The Bosch PXV890DV5E is an 80 cm built-in Series 8 induction cooktop with five cooking positions and a flexible cooking zone that Bosch says can combine two zones into one larger area. On paper it suits buyers who want a wide induction hob with app connectivity. Whether it is the right purchase depends on three things Bosch’s own pages leave for you to check: your cut-out, your electrical supply and whether your cookware works on induction.
This review is based on Bosch’s product documentation and on the ratings Bosch displays for the model. It does not report hands-on cooking tests, so the performance points below are manufacturer claims unless stated otherwise.
What the PXV890DV5E is
Bosch lists the PXV890DV5E as a Series 8, 80 cm framed induction cooktop. Its Australian product page names five cooking positions, FlexInduction, PerfectFry, DirectSelect Premium touch controls and Home Connect, with outer dimensions of 51 × 816 × 527 mm (Bosch Home Appliances Australia, PXV890DV5E Flex induction cooktop). The Malaysian specification sheet adds more detail on power, supply and installation (Bosch Home Appliances Malaysia, PXV890DV5E specification sheet).
Because feature lists and electrical values differ between regional sheets, the table below labels the source of each figure. Use the document for your own country before you plan an installation.

Cooking features as Bosch describes them
FlexInduction
Bosch’s Malaysian sheet states: “The FlexInduction hob: you can place multiple pots and pans or large cookware anywhere on the flexible cooking zone.” The flexible area is listed at 40 cm long. This is the main reason to choose this model over a standard four-zone layout, but how well it handles a particular pan shape is something you will need to judge for yourself.
PerfectFry
Bosch’s Australian page describes the “PerfectFry sensor” as something that “automatically regulates the pan temperature to prevent food from burning.” Bosch’s Malaysian sheet also lists five frying levels. Treat this as Bosch’s description of the feature. The available sources do not include independent frying tests.
Controls and extras
- DirectSelect Premium touch controls (Australia page)
- Home Connect app connectivity (Australia page)
- Keep-warm, zone timers, boost, QuickStart and ReStart (Malaysia sheet)
- Pan setting transfer, app-based dish assistance and remote monitoring (Malaysia sheet)
- Compatible hood activation (Malaysia sheet)
Feature naming and availability vary by market. A function listed on the Malaysian sheet may not appear under the same name on a sheet for your country.

- PORTABLE INDUCTION BURNER: Duxtop induction cooktop uses 110/120 V 15 amp electrical outlet–standard in all North American homes. ETL listed and built to North American electrical standards. It is lightweight and compact for easy handling and storage
- Choose from 20 preset power levels (100 to 1800 W) and 20 preset temperature level settings (100 °F to 460 °F). With an 83% energy efficiency, induction burner is more efficient than traditional gas or electric stoves
- DIGITAL LCD SENSOR: Touch control panel: child safety lock keeps the cooking and timer settings from being accidentally changed once they have been set; fast boil button; keep warm button (for 1-30 minutes at 140 °F); up to 10-hour timer button
- Induction stoves rely on cookware to heat, so it’s essential to choose magnetic bottom cookware with a minimum diameter of 5 inches. Auto-pan detection will shut off automatically after 60 seconds if no cookware, or the incorrect cookware is detected
- Although induction itself is a noiseless process, there may be high pitched sounds from the cookware due to multiple layers of metals sandwiched together. Please allow the induction cooker to cool down before cleaning
Check fit before you buy
Installation is the decision that most often goes wrong, so verify these points in order.
- Confirm your market. Download the installation document for your country from Bosch, because the only installation niche figures available here come from the Malaysian sheet.
- Measure the niche against the Malaysian figure of 51 × 750–780 × 490–500 mm. The outer size of 816 mm is wider than the niche, which is normal for a framed hob whose frame sits on the worktop.
- Check that the worktop is at least 16 mm thick, the minimum given on the Malaysian sheet.
- Check the electrical supply against the 7.4 kW rating and the 220–240 V, 50–60 Hz supply on the sheet.
- Have a qualified electrician or installer confirm the connection before ordering.
Electrical supply and hardwiring
The Malaysian sheet gives a 7.4 kW connection rating and states “no plug,” with a 110 cm cord. In practice this means the cooktop is connected directly to the supply rather than to a standard socket. The same sheet warns that power management can limit maximum power depending on the fuse protection in the electrical installation, so a circuit that is too small will not deliver the full rating. Electrical requirements in other markets may differ, so check your local document rather than assuming the Malaysian values apply.
Cookware compatibility
Induction cooktops heat cookware through magnetism, so pans need a base that a magnet will stick to. A fridge magnet held to the base is a quick check. Bosch’s published specification pages do not include a full cookware guide, so do not assume every pan will work. Look up the minimum pan size in the user manual for your market, and check how a pan sits on the flexible zone if you plan to use large or unusual shapes.

What Bosch’s ratings and claims do and do not show
- Bosch Australia’s product page showed a rating of 4.9 from 19 ratings when checked in 2026 (Bosch Home Appliances Australia).
- Bosch Germany’s product page showed 4.8 from 45 ratings plus one answer when checked in 2026 (Bosch Home Appliances Germany, PXV890DV5E Induktionskochfeld).
These are customer ratings hosted by Bosch in two different markets. They are not a representative sample, and they are not laboratory results. Ratings can change after publication, so check the current page before relying on them.
Bosch says its GlassProtect coating increases scratch resistance. That is a manufacturer claim about improved durability, not evidence that the surface cannot scratch.

Who should consider the PXV890DV5E
The model fits buyers who want a wide built-in induction hob with a flexible zone, a five-position layout and app features, and who have a niche and electrical supply that match Bosch’s documents. Buyers with a smaller cut-out, a limited circuit, or mainly standard pans may want to compare other 80 cm induction cooktops before deciding.
When comparing alternatives, use the same checklist for each: the usable zone layout and how many cooking positions can run at once; control layout and frying or temperature assistance; app requirements; cut-out dimensions; electrical load and wiring; included accessories; regional warranty and service coverage; and the installed cost, including an electrician’s work.
Bosch’s own specifications support the PXV890DV5E’s layout and features. Judging whether it is worth the price depends on your kitchen and your electrical supply, and no independent test in the available sources answers that question.
