Lovely Professional University (LPU) is hosting Bharat Innovation Challenge 2.0 for Indian school students in Classes 8–12, ages 13–18. Students enter in teams and submit an online presentation proposing a solution to a real-world problem. A working prototype is not required for Stage 1. The event is advertised as free, but its submission deadline differs between LPU’s event page and Devpost, so confirm the date with LPU before submitting.
What is Bharat Innovation Challenge 2.0?
Bharat Innovation Challenge 2.0 is LPU’s second-season innovation competition for school students. Entrants choose a problem, develop a proposed solution and present it under one of the challenge’s themes. LPU says the top 100 teams advance to an in-person finale at its Phagwara campus in Punjab, where finalists pitch and exhibit their work.
LPU reports that Season 1 involved more than 2,600 teams across 28 states and 500+ cities. Those are figures reported by the organizer, not independently verified participation counts. LPU’s event page describes the challenge as a competition in which students identify real problems, build solutions and pitch them to industry judges.

LPU’s participation guidance says entrants must be school students in Classes 8–12 and ages 13–18. The challenge is described as open across India, and students from different schools may form a team. College students are not included in the stated eligibility.
#1 Best Overall
For team size, LPU specifies two to five students and one mentor. Devpost’s rules instead allow one to five students with a mandatory mentor. If you are considering entering as a solo student, or have another edge case, ask the organizer which rule applies before registering. LPU lists bic@lpu.co.in and +91-9888598702 as challenge contacts.
LPU says there is no registration fee. Its stated entry requirements do not mean students need to buy equipment: a concept presentation is acceptable for the first stage.
What are the themes?
Each team submits its idea under one of the ten themes named by LPU:

What do students submit, and is coding or a prototype required?
Stage 1 is an online PPT or PDF presentation. LPU says it may show an idea, wireframe, mockup, sketch or concept; a working prototype is encouraged but not mandatory at this stage. The event information does not establish that coding knowledge is a prerequisite.
LPU’s suggested presentation topics give teams a practical way to explain the idea:
- The problem, opportunity and shortcomings of existing solutions
- The proposed solution and the technology behind it
- A prototype or demonstration, if available
- Who the intended users are and what impact the solution could have
- Implementation, feasibility and potential to scale
- What distinguishes the idea from alternatives, and the team’s vision
These are suggested topics, not a requirement to build a finished product for the online submission. Hardware may make sense for a project that depends on electronics, but it is not a general entry requirement across the challenge’s themes.

When is the deadline? The published dates conflict
The dates available on October 7, 2026 do not agree. LPU’s event page lists online submissions from July 20 through October 10, 2026, with results on October 15. Devpost’s rules page gives September 30 as the submission deadline, while its event header shows October 8 at midnight IST. Neither page explains the difference.
LPU’s October 10 date is the date shown on the organizer’s event page, but do not rely on it without confirmation: contact LPU using the details above and check the current event listing before uploading. The listed finale dates are November 20–21, 2026.
What happens if a team reaches the finale?
LPU says the top 100 teams advance to the finale at its Phagwara campus. Finalists give live pitches, exhibit prototypes and meet jurors. The organizer says finalist team members receive accommodation, meals and local transportation. Teams should prepare to bring a working prototype, a refined pitch deck and display materials for the event.
The listed logistics apply to finalist team members; they do not establish that travel to Phagwara is covered. Confirm travel arrangements and any details not specified by LPU before making plans.

The organizer also lists theme and jury awards, certificates, mentorship, internships for winning teams, media exposure and a chance of funding. These are advertised opportunities, not guarantees that every entrant—or every winner—will receive an internship, funding or another specific offer.
Best Value
There is an unresolved discrepancy in the advertised total: LPU’s main event page and Devpost say ₹14 lakh+, while an LPU FAQ gives ₹16L+. The available event information does not explain how the FAQ figure is calculated, so treat ₹14 lakh+ as the better-corroborated headline and verify award details with LPU if the total affects your decision.
Should your team enter?
The format may suit students who can identify a specific problem and explain a workable idea, even if they have not built a product yet. Before committing, check the practical points that affect your team:
- Every student fits the stated school-class and age range.
- Your team size and mentor arrangement meet the rule LPU confirms for your entry.
- You can prepare a clear PPT or PDF under one of the ten themes.
- You have checked the deadline directly with LPU because the published dates conflict.
- If selected for the finale, your team can plan for the Phagwara event and prepare a prototype and display materials appropriate to its project.
Participation is advertised as free, and a Stage 1 prototype is optional; the main early commitment is developing and presenting the idea clearly.
