What to expect from Star Wars: Galactic Racer
Star Wars: Galactic Racer is scheduled to release on Xbox Series X|S on October 6, 2026, according to Lucasfilm’s announcement. Its revealed setting includes a racetrack on Jakku. Lucasfilm Games vice president and general manager Douglas Reilly said Fuse Games had “such amazing racing chops,” framing the project as a new expression of racing in the Star Wars galaxy.

Forza Horizon 6: start with open-world driving
Forza Horizon 6 is the broadest starting point if you want to roam between events rather than spend your time on formal circuits. Playground Games says it is set in Japan, is available on Xbox Series X|S and PC, and includes over 550 cars. It launched on May 19, 2026, according to the official launch announcement.

If you would rather focus on race tracks than open-world exploration, Forza Motorsport is the clearest contrast. It is available on Xbox Series X|S, and its launch announcement described 20 rebuilt tracks with multiple layouts. That is a launch-content figure from 2023, not a confirmed current track total. The Microsoft Store racing catalog lists it among Xbox racing games and labels it as included with EA Play on the catalog page. Forza Horizon 5: another open-world option
Forza Horizon 5 offers a second open-world route, set in Mexico, with seasonal races and events. Forza’s launch page confirms Xbox play, and Microsoft’s racing catalog also lists the game. These sources establish it as an available catalog option, but do not establish a current price or a quality comparison with the other picks.
