Black Tides: Draga’s Wake is an in-development third-person action-horror game set aboard an icebound whaling ship in 1909. Its official trailer introduces smuggler Draga, a missing crew, a doomsday cult, and a transformation tied to an ancient force. The game is not yet available on Steam, and its release date is listed as “To be announced.”

What the official trailer introduces

The trailer is the first official trailer reveal from Strange Creature Factory Ltd. The studio’s Steam announcement says it was also preparing an updated demo for publishers while seeking a publishing deal. The studio describes the project as unfunded up to that point; that is the developer’s statement, not an independently verified account of its finances.

The game’s official site sums up its premise as “An alternate 1900s, where ancient gods and vessels of steam and steel meet in the same black water.” The story is set in 1909, beyond the known world, with the action centered on the Ormora, a colossal whaling steamship trapped in ice. A doomsday cult and something older have taken hold of the ship. The frozen settlement of Driftwood Bay, swallowed by wind and fog, is also part of the setting. See the official game site for the studio’s premise and world details.

Who is Draga?

Draga is a hardened smuggler and pirate first mate. After a final heist goes wrong, he searches the Ormora for his missing crew while an ancient god takes root in him. The official site presents him as a career thief and survivor, not a conventional hero, and frames his central struggle as a choice between the person he was and what he is becoming.

What kind of game is Draga’s Wake?

The developers describe it as a single-player, third-person action-horror game combining exploration with close-quarters brawler combat and quick-fire ranged attacks. The three gameplay pillars named on the official site are “Absorb,” “Confront,” and “Explore.” These are developer descriptions; no hands-on gameplay findings are established here.

Absorb: progression and transformation

Draga can absorb the dead. According to the Steam listing, absorption shapes his skill tree and mutations, as well as the fates of crewmates and survivors he encounters. The developers call his transformed mode the “Vessel State,” which changes how he fights, moves, and sees.

Confront: brawler combat under pressure

The studio describes close-range fighting built around dodges and heavy brawler combos, with quick-fire ranged attacks woven into melee. Ammunition, health, and power are described as scarce, making resource management part of the combat premise.

Explore: ship compartments and a frozen world

Exploration takes Draga through the Ormora’s compartments and into a world shaped by ice, wind, and fog. The setting and search for his crew connect the game’s exploration to its survival-horror story rather than presenting it as a separate sightseeing mode.

When does Black Tides: Draga’s Wake come out?

As of October 7, 2026, Steam says the game is not yet available and gives its planned release date as “To be announced.” No release date is established by the official information cited here, so third-party date estimates should not be treated as confirmed.

Is Draga’s Wake on Steam, and what platforms are listed?

The game has a Steam store page, but it cannot currently be purchased there. The listing identifies Windows 10/11 64-bit and single-player play. Steam currently lists Strange Creature Factory Ltd. as both developer and publisher, while the studio’s own site says it is seeking a publishing partner. The two statements do not establish that an outside publishing deal has been signed.

How graphic is the horror?

Steam’s mature-content note warns of intense fantasy violence and graphic gore, including blood, dismemberment, and disturbing body horror. That warning makes the game a poor fit for anyone seeking horror without explicit violence.

What is known about the studio’s progress?

Strange Creature Factory Ltd. said in its Steam Community announcement that it was preparing an updated demo for publishers as it looked for a publishing partner. The studio also thanked supporters for reaching 10,000 wishlists, a milestone it reported in an announcement dated October 2, 2026. That figure is self-reported, not an independently audited count. Greg J. Strangis, the studio’s owner and creative director, wrote in a developer log that the project grew from wanting a game that treated creature and character design as storytelling rather than spectacle. The studio’s announcement and developer log appear on its Steam Community page.
