Bing Wallpaper automatically places a new Bing image on your Windows desktop each day. Microsoft’s current Download Center listing supports Windows 10 and Windows 11. After installation, the app runs from the system tray, where you can browse available images, move to the next or previous image, and open information about the picture.
What Bing Wallpaper does
Bing Wallpaper uses images featured on the Bing homepage as desktop backgrounds. Microsoft describes the daily pictures as “hand-selected just for Bing!” The app also lets you browse images and learn where they come from.
Microsoft’s feature description says you can view images from the previous seven days, choose favorites, or let Bing select images for you. Image detail pages may include a related quiz, a quote, travel information, and a link for more details when those items apply. Availability can vary by device, market, and browser version.

As listed by Microsoft on August 24, 2026, Bing Wallpaper version 1.1.460.0 supports Windows 10 and Windows 11. The listed installer is BingWallpaperInstaller.exe and the displayed download size is 218.5 MB. These details can change, so check Microsoft’s current Download Center entry before installing.

An older Microsoft promotional page says Windows 7 and later. Because that statement conflicts with the newer Download Center requirements, Windows 7 should not be treated as a current support guarantee.
How to install Bing Wallpaper
- Download the current Bing Wallpaper installer from Microsoft’s Download Center.
- Run BingWallpaperInstaller.exe.
- Select Install now and allow setup to finish.
- Open Bing Wallpaper from the Windows system tray. If prompted, allow the browser extension needed by the installer or app.
Microsoft says the software may download and install some updates automatically; it does not specify that every update is automatic or provide a fixed update schedule.

How to change the Bing Wallpaper image
Use Next or Previous
Open Bing Wallpaper from the system tray and use the Next or Previous controls to move through available images. This changes the background without waiting for the next daily update.

Microsoft says the app can show images from the last seven days. Select an image in the app to preview it and open its information page.

Choose favorites or let Bing surprise you
The feature page describes two preferences: select favorite images when you want more control, or let Bing choose the daily background automatically. The exact controls may vary with the installed version and Windows environment.
How to find information about an image
Select the image’s information or link option in Bing Wallpaper to open its detail page. Depending on the image and your location, Microsoft may provide the image’s source or location, a quiz, a quote, travel information, and related links. These extras are not guaranteed for every daily picture.

Does Bing Wallpaper work on Windows 11?
Yes. Microsoft’s current Download Center listing names both Windows 10 and Windows 11 as supported operating systems. For any future compatibility question, use that current listing rather than the older page that mentions Windows 7 and later.

Setup and privacy expectations
Microsoft’s older landing page says installation involves agreeing to Microsoft’s Terms and Privacy Statement and that users may receive promotional offers in the app. Review the current Microsoft terms and privacy notices during setup, because those documents and product behavior can change.

What Bing Wallpaper does not establish
- Microsoft’s pages do not provide a guaranteed update time for the daily image.
- They do not say that every image includes a quiz, quote, or travel information.
- The available sources do not establish comparative performance, memory use, privacy advantages, or reliability versus other wallpaper tools.
The Bottom Line
If you want an automatically changing desktop background from Bing, install the current Microsoft Bing Wallpaper app, open it from the system tray, and use its Next, Previous, favorites, and image-information controls. For current compatibility, rely on Microsoft’s Download Center listing for Windows 10 and Windows 11.
