Bluehost’s affiliate page advertises commissions of $65 or more per qualified sale, with a 30-day cookie window. That figure is a starting public claim, not an earnings estimate. Your actual income depends on how many referred purchases qualify under the affiliate agreement, the commission rate shown in your own dashboard, and when those commissions are paid. As of early October 2026, the official affiliate page is undated and was checked on October 7, 2026, so confirm the rate in your account before you plan around it.

What the $65 figure actually promises

Bluehost’s affiliate page says: “Join one of the world’s most trusted hosting providers to start earning $65 or more per qualified sale.” The wording matters. It describes a per-sale starting point, not a monthly or annual payout, and it does not promise that every referral will pay that amount. The affiliate agreement, provided by Newfold Digital, Inc. and its subsidiaries, says commissions are calculated at the rates shown in the affiliate dashboard. The rate you see there is the one that governs your account.

The agreement also says its terms “are subject to change by Provider without prior notice, but we will try to notify you of such changes in advance.” Treat any rate you read on a blog, forum post or older comparison page as potentially out of date.

What counts as a qualified sale

A qualified purchase, as the agreement defines it, is a purchase of provider services with a term of at least one month, and it is subject to a list of exclusions. Commission can be lost or withheld for any of the following:

  • Improper tracking: the purchase was not tracked properly through your referral link.
  • Existing or program-associated customers: the buyer is associated with certain provider partners or programs.
  • Refunds and account standing: the customer is not in good standing, or the purchase is refunded or delinquent.
  • Attribution timing: the purchase happened more than 30 days after the referral click.
  • Fraud: the provider suspects fraud.
  • Cancellations: the purchase is affected by excessive cancellation rates.

The provider keeps discretion over qualification and may withhold commissions in specified circumstances. In practice, this means a sale that looks like a commission on your dashboard can still be reversed later. Build your expectations around approved, retained sales, not raw referral clicks.

The 30-day attribution window

The affiliate page advertises a 30-day cookie window. The agreement records that this window was changed from 90 days on March 30, 2023. A visitor who clicks your link and buys within 30 days can generate a commission. A purchase made after that window closes does not qualify under the agreement, even if the visitor came from your site. Content that gets read months after publication therefore converts less reliably than the click itself suggests.

Commission math: a hypothetical illustration

Multiplying the advertised starting amount gives a simple ceiling for the gross figure. These numbers are hypothetical. They assume every sale qualifies, pay the starting $65 rate, and are shown before taxes, refunds, withheld commissions or any other costs.

Qualified sales (hypothetical) Gross commission at $65 starting rate What the figure does not include
10 $650 Taxes, refunds, withheld or rejected sales, payment fees
50 $3,250 Taxes, refunds, withheld or rejected sales, payment fees

Bluehost does not publish an average affiliate income, a typical conversion rate or an approval rate. Any monthly estimate you build from your own traffic is your own assumption, not a company benchmark. Your dashboard rate, and the share of referrals that qualify, will determine the real result.

When commissions are paid and how

The agreement says fees are generally processed approximately 45 to 70 days after the end of the month in which they accrue. Its wording also allows the timing and payment methods to change if a third-party affiliate-platform agreement applies. Bluehost’s payout explainer, last updated November 11, 2025, is more specific. It describes a payout about 45 days after month-end, a $10 minimum, PayPal or direct deposit, and a 2% PayPal processing fee capped at $20. Because this is dated guidance, check the current payout settings and threshold in your dashboard before relying on it.

To confirm your payout setup:

  1. Sign in to your affiliate account at https://www.bluehost.com/affiliates.
  2. Open the payment or payout settings in the dashboard and note the minimum threshold shown there.
  3. Confirm which payment method is active, PayPal or direct deposit, and whether a processing fee applies.
  4. Compare the dashboard’s pending and approved amounts with the month-end cycle described in the agreement.

Expect a commission earned in one month to arrive well after that month closes. Plan cash flow around the longer end of the agreement’s range rather than the explainer’s 45-day figure.

Products and tiers that can pay

An older Bluehost affiliate FAQ, updated January 30, 2026, describes a one-time commission for qualified purchases of 12- or 36-month hosting packages. It also says the provider may withhold or reject commissions for suspected fraud or high cancellation rates. The agreement and your dashboard remain the authoritative sources on which plans qualify and what each pays, so do not assume every plan earns the same amount.

Three Bluehost programs people confuse

Bluehost runs several referral-style offers. Only the first is the publisher affiliate program described above.

Program Who it is for Stated payout Source and date
Affiliate program Bloggers, publishers and site owners who promote hosting with links $65 or more per qualified sale, rate set in the dashboard Official affiliate page at https://www.bluehost.com/affiliates, undated, checked October 7, 2026
Agency Partner Program Agencies that build websites for clients Starting terms of 75% of a qualified sale, capped at $500 per sale; terms vary by agreement Bluehost Agency Partner Program page at https://www.bluehost.com/partnerprogram
Refer a Friend Existing Bluehost customers referring someone they know $25 Visa prepaid card for a referred friend’s purchase Help article updated August 5, 2026, at https://www.bluehost.com/help/article/refer-a-friend-program

Do not compare the $500 agency cap with the affiliate headline. They are separate offers with different audiences, qualification processes and terms. If your audience is primarily agencies, the agency program may be a better fit, but it should be presented as a distinct option.

Disclosure and promotion rules

The agreement requires clear and conspicuous disclosure of compensation close to any Bluehost claim, and on each page of your site that contains a link or reference to Bluehost. The disclosure should be visible without scrolling or clicking. It also restricts unapproved promotional materials, search engine marketing without written approval, and limits how coupons may be used. Read the current agreement before launching a campaign, and treat the summary here as orientation rather than legal advice.

Before you join: a practical checklist

  • Read the current affiliate agreement at https://assets.web.com/legal/English/NewfoldAffiliateAgreement.pdf, not only the marketing page.
  • Confirm the commission rate and any plan-specific amounts in your dashboard.
  • Place a compensation disclosure close to your Bluehost link or claim.
  • Write content for readers who are close to buying hosting, since the 30-day window rewards immediate purchase intent.
  • Track approved, retained sales separately from clicks, and check withheld or reversed commissions each month.
  • Do not build a monthly income forecast on the $65 figure alone; model it with your own qualified-sale rate.

Bottom line

Bluehost’s affiliate program advertises $65 or more per qualified sale and a 30-day cookie window, which makes it a credible option for a site that reviews hosting or teaches website building. It is not a guaranteed income. Qualification rules, a dashboard-set rate, possible withholding and a 45-to-70-day payment lag all shape what you actually keep, so your earnings will track the quality of your traffic and the share of referrals that stay approved.

The company’s own language is the clearest guide: “Join one of the world’s most trusted hosting providers to start earning $65 or more per qualified sale.” Attribute that quote to Bluehost’s affiliate page, and read the agreement before you count on any figure.
