Boston Mayor Michelle Wu endorsed Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey and Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll for re-election on October 1, 2026. Wu said the endorsement reflected their work together on costs, housing, public safety, opportunity and transit—not just support for Healey alone.
Who did Michelle Wu endorse?
Wu endorsed the Healey-Driscoll ticket: both Gov. Maura Healey and Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll. The announcement was reported October 1 by WBUR.
Why did Wu endorse Healey and Driscoll?
Wu described the relationship as a governing partnership and pointed to work she said had benefited Boston and communities across Massachusetts. In a statement provided by the Healey campaign, she cited economic impact from a “historic summer,” efforts to lower costs and build more housing, public safety, expanded opportunity and transit collaboration. She said she wanted to continue working with the administration.

Healey praised Wu as “such a fantastic partner and a true champion for the people of Boston,” and said they had worked side by side to deliver for their communities, according to WBUR’s report.

How does the endorsement fit their political history?
The endorsement followed a period of public distance. In June 2026, The Boston Globe reported that Wu was not then planning to endorse Healey. The pair had also supported opposing candidates in two Democratic state Senate primaries the previous month, and Healey had declined to say whether she supported Wu before Wu’s 2025 mayoral primary.
Those events establish a change in Wu’s public position, but they do not explain what prompted it. The reporting does not establish a private agreement, a reconciliation, or the political effect of the endorsement.

How long has the Healey-Driscoll campaign been underway?
Healey and Driscoll launched their re-election campaign on January 20, 2026, according to the Healey campaign announcement. Wu’s endorsement came more than eight months later, during the October campaign push.
