The best wireless gaming headset depends on what you value most: the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Omni is the feature-rich pick, the Audeze Maxwell 2 is the sound-first alternative, and the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 is a capable mid-range choice. For long battery life, the HyperX Cloud III S Wireless and Razer BlackShark V2 Pro (2023) are also worth considering—but their quoted runtimes come from reviewers’ guides, not a single standardized test. Check your console variant and how each model handles Bluetooth before buying.
Best wireless gaming headsets at a glance
| Headset | Best for | Wireless and battery notes | Important trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Omni | Premium features and connection flexibility | TechRadar lists 2.4 GHz dongle, wired audio, Bluetooth 5.3 and LE, and up to 60 hours across two charged batteries. | The 60-hour figure is across two batteries, not one charge; TechRadar also questions its value against the older Nova Pro Wireless. |
| Audeze Maxwell 2 | Sound-focused gaming | SoundGuys lists 90 mm planar magnetic drivers and 80+ hours of battery life. | Sound quality is SoundGuys’ evaluation, not a universal ranking; its guide’s battery figure should not be treated as a guaranteed runtime in every setup. |
| SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 | Mid-range Bluetooth and low-latency gaming | RTINGS reports more than 33 hours of continuous playback and low-latency audio through its USB dongle. | RTINGS notes less stability on the head than some rivals; the family has distinct PC, PlayStation, and Xbox variants. |
| HyperX Cloud III S Wireless | Multi-platform use and a long stated runtime | SoundGuys lists Bluetooth, comfort, and 113 hours per charge. | The 113-hour figure is the guide’s reported product figure; confirm the manufacturer’s conditions before relying on it. |
| Razer BlackShark V2 Pro (2023) | Lightweight build, microphone, and long runtime | Tom’s Hardware reports 70+ hours and dual wireless connectivity. | Its two wireless connections are not simultaneous; this is the 2023 model, not the newer V3 Pro. |
| SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X Wireless Gen 2 | Xbox-friendly multi-connection use | PC Gamer lists 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth 5.0, and wired 3.5 mm connections; it reports 332 g weight. | PC Gamer’s article gives inconsistent Bluetooth battery figures, so check the current manufacturer specification rather than relying on one number. |
These are distinct trade-offs, not results from a single head-to-head test. The linked guides assess the products using their own methods and criteria.
Which headset fits your priorities?
Choose the Nova Pro Omni for connection options
TechRadar’s 2026 guide names the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Omni its best wireless gaming headset overall. It supports 2.4 GHz through a dongle, wired audio, Bluetooth 5.3, and LE. Its Infinite Power System uses two charged batteries for a stated total of up to 60 hours, so do not read that number as continuous runtime from one battery. TechRadar also flags the premium model’s value relative to the older Nova Pro Wireless. See TechRadar’s wireless gaming headset guide.
Choose the Maxwell 2 if sound comes first
SoundGuys names the Audeze Maxwell 2 its best-sound-quality option for gamers. The guide describes 90 mm planar magnetic drivers and reports 80+ hours of battery life. Treat the sound label as that publication’s listening evaluation, and the battery life as its reported product figure—not a promise that every wireless mode or usage pattern will reach it. See SoundGuys’ gaming headset guide.

The guide describes its build as comfortable and well made, but also notes it is less stable on the head than some competitors. Comfort is personal: fit can differ with head size, glasses, and room temperature. The Nova 7 family includes PC, PlayStation, and Xbox variants, so identify the exact one before purchase. Read RTINGS’ Nova 7 family review.
Choose the Cloud III S Wireless for multi-platform flexibility
SoundGuys presents the HyperX Cloud III S Wireless as a versatile multi-platform headset, highlighting Bluetooth, comfort, and long battery life. Its guide lists 113 hours per charge. That is a source-attributed figure, not a universal guarantee; check current product information for the conditions behind the rating. See SoundGuys’ gaming headset guide.
Choose the BlackShark V2 Pro (2023) for a lightweight option
Tom’s Hardware names the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro its overall wireless headset pick and describes it as lightweight and comfortable, with a standout microphone evaluation and 70+ hours of battery life. The model supports two wireless connections, but not simultaneously. Tom’s Hardware compares it favorably with the newer BlackShark V3 Pro for audio and microphone quality; make sure the listing is for the 2023 V2 Pro if that is the model you want. Choose the Nova 7X Wireless Gen 2 for Xbox-oriented flexibility
PC Gamer’s review describes clear sound detail and a decently comfortable fit for the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X Wireless Gen 2. It lists a retractable microphone, 332 g weight, 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.0, and wired 3.5 mm audio. Its battery reporting is inconsistent: the specification table says up to 54 hours over 2.4 GHz and up to 38 hours over Bluetooth, while later text gives different Bluetooth figures and says the reviewer got about 50 hours on a charge. Check the current manufacturer specification for Bluetooth runtime. Read PC Gamer’s Nova 7X Gen 2 review.

Sound quality and positional cues
A reviewer’s “best sound” pick reflects that publication’s listening judgment; it does not establish one headset as best for every game or listener. Consider whether you want a sound-focused model or a broader feature set, and look for evaluations that distinguish general listening quality from positional performance. The available guide descriptions establish the Maxwell 2 as SoundGuys’ sound-first pick and PC Gamer’s Nova 7X Gen 2 review as praising clear detail; they do not provide a standardized, directly comparable positional-audio score across all six models.
Comfort over long sessions
Weight can help narrow options, but it cannot predict comfort by itself. Ear-cup depth and shape, clamp force, heat, glasses, and head size all affect fit. RTINGS describes the Nova 7 as comfortable while noting potential stability and fit limitations; PC Gamer calls the Nova 7X Gen 2 decently comfortable, and Tom’s Hardware describes the BlackShark V2 Pro (2023) as lightweight and comfortable. These are reviewer impressions, not guarantees for every wearer.

Battery life in the mode you will use
Compare battery numbers only after checking what they measure: a single charge or two batteries, 2.4 GHz or Bluetooth, or simultaneous connections. The Nova Pro Omni’s 60 hours is across two charged batteries. Nova 7X Gen 2 figures vary within PC Gamer’s own article. Other figures above are attributed to their respective guides and may depend on product conditions not stated in those summaries. A high headline number is useful only if it applies to your usual connection mode.
Microphone and wireless behavior
Microphone quality matters for team chat, but the available evidence does not provide a consistent, directly comparable microphone assessment for all six headsets. Tom’s Hardware particularly praises the BlackShark V2 Pro (2023) microphone. For connectivity, 2.4 GHz dongles are the gaming-focused low-latency option identified in the Nova 7 coverage; Bluetooth adds flexibility for phones and other devices. Do not assume that two connection types can play at once: the BlackShark V2 Pro (2023) cannot use its two wireless connections simultaneously, while support varies by model.
Quick Recap
Check compatibility before ordering
- Confirm the platform and exact variant. The Nova 7 line includes PC, PlayStation, and Xbox-oriented models. A family name alone does not tell you which version is right for your console.
- Check how the console connects. Confirm that the specific headset and included dongle support your platform; Bluetooth capability does not by itself establish console game-audio compatibility.
- Decide whether you need phone audio at the same time. If you want game audio and a phone connection together, verify simultaneous playback for the exact model. Dual connectivity can mean switching between sources rather than mixing them.
- Verify the battery claim against the mode you use. Check whether the rating is for 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth, wired use, or multiple batteries, and consult the current manufacturer specification when a guide’s figures conflict.
How to choose
- For the widest feature set, compare the Nova Pro Omni’s multiple connection modes with its two-battery runtime and premium-value caveat.
- For a sound-first choice, consider the Maxwell 2 while treating SoundGuys’ ranking as an editorial evaluation.
- For a mid-range option, compare the Nova 7’s low-latency dongle and Bluetooth with the fit and stability caveats in RTINGS’ review.
- For a long stated runtime, look at the Cloud III S Wireless or BlackShark V2 Pro (2023), but verify the conditions and exact model.
- For Xbox-oriented multi-connection use, consider the Nova 7X Wireless Gen 2 and confirm its current mode-specific battery specification.
