Through the U.S. trading session of October 8, 2026, spot Bitcoin and spot Ether ETFs listed in the United States had combined net outflows of about $986.3 million for October, according to daily tables published by Farside Investors. That is close to, but still below, $1 billion. October is not finished, so treat the figure as a month-to-date total with a stated cutoff.
The October-to-date figures
The total is a sum of Farside Investors’ daily rows for the six U.S. trading sessions from October 1 through October 8, 2026. Farside does not publish this as a monthly total; the subtotals below were calculated from its daily Bitcoin and Ether tables. Figures are in U.S. dollars, rounded to one decimal place in millions, and a positive value means net inflows.
| U.S. trading session | Spot Bitcoin ETF net flow | Spot Ether ETF net flow | Combined net flow |

Bitcoin and Ether ETFs moved differently
The two groups had different patterns across the same six sessions, so they should be described separately before being combined.
#1 Best Overall
Spot Bitcoin ETFs: about $407.4 million out
- Mixed daily direction. Net flows were positive on October 1, 2 and 6, and negative on October 5, 7 and 8.
- Largest outflow day. October 7 recorded $484.9 million in net outflows, the largest single Bitcoin session in this window.
- Second-largest outflow day. October 8 recorded $244.1 million.
Spot Ether ETFs: about $578.9 million out
- Consistent direction. Net flows were negative on all six sessions.
- Largest outflow day. October 6 recorded $201.9 million, the largest Ether outflow in this window.
- Later sessions. October 7 recorded $160.9 million and October 8 recorded $72.5 million.
In dollar terms, Ether outflows over this window were larger than Bitcoin outflows. Because the two products have different asset bases and sizes, that comparison describes where dollars left, not which investors were more committed.
Why the net total hides the swings
The combined figure nets positive and negative sessions together. On October 1 and 2, the combined group recorded net inflows of $199.8 million, driven by Bitcoin. From October 5 through October 8, the combined group recorded net outflows of $1,186.1 million, which is why the month-to-date figure moved toward $1 billion over those four sessions. Reporting only the $986.3 million total would make the early inflows and the concentrated late-week outflows invisible.

Fund-level detail: where the Ether outflows were recorded
Farside’s Ether table attributes flows to individual listed funds. On October 6, the $201.9 million Ether outflow was recorded entirely against BlackRock’s ETHA. On October 7, ETHA accounted for $116.1 million of Ether outflows, with additional outflows across several other listed funds. This is how the reported fund-level flows are attributed. It does not show who the underlying investors were or why they sold.

What ETF flow figures measure
ETF net flows reflect creations and redemptions of fund shares. They are not the same as trading volume in those shares. When one investor sells shares to another in the secondary market, that trade does not by itself mean money left the fund. Net creations and redemptions are the more direct measure of capital entering or leaving a product. TFTC’s Bitcoin ETF flows tracker and explainer describes this distinction and notes that the latest session totals can be revised as issuers report.

What the data cannot tell you
- Cause. The flow tables do not explain why shareholders redeemed during these sessions. Any explanation would need separate evidence.
- Investor type. The data do not separate long-term allocators, traders or hedged positions.
- Price effect. The flows do not establish a causal effect on Bitcoin or Ether prices, or a broader change in sentiment.
- Trend. A October 4 report on the opening sessions of the month cautioned that two sessions are too short to establish a trend. The same caution applies to a month that is still incomplete.
How to check the number before you repeat it
- Open the Bitcoin ETF Flow (US$m) table and the Ethereum ETF Flow (US$m) table.
- Locate the daily rows for October 1 through October 8, 2026, and add the Bitcoin and Ether totals separately.
- Add the two group totals to get the combined figure. Expect about −$407.4 million for Bitcoin, −$578.9 million for Ether and −$986.3 million combined, as of the October 8 session.
- State the cutoff date in any citation, and recheck the live tables immediately before publishing, because the totals can change.
Farside’s pages state: “The above table is generated automatically. Farside Investors is not liable for any errors or inaccuracies in the data.” Attribute the figures to Farside’s tables and avoid presenting them as official issuer statements.
