Bootstrap’s official examples and Bootstrap Expo are useful places to find website-design inspiration, but the available evidence does not establish 28 currently live sites that still use Bootstrap. Rather than label unverified sites as “built with Bootstrap,” this guide explains how to find and verify examples, what to study in them, and how to move from inspiration to a prototype.
Why this roundup does not claim 28 verified Bootstrap websites
A site can look like Bootstrap without currently using it: teams can heavily customize the framework, replace it, or build a similar design with other tools. Bootstrap Expo describes a curated showcase of sites using Bootstrap, but its about page does not document a complete, current roster with technical evidence for each site. A historical showcase entry alone does not prove that a site still uses Bootstrap.
To responsibly publish a list of 28 current examples, each entry would need an individual check of the live site’s source or assets, or a reliable first-party technical disclosure, along with the date checked. Without that site-by-site evidence, naming 28 sites as current Bootstrap implementations would overstate what is known.

Bootstrap Expo: a discovery starting point
Bootstrap Expo describes its purpose as showcasing sites using Bootstrap and says it curates examples for quality and comprehensiveness. Use it to find candidates worth exploring, not as automatic proof that each entry remains live or currently uses the framework.

Official examples: layouts you can inspect and adapt
Bootstrap’s official examples are demonstrations, not independent production websites. They include reusable snippets and complete layouts such as Album, Pricing, Checkout, Product, Blog, Dashboard, and Sign-in. Bootstrap describes the page as a way to “Quickly get a project started with any of our examples ranging from using parts of the framework to custom components and layouts.”
These examples are most useful for understanding layout patterns and component combinations. Treat them as technical starting points rather than evidence about how unrelated companies built their sites.

How to verify that a site currently uses Bootstrap
- Open the live site. Record its URL and the date you checked it. A saved showcase entry or screenshot cannot establish the site’s current implementation.
- Look for direct technical evidence. Inspect published source and loaded assets for Bootstrap references, or find a first-party technical disclosure that identifies Bootstrap. A visual resemblance is not enough.
- Separate present use from historical inclusion. If the evidence comes only from an old showcase listing, describe it as a past showcase entry—not a currently verified Bootstrap site.
- Record version evidence only when the site establishes it. The current Bootstrap release does not reveal which version, if any, a particular site uses. Do not infer a site’s version from the framework’s latest release.
- Recheck before publication. Site code changes. Attach the access date to the claim so readers can tell when the evidence was observed.
What to study when comparing Bootstrap examples
Once a candidate is verified, focus on decisions that can inform your own work—not on whether its styling looks like an unmodified framework demo.
Recommended Free Tools
- Purpose and audience: Identify what the site needs visitors to do, then notice how the design supports that task.
- Navigation and layout: Compare how the page organizes sections, menus, and prominent actions.
- Content hierarchy: Observe how headings, imagery, spacing, and text density guide attention.
- Responsive behavior: Check the same pages at mobile and desktop widths to see what moves, stacks, or disappears.
- Customization: Distinguish the framework’s building blocks from the site’s own visual identity and components.
- Evidence and date: Keep the technical proof and date checked with the example, especially if sharing it as a current Bootstrap implementation.
These observations can help you choose a layout pattern or component to prototype. They do not, by themselves, establish performance, accessibility, or quality; those require separate evaluation.

How to start building from an example
The Bootstrap homepage displayed version 5.3.8 at the time reflected in its current materials. Bootstrap says developers can start through a CDN, package manager, or source download. Since release details can change, check the official Bootstrap site for the current version before starting.
The official v5.3 examples page offers starter approaches for CDN, Sass and JavaScript, Parcel, React, Vite, Vue, and Webpack. Choose the path that fits your project, then adapt an official example or combine components into a layout suited to your audience.

Check the Bootstrap version behind older material
Bootstrap’s version-specific v3.4 documentation records that Bootstrap 3 reached end of life on July 24, 2019, and Bootstrap 4 reached end of life on January 1, 2023. That page recommends starting with or upgrading to Bootstrap 5. These dates describe framework history; they do not tell you which version a particular website uses. See the Bootstrap v3.4 documentation for its version-specific guidance.

Official examples are free technical starting points. Third-party marketplaces offer paid templates and themes, which may save setup time but vary in quality and support. Before choosing one, compare:
Best Value
- Which Bootstrap version it supports and whether that matches your project.
- Its update history and compatibility information.
- Which components and pages are included.
- Whether the documentation is complete and understandable.
- What support and license terms the seller provides.
Start Bootstrap provides a resource list that includes theme and template marketplaces. Treat a marketplace listing as a product lead, and verify the specific template’s details with its seller.
