Bluetooth TV sound can lag behind—or get ahead of—the picture because the TV, wireless connection, and headphones or speaker process and buffer audio on a timing path separate from video. Start by checking your TV’s audio-sync settings, then reconnect the device if the delay develops during use. If the mismatch persists, confirm compatibility or try a wired connection.
Why Bluetooth TV audio goes out of sync
A TV processes video and audio through separate paths. Bluetooth adds wireless transmission and audio processing at the receiving device, which can mean the sound is ready at a different time from the picture. The result is a lip-sync mismatch: dialogue may sound late, or occasionally early.
Bluetooth SIG explains that Bluetooth Classic Audio uses asynchronous transport and may need buffers that add delay. LE Audio uses isochronous channels to reduce the need for buffering, but that design does not guarantee that a particular TV-and-headphone combination supports LE Audio or will have acceptable synchronization. See Bluetooth SIG’s overview of LE Audio.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesDelay can also change during a viewing session. Sony says that for some connected-device combinations, the lip-sync delay may increase after extended use. Interference is another possibility, but it is not a diagnosis: Sony’s guidance suggests reducing nearby wireless activity or moving devices as troubleshooting steps if simpler checks do not help.

How to troubleshoot the delay
- Look for an audio-sync control on the TV. Check Audio Output or the equivalent section of the TV’s settings for “Bluetooth Delay,” “A/V Sync,” or a similarly named option. Adjust in small increments while checking dialogue against the picture. Controls and menu paths differ by model, so use the manual for your exact TV rather than assuming a menu path from another brand.
- Check whether A/V Sync is available and enabled. Sony recommends turning on A/V Sync for a specified BRAVIA 9 situation in which Bluetooth A2DP output is delayed when the feature is off. On that setup, Multi-View or Game Mode can prevent A/V Sync from being enabled. The setting’s availability and behavior are model-dependent.
- Reconnect the audio device if the delay grows over time. Disconnect the headphones or speaker from the TV, then connect it again. Sony lists this as a step for the cited BRAVIA 6 guidance when delay develops after extended use.
- Verify compatibility and update both devices. Check the exact TV manual and audio-device documentation to confirm that the TV supports Bluetooth audio and that the devices share a supported profile. Sony says compatible combinations use A2DP, does not guarantee operation with every Bluetooth device, and notes SBC transmission for the covered TV guidance rather than AAC, aptX, or LDAC. Check both devices for available firmware updates; a different codec should not be assumed to fix sync.
- Test for possible wireless interference. If the sync problem remains, try moving the TV or audio device and reducing nearby wireless activity, then test again. Treat improvement or no change as evidence about your setup—not proof that interference was the original cause.
What Sony’s settings guidance does—and doesn’t—mean
Sony’s support instructions are useful examples, not universal TV directions. For the specified BRAVIA 6 guidance, the Bluetooth Delay control runs from 0 to 500 and defaults to 280. Those values apply to that model guidance; they should not be treated as a standard range for other TVs. Sony’s A/V Sync instructions also apply to particular models and situations.
For another manufacturer, or a Sony model not covered by those instructions, consult the manual or support page for the exact model and software version. The setting name, adjustment range, and whether a control applies to Bluetooth output can vary.

- 【Multiple Connection】The 1Mii B06TX Bluetooth Transmitter has both analog and digital audio inputs, compatible with TVs that have Optical, Coaxial, RCA, or 3.5mm outputs. NOTE: If using TV optical/coaxial output, please set the audio output to optical/digital output
When a wired connection is the better fallback
If sync remains poor after settings and reconnection checks, Sony recommends using the TV speakers or a wired HDMI or digital optical connection in the cited cases. A wired connection avoids the Bluetooth audio path, but it is only an option when the TV and receiving sound system both have compatible ports and support the necessary audio format.
- Digital optical: Check that both devices have optical audio ports and that their manuals support the audio format you plan to use. An optical cable changes the connection; it does not repair Bluetooth.
- HDMI: Confirm that both devices support an appropriate audio-return connection and follow their manuals’ setup instructions. HDMI capability and port labels vary, so a cable alone does not guarantee a compatible audio path.
- TV speakers: This is a practical way to check whether the mismatch is limited to the Bluetooth connection, and Sony recommends it as an alternative for the cited persistent-delay cases.
Before buying a cable, compare the ports and audio-format support listed for both devices. For a new wireless device, verify the TV and receiver’s supported Bluetooth profile and codec rather than relying on a generic “low-latency” label.

How much delay is noticeable?
Bluetooth SIG’s Introducing Bluetooth LE Audio document says that a 200 ms delay between seeing someone talk and hearing their voice can look wrong. That is an illustrative example in the document, not a universal threshold, a measurement of your setup, or a statistic about how often TV users experience delay. No reliable prevalence figure establishes how common Bluetooth TV lip-sync problems are.
