a native PC release. Playing it on a computer means using an emulator, where image and frame-rate options depend on the emulator, game build, settings, and PC hardware. Switch offers the straightforward console route, with TV, tabletop, and handheld modes; PC emulation offers more configuration, but not a guaranteed performance upgrade.
What “Breath of the Wild on PC” means
Nintendo lists The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Nintendo Switch. Its cited Australian product listing identifies TV, tabletop, and handheld play modes and lists a 14.4 GB software size; that file size is not a PC storage recommendation or performance figure. Nintendo Australia’s Switch listing does not describe a native PC edition.
On PC, the term usually refers to emulating a console version. Cemu is a Wii U emulator with game-specific graphics-pack options for Breath of the Wild. Ryubing documentation describes Switch emulation and general graphics enhancements, but those capability descriptions are not a measured result for this game. Neither path should be described as a native PC port.

Graphics: PC emulation offers more settings, not a guaranteed result
Resolution, shadows, and anti-aliasing in Cemu
Cemu’s community graphics pack allows changes to resolution, shadow resolution, and anti-aliasing. The cited rolling configuration file, checked in 2026, gives a default width and height of 1280 × 720 and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Those are configuration defaults, not a universal description of all PC setups or Switch output. Cemu graphics-pack configuration

Cemu’s guide describes higher resolution options, but notes that they raise computational demands. Shadow settings also involve a tradeoff between image detail and performance. A setting being available does not mean a particular computer can use it smoothly. Cemu’s guide to graphics packs
Switch display information
Nintendo’s cited Switch product listing confirms the supported play modes, but does not provide technical resolution figures. It therefore supports comparing flexibility of settings with the Switch’s defined console modes, not claims that one version has a specific output resolution advantage.

Frame rate and gameplay behavior
Cemu’s FPS++ graphics pack is set to a 60 FPS limit by default according to the guide. That is a configurable target, not a guarantee that every PC will sustain 60 FPS. The guide warns that FPS++ can cause issues and suggests setting the limit to 30 FPS until past an issue. Cemu’s guide to graphics packs

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →There is also a gameplay tradeoff: Cemu’s compatibility notes explain that the game expects a constant timestep for much of its physics, and changing frame rate can affect that behavior. The notes describe limiting FPS++ to 30 or disabling it as possible workarounds. Higher FPS is therefore not automatically equivalent to the original gameplay or issue-free. Nintendo’s cited Switch listing does not state a frame rate. The available figures do not establish a matched PC-versus-Switch FPS comparison, so a universal claim that PC runs at a particular rate while Switch runs at another would go beyond them.

Ryubing’s documentation lists general emulator enhancements including shader caching, resolution scaling, anti-aliasing, scaling filters such as FSR, anisotropic filtering, and aspect-ratio adjustment. It also describes graphics emulation through OpenGL, Vulkan, or Metal via MoltenVK. These are general emulator capabilities, not proof of a particular Breath of the Wild resolution, frame rate, or image-quality result on a given computer. Ryubing graphics enhancements

Which version fits your priorities?
- Choose Switch if you want the supported console experience and built-in play modes. Nintendo lists TV, tabletop, and handheld play without requiring you to tune emulator graphics settings.
- Consider PC emulation if configurable graphics matter more than simplicity. Cemu’s graphics packs expose settings such as resolution, shadows, and anti-aliasing, but increasing them raises hardware demands and a 60 FPS target may need adjustment.
- Do not choose solely on an assumed FPS advantage. The cited material contains no independent, controlled cross-platform benchmark. A meaningful comparison would need the same scene, hardware, game version, emulator version, graphics settings, and measurement method.
What about the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition?
Nintendo describes a separate Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade that requires the Switch game. Its pages describe improved resolution or visuals, improved frame rates or performance, and HDR, but do not provide numerical output specifications in the cited material. That makes it a distinct official console option, not evidence for a specific PC-versus-Switch benchmark. Nintendo Australia’s Switch 2 Edition page Nintendo UK’s Switch 2 Edition page
