The BOXX APEXX W3 is a configurable Xeon W workstation listed from $11,910.00 on BOXX’s product page as of October 5, 2026. Its listed entry build pairs a 12-core Xeon W with 64GB of ECC memory and an NVIDIA RTX 2000 Ada, while higher configurations can reach 26 CPU cores, 1TB of memory and two GPUs. Those specifications make it a plausible candidate for professional rendering, simulation and other demanding work, but they do not establish how fast, quiet or good value the system is: no independent benchmark or hands-on test is available here.
What the listed starting configuration includes
BOXX’s current APEXX W3 product page lists a starting price of $11,910.00 and specifies this entry configuration:
- 12-core Intel Xeon W processor at 3.5GHz
- 64GB DDR5-4800 ECC registered memory
- NVIDIA RTX 2000 Ada with 16GB of memory
- 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD
- Windows 11
This is a starting build, not a fixed specification for every W3. BOXX’s price and available configurations can change, and the final cost depends on the selected components. Treat the listed price as a baseline rather than a like-for-like comparison with another workstation unless the CPU, GPU, memory, storage and support are matched.

What can be configured
The same product page describes a broader platform than the entry build. The maxima below are manufacturer-listed capabilities, not parts included in the $11,910 starting configuration. Confirm the exact processor SKU, component combinations and quote with BOXX before ordering.

- Model: Dell OptiPlex 7050 Small Form Factor (SFF)
- Processor: Intel Core i7-7700 3.60 GHz
- Memory: 32GB DDR4 Ram
- Storage: 1TB Solid State Drive (SSD) Fast Boot + Storage
- Operating System: Windows 11 Pro (64-bit)
| Area | Manufacturer-listed capability | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | Up to 26 cores and 52 threads, with 2.8GHz base and 4.8GHz boost clocks shown for the highest-count option | Exact Xeon W SKU and its clock specifications |
| Memory | Up to 1TB DDR5-4800 across eight DIMM slots | Installed capacity, ECC registered memory configuration and room for future upgrades |
| Graphics | Support for up to two GPUs at x16; the page gives a 1,000W GPU power budget | Supported card models, slot arrangement, total system power needs and any configuration limits |
| Power supply | 1,300W, 80 PLUS Gold | Whether the supply and selected GPU combination suit the intended workload |
| Storage | Four M.2 positions, up to 4TB each, plus U.2 support; SATA arrangements vary | Drive count, capacities and supported combinations in the specific quote |
| Networking and ports | Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, dual 10GbE, one 2.5GbE, and two USB4/Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports | That the selected configuration provides the interfaces needed for the actual network and peripherals |
For a memory-heavy project, the eight DIMM slots and stated 1TB ceiling may matter more than the entry system’s 64GB. GPU-heavy work calls for checking the exact card and VRAM, not just the two-GPU maximum. Likewise, four M.2 positions do not by themselves tell you which drive combinations BOXX will quote. Request the complete build specification before comparing systems.
Who BOXX positions it for—and what that does not prove
BOXX positions its W-Class systems for rendering, simulation and GPU-accelerated applications. Its April 17, 2023 NAB Show announcement named 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, Blender, V-Ray and Autodesk Arnold as examples. That is vendor positioning, not independent evidence of performance in any of those applications.

The announcement described the W3 at launch with a 24-core Xeon W-2400 processor and up to two RTX Ada Generation GPUs. That is historical launch context; it should not be confused with the current product page’s listed entry configuration or its stated maximum. The launch release also quoted BOXX VP of Marketing Bill Leasure describing the W-Class as designed to improve productivity. This is a company claim, not a measured result.

For a purchase decision, ask for results that reflect your own workload or compare independently tested systems using the same software version, project, settings and component class. For rendering, separate CPU and GPU results. For simulation, use representative models and document solver settings. If noise, sustained operation or reliability matters, seek measurements or a return/evaluation path rather than inferring those qualities from the component list.
Warranty and support
BOXX’s product page lists a three-year limited warranty and first-year Premium Support & Services, including 24/7 phone support and next-business-day onsite repair. It says premium support for years two and/or three must be added at purchase and cannot be added later. Confirm the current terms for your location and exact order, including coverage exclusions and how onsite service applies.

How to assess the W3 against another workstation
Compare quoted systems at the configuration level, not by chassis name or maximum specifications. A useful comparison includes:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Exact configured price and the components included in that quote
- CPU model, core count and application-specific performance
- GPU model, VRAM and number of cards
- ECC memory capacity and upgrade path
- Storage capacity, drive types and arrangement
- PCIe slots, networking and I/O required by your workflow
- Warranty, support coverage and extension terms
- Power use and acoustic behavior under the workload you actually run
Without comparable independent test results, specifications alone cannot identify a performance winner or establish that the W3 is better value. The most defensible next step is to obtain a W3 quote for the workload you need to run and compare it with a similarly equipped alternative.
