Fugitive is a Core multiplayer map in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, set at a desolate CIA black site in Iceland. To play it well, learn how the two exterior spawns, the interior rooms and the vertical links connect before you commit to a push. The Courtyard and Checkpoint punish direct sprints, while the Bridge and Tower are the strongest places to hold awareness.
What Fugitive is and how it is classified
Fugitive appears in the official map catalog as “Core s04 Fugitive,” which places it among the Core maps. Call of Duty’s official map guide, written by Dan Noel and published May 23, 2025, sets the map at the CIA black site and gives its narrative premise: a rescue mission to extract Stitch after the team’s mission in Shutdown.

For context, Activision’s game overview describes the Black Ops 6 launch roster as 16 new multiplayer maps: 12 Core 6v6 maps and four Strike maps playable in 2v2 or 6v6. That is a description of the launch lineup, not a current map count.

The layout at a glance
The map has eight named areas, plus the Guardhouse at the east entrance. The table below summarizes each area’s role, how exposed it is, and the cover or links it offers, based on the official guide.

Spawns and exterior approaches
Recreation Yard (west spawn)
The yard is open, but closed sheds break up sightlines and give you somewhere to stand while you read the field. From here you have three main choices. The double doors lead toward the Cell Block. The middle route reaches the Bridge, and a truck jump carries you to its upper landing. The elevated northern platform offers coverage and a way into Admin.
Entrance (east spawn)
The Entrance is an open field better suited to long-range pressure than close contact. Its protected views come from the Guardhouse and the Tower. The Entrance also connects to the rest of the map through the approach beneath the Bridge, the Tower ascender and a zipline into the Cell Block, which are covered in the vertical links section below.
Interiors: Lobby, Admin and the Cell Block
Lobby and Admin
Sliding doors and a deep stairwell conceal approaches into both rooms, so check these spaces before you push through them. From Lobby, the windows give a view toward the Checkpoint, which is the usual flank to watch. Once you are in the interior, you can cross the Bridge toward the Cell Block or leave outdoors for a longer-range engagement.

Cell Block
At ground level, the octagonal area is the focal point of the map’s interior. The security office gives concealment, and staircases at either end lead up to the Bridge and the cells. Because the Cell Block connects several routes, it is a common place to meet enemies coming from multiple directions.
Cells and ambushes
Any open cell may hide an enemy, because each one has openings on both sides. Four open cells connect to the outside, so they work as ambush spots and as alternate routes. Treat an empty-looking cell with the same caution as a doorway.
Crossing the Courtyard and Checkpoint
Courtyard
Treat the center of the Courtyard as a high-risk crossing. Sightlines can reach it from the Lobby, Admin, Checkpoint, Cell Block, Bridge and Tower. If you need to cross, the narrow path behind the fence gives more concealment and a view through a break in the fence. The raised platform near the Tower is another defensive position once you are on that side.

Checkpoint
The parked truck blocks the narrow sightline here, so a direct crossing is risky. You have two options: use the stone blocks for cover, or jump onto the truck roof to see across. Keep an eye on the Lobby windows while you do either, because that is where a flank is most likely to come from.

The map’s height changes are where its rotations happen. The official guide points to these routes:
- Bridge truck jump: from the Recreation Yard’s middle route, to the Bridge’s upper landing.
- Bridge approach and Tower ascender: from the Entrance side, beneath the Bridge and up to the Tower.
- Entrance zipline: from the east side into the Cell Block.
- Cell 212 zipline: at the end of the hall, providing a route through the cells.
- Ladders and other ziplines: connect map sections elsewhere and can speed rotations or set up an ambush.
The Bridge and Tower are the guide’s recommended power positions for awareness, since they overlook the Courtyard and much of the interior.

Weapons and engagement range
The map splits into two engagement styles. Exterior spaces such as the Entrance and Courtyard reward long-range pressure. Interiors such as Lobby, Admin and the Cell Block are tight, so readiness matters more than reach. The official guide says shotguns and SMGs suit the Lobby and Admin. A pistol or melee option can help at close range. It also advises against sprinting blindly into targets in these spaces.
A practical first session
- Start in a private match, which the official guide recommends as the first step to learning the map’s connections.
- Walk from the Recreation Yard to the Cell Block, then up the Bridge via the truck jump, and note where each route leads.
- Walk from the Entrance to the Tower using the Bridge approach and ascender, then check the Tower’s views over the Courtyard.
- Cross the Checkpoint once using the stone blocks, then once using the truck roof, to compare the exposure.
- Use the Cell 212 zipline and an open cell to see how ambushes and alternate routes connect.
How current this guide is
The official map guide is dated May 23, 2025, more than a year before this article was published. Its layout and tactical notes describe the map as documented on that date. The guide does not establish whether Fugitive is in a live playlist rotation, so check the in-game playlist list before you plan around the map.
