For a late-game greatsword, the Imbued Sword of St. Mihai is a strong target in The Blood of Dawnwalker—but there is no confirmed best sword for every build. It is quest-crafted, and getting it means triggering Forge It Anew, collecting three shards, and returning to Uriashi. For an earlier legendary sword, Durandal is available through the Cursed Chasm quest.
Is the Imbued Sword of St. Mihai the best sword?
It is a compelling late-game target if you want a greatsword, but “best” depends on your build, preferred weapon feel, effects, and upgrade level. The available guides do not establish a highest-damage sword across builds or provide a controlled comparison at equivalent upgrade levels.
Compare weapons at similar upgrade levels against the same enemy type. A sword’s length and handling can matter as much as a damage figure: a faster, shorter weapon may suit a different approach than a greatsword’s reach. The official gameplay recap describes directional attacks, blocking, parrying, and combining swordplay with magic, all of which inform how a weapon fits your combat style.
How to get the Imbued Sword of St. Mihai
This is a quest-crafted greatsword, not a generic vendor purchase or a random chest drop. Follow the Anca/St. Mihai quest chain and make sure the follow-up quest begins after the encounter.

- Complete the relevant Anca/St. Mihai encounter.
- Read the note found in the coffin. This triggers Forge It Anew.
- Check your journal to confirm that Forge It Anew is active. Do not assume the shard hunt has started automatically.
- Collect three shards, each tied to a separate kobold-den encounter.
- Return to Uriashi to finish crafting, then continue along the follow-up ritual route.
The route description identifies the quest trigger and shard count but does not give the individual shard landmarks. Use a detailed walkthrough for exact locations rather than relying on guessed directions.
How to get the early legendary sword Durandal
Durandal is a useful earlier pickup, not a proven overall runner-up to St. Mihai’s sword. PC Gamer’s route begins at the broken bridge in northwest Briar Sloughs.

- Descend the east side of the ravine.
- Defeat the ghosts and claim Durandal.
How to choose between swords
The game’s weapon database groups swords by length—shortsword, longsword, and greatsword—and lists damage, modifiers, weight, and price. Treat those figures as comparison points, not proof that one weapon wins in every situation.
- Timing: Durandal is an earlier route; St. Mihai’s sword is a late-game quest target.
- Length and handling: Decide whether a shorter, quicker feel or a greatsword’s reach better suits your combat style.
- Build fit: Consider weapon effects alongside how you use sword attacks, blocks, parries, and magic.
- Upgrade state: Compare weapons at similar upgrade levels and against the same enemy type.
Game availability and time-sensitive context
Bandai Namco lists The Blood of Dawnwalker for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S; its release announcement is dated September 3, 2026. Check the official game page for platform details.

That provides context for planning, but it is not evidence of current weapon balance. Weapon rankings can also depend on game updates, so check current patch information before treating any guide’s recommendation as definitive.
