The beyerdynamic DT 275 PRO is a wired, dynamic, closed-back, on-ear monitoring headphone built for people who need portable monitoring in loud places: video sets, live sound desks, side stages, DJ booths and field recording. Its paper case is strong. Beyerdynamic lists a 195 g weight without cable, a 45-ohm nominal impedance, a detachable locking cable and a claimed 22 dBA of ambient noise attenuation. Whether it works well in your workflow depends on things those figures cannot show, such as seal consistency, clamp comfort over a long shift and how the cable behaves on a busy set.

This is an evidence-based guide to what the DT 275 PRO is, what beyerdynamic publishes about it and what is still unverified. It is built on the manufacturer’s July 28, 2026 launch release, its product pages and launch coverage from What Hi-Fi? and TechRadar on the same date. It does not include hands-on listening, comfort, durability or isolation testing, and no independent measurements were found.

Who the DT 275 PRO is for

Beyerdynamic positions the headphone for a specific set of jobs rather than general listening. According to the company’s launch material, the target uses are:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Video production and on-set monitoring, where a camera operator or sound recordist needs to hear dialogue clearly in a noisy location.
  • Live sound, including FOH desk work and side-stage monitoring.
  • Broadcast and field recording, where a portable headphone has to be carried in a bag and used outdoors.
  • DJ cueing and mobile audio monitoring.

Its design choices follow from those jobs. A closed-back, on-ear shell is meant to block outside sound without the bulk of a full-size over-ear model, and the light frame suits people who wear headphones for long periods while moving between locations.

Key specifications, with their source

Every figure below is published by beyerdynamic. None has been independently measured in the sources reviewed, so each should be read as the manufacturer’s stated value under the conditions it names.

Specification Manufacturer figure What the figure means
Frequency response 5 Hz–24,000 Hz Published range; no tolerance or measurement method stated.
Nominal impedance 45 ohms Moderate impedance. Whether your gear drives it well is not stated by the manufacturer for specific devices.
Sensitivity 105 dB SPL at 1 kHz / 1 mW; 119 dB SPL at 1 kHz / 1 Vrms Two measurement conditions. The 1 Vrms figure is the one to compare against a voltage-driven source.
Maximum SPL 125 dB SPL Stated maximum output; test conditions not published in the launch material.
Total harmonic distortion 0.04% at 500 Hz and 0.03% at 1 kHz, at 1 mW Distortion figures at one drive level only.
Maximum short-term power handling 100 mW Short-term rating, not a continuous limit.
Ambient noise attenuation 22 dBA Manufacturer figure; see the isolation section below.
Weight without cable 195 g Headphone only; the cable adds weight.
Cable 1.5 m special detachable cable, coiled and straight versions Connects to either earcup and locks in place.
Connector 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack with 6.35 mm (1/4-inch) adapter Adapter is included in the box.

Isolation: what the 22 dBA claim does and does not tell you

Beyerdynamic states an ambient noise attenuation of 22 dBA. That is a single manufacturer figure. It does not say how it was measured, which noise spectrum was used, or how the result changes with a different head size, glasses, hair or a loose fit. Passive isolation depends heavily on frequency: a closed shell and cushion typically block high-frequency sound better than low-frequency rumble from generators, trucks or stage subwoofers. A single dBA number cannot show that difference.

For a production or live buyer, the practical question is whether the seal holds for your head and whether the sound you need to hear remains audible. Those answers come from wearing the headphone in your actual environment, not from a spec sheet. The figure is useful for comparing the DT 275 PRO against other closed models only if those models were measured on the same basis, which the launch material does not establish.

beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro (80 Ohm), Closed-Back Studio Headphones, Black
  • 80-ohm all-rounder: sounds best from an audio interface or headphone amp; loud enough from most laptops.
  • The tracking standard: closed-back isolation keeps the click and mix out of your mic while you record.
  • Closed-back isolation: passive shielding for vocal booths, podcast desks, and loud rooms.
  • Velour ear pads: replaceable grey velour and a spring-steel headband, built for years of daily sessions.
  • In the box: DT 770 Pro (80 Ohm) with fixed 3m straight cable and 1/4-inch adapter. Made in Germany. Best from an interface or amp.

Beyerdynamic’s own framing is that the product should provide “reliable audio decisions even in challenging environments”. That is a manufacturer claim about intended use, not an independent verdict on how well it performs.

Comfort, weight and fit

The 195 g figure is for the headphone without cable, which makes it a relatively light on-ear design on paper. Weight alone does not determine comfort. An on-ear design presses on the outer ear rather than surrounding it, so clamp force and the material of the pads matter more over a long session than the gram count. Beyerdynamic’s launch material does not publish clamp force figures or pad material specifications, and no comfort trial was carried out for this guide.

If you plan to wear the headphone for a full shift, check these points yourself before relying on it:

beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro (250 Ohm), Open-Back Studio Headphones, Black
  • 250-ohm studio impedance: designed for audio interfaces and headphone amps - it needs one for full volume; not ideal straight from a phone.
  • The mixing reference: the open-back sound studios have trusted for decades, for honest mixes that translate everywhere.
  • Open-back design: wide, natural stereo image so you hear placement and depth while mixing and mastering.
  • Velour ear pads: soft, replaceable grey velour and a spring-steel headband stay comfortable through long sessions.
  • In the box: DT 990 Pro with fixed 3m coiled cable and 1/4-inch adapter. Made in Germany. Pair it with a headphone amp or interface.
  • Whether the headband clamp keeps the earcups sealed without a sore spot after 60 to 90 minutes.
  • Whether your glasses break the seal at the ear.
  • How the headphone sits when you tilt your head or lean toward a monitor or mixing desk.
  • Whether the cushions stay in place when you take the headphone off and put it back on repeatedly.

Cable: routing, locking and compatibility

The cable is one of the more practical features on paper. Beyerdynamic’s official North American product listing says the cable can connect to either earcup and lock in place. That matters for left- and right-hand routing on a camera rig, a headset boom or a DJ setup where the cable has to run to a specific side.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The same listing states that the detachable cable from the DJ 300 PRO X is compatible with the DT 275 PRO. That is the only third-party cable compatibility the manufacturer confirms in the sources reviewed. Do not assume that other detachable cables from beyerdynamic or from other brands will fit, lock or carry the signal correctly. Check the connector type and locking mechanism first, and confirm with beyerdynamic if you need a different cable.

The 1.5 m cable is supplied in coiled and straight versions according to the launch material. A coiled cable reduces tangling on a bag or belt but adds stretch and can transmit more handling noise; a straight cable is simpler to run along a boom or table. Beyerdynamic does not state which version is supplied with which order option in the launch material, so confirm the version you are buying with the retailer.

Replacement parts

Beyerdynamic describes the cushion components and other spare parts as replaceable and reorderable. The sources reviewed do not list part numbers or current replacement prices, so budget for replacement pads and check availability with an authorized dealer before you need them. Replaceable pads matter for a tool-like headphone that will see daily wear, sweat and transport.

Launch statement from beyerdynamic

Martin Stahl, Director of PRO Audio Products at beyerdynamic, described the product in the company’s July 28, 2026 release:

“The DT 275 PRO is a compact monitoring solution that excels in a variety of settings, including on set, at the FOH desk, on the side stage and in the DJ booth,” explains Martin Stahl, Director of PRO Audio Products. “Until now, many professional users had to choose between high sound isolation, neutral sound and a compact, portable design. With the DT 275 PRO, we have combined these different requirements in a single product for the first time. The result is a pair of portable headphones that provide reliable audio decisions even in challenging environments.”

This is a manufacturer statement about the product’s intent. It is not independent validation of the sound or isolation claims.

A pre-purchase checklist for production and live work

Because the independent evidence is limited to launch-stage material, the most useful step before buying is to test the headphone against your own requirements. A short check you can run at a store or with a demo unit:

  • Play a dialogue or vocal track at a normal level in a noisy room, then listen for whether speech stays intelligible with the headphones on.
  • Check transients, such as snare hits or clicks, to see whether the sound is clear enough for cueing or signal checks.
  • Put the headphone on, perform a seal check by covering each earcup with your palm, and note any change in bass response.
  • Confirm the cable locks on both sides, and check the connector fit with the adapter you will actually use.
  • Run the headphone in your typical location for at least one full work session before committing to a purchase.

If your work is mostly quiet studio monitoring, a closed-back on-ear design may not be the right format at all. The DT 275 PRO is aimed at noisy, mobile use.
