BGMI 2.8.0 was a real update released on October 10, 2023, with the limited-time Zombie’s Edge mode. It is not a current BGMI release: as of August 18, 2026, the Google Play listing shows version 4.5.0, dated July 16, 2026. For playing BGMI now, install the current version through Google Play or start at the official BGMI website. An archived 2.8.0 file is not an official current download, and there is no verified official 2.8.0 APK-plus-OBB bundle to recommend.
What was in BGMI 2.8.0?
KRAFTON released BGMI 2.8.0 on October 10, 2023. Its headline feature was Zombie’s Edge, a themed mode that brought zombie hordes to the battlefield and elite monsters to a destroyed laboratory. Players could defeat enemies to earn power-ups, and the mode introduced new skills and weapons. The update also advertised Royal Pass A2, Cycle 4 Season 13, and a new 1×1 Nusa map. These were features of that update era, not a promise that they remain playable in the live game.
KRAFTON’s 2.8.0 patch notes describe the mode and update content. Zombie’s Edge was a themed mode, not a separate permanent game. Current official listings do not establish that it is available in the 2026 client, so an old version or a modified app should not be treated as a reliable way to play it.

Can you download BGMI 2.8.0 officially today?
There is no reason to treat BGMI 2.8.0 as an official current download. The official Google Play listing offers the current game; its listing showed version 4.5.0 dated July 16, 2026. KRAFTON’s BGMI website is another official starting point and may direct you to the supported distribution route.

Third-party archives preserve historical files and metadata, but they are not KRAFTON’s current distribution channel. The archive evidence identifies 2.8.0 APK variants; it does not verify a currently supported official OBB package. A page titled “APK + OBB” might actually provide an XAPK, a split package, or a repackaged bundle. Do not assume its contents are official because of the page title.
An archived client might install but still fail to connect, log in, download resources, or enter matchmaking. Live services can require a newer build, and server-side content, anti-cheat checks, Android behavior, and the old client may no longer align. Installation success is not proof that the game works.
How to install the current official BGMI release
- Open Google Play and search for BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA.
- Confirm the developer is KRAFTON, Inc. before installing or updating.
- Install the current release, then launch it and let the game download its resources through the official client.
- Sign in using a supported account method. Do not replace the current client with an old build for ordinary play.
If Google Play is unavailable on your device, begin at the official BGMI website or contact BGMI support through its official channels. Sideloading does not remove regional eligibility requirements or make the service globally available; BGMI is intended for players in India.

Historical BGMI 2.8.0 APK variants
APKMirror’s archive records two 2.8.0 APK variants. The figures below are historical archive metadata, not current KRAFTON compatibility or support guarantees.
| Archive variant | Version code | Architecture | Archive minimum Android | Approximate APK size |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BGMI 2.8.0 | 17920 | armeabi-v7a (32-bit ARM) | Android 4.3+ | 70.72 MB |
| BGMI 2.8.0 | 17925 | arm64-v8a (64-bit ARM) | Android 5.0+ | 78.90 MB |
The archive lists package name com.pubg.imobile and target API 33 for the builds. These labels do not show that either file remains supported by the live service or will run reliably on a modern phone. Check a device’s architecture rather than guessing: installing the wrong variant can cause an installation error or a crash. The listings and their metadata are available on the armeabi-v7a archive page and the arm64-v8a archive page.
APK, OBB, XAPK, and split packages: what the labels mean
- APK: An Android application package containing the app and its packaged resources.
- OBB: A separate expansion-data format used by some Android releases. Whether a particular release needs one depends on how it was packaged; an APK listing alone does not establish that an OBB is required or available.
- XAPK: A third-party container that may bundle an APK with OBB data or other files. It is not the same as a standard APK that Android installs by tapping it.
- APKS or split APKs: A set of APK components that generally requires a compatible package installer rather than installing one file alone.
For 2.8.0, archive pages do not use packaging terminology consistently: APK variants are documented, while another listing labels the release “XAPK OBB.” That inconsistency is not proof of an official standalone OBB release. Avoid renaming unknown files or copying unverified data into protected Android folders.

If you are preserving 2.8.0 for archival testing
Archival testing is different from installing a supported game for everyday play. The archive page reports developer attribution, package details, and—in the arm64 listing—signature and hash information. Those are claims published by the archive, not an independent guarantee that a downloaded file is safe. Use a spare device or a permitted test environment, not a primary gaming setup.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Choose only an archive that clearly identifies the original developer, package name, version, and architecture. Treat it as third-party archival material, not an official KRAFTON download.
- Compare the file’s signature and hash with the archive’s published information, and scan it with a trusted security tool before opening it.
- Keep the device offline while inspecting the file, and avoid signing in with a primary account on an unverified or modified client.
- Do not install anything advertised as an anti-ban tool, cheat, script, injector, or restored-mode client. KRAFTON’s rules of conduct prohibit illegal programs and provide for penalties, including restrictions or permanent bans.
- Stop if the installer requests suspicious permissions, redirects to unrelated sites, or requires disabling security protections. Remove the package rather than fetching replacement files from a link-shortener page or cheat forum.
A third-party APK does not bypass BGMI’s regional, account, anti-cheat, or compatibility controls. The archive describes BGMI as intended exclusively for players in India; a sideloaded file is not a way around that limitation.
Compatibility and storage expectations
KRAFTON’s Android help page lists Android 4.4 or higher, an Adreno 306 or higher, and at least 1.5 GB of RAM as a minimum baseline. That page was last updated 851 days before the August 18, 2026 reference date, so it should not be read as a definitive performance recommendation for today’s client. See KRAFTON’s Android system requirements.

Keep three different questions separate: whether an APK’s archive label permits installation, whether the device can run the game acceptably, and whether the current live service accepts that client. The historical archive’s Android minimums answer only the first question. The total storage needed after in-game downloads is not established here, so leave adequate free space and follow the current client’s own prompts rather than relying on a guessed figure.

“App not installed” or a parsing error
The file may be damaged, the wrong architecture, or a package that requires an installer for split files. Do not keep trying unknown downloads. For regular gameplay, remove the questionable package and install the current official version. If an old app conflicts with an installed copy, do not uninstall until you have confirmed your account is linked and you know the supported sign-in method.

Delete a questionable package and use the current official release. Check that the device has free storage and a stable Wi-Fi connection. If Google Play installation itself fails, restart the device and clear the Google Play Store and Google Play Services cache, then retry. If the official route still fails, contact BGMI support; do not download replacement OBB files from unverified pages.

An outdated client may be rejected by the service even when Android installs it successfully. Use the current official release rather than trying to defeat a version check or anti-cheat protection.
Confusing BGMI with PUBG Mobile
They are related but distinct regional products. Check that the product is BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA and that the package is identified as com.pubg.imobile; a PUBG Mobile APK or OBB is not a BGMI download.
