The best winter mountain biking gloves depend on the ride: prioritize wet grip and rain protection for damp trails, or warmth and a close fit for dry cold. No glove suits every condition, and extra insulation or a waterproof construction can reduce dexterity and bar feel.
How to choose winter mountain bike gloves
Start with the weather you actually ride in, then balance warmth and protection against the finger movement and grip you need for braking and shifting. A glove that feels warm off the bike may be too bulky for precise controls; a lighter glove may feel better on the bars but leave hands cold in wind or rain.
- Match protection to conditions: distinguish a water-resistant glove from one built with a waterproof membrane. Rain and wet trails make wet grip especially important; dry cold calls for a different balance.
- Consider insulation and ride intensity: lighter insulation can suit active rides, while colder conditions may call for a warmer, bulkier design. Comfort varies with effort, fit, weather and personal cold tolerance.
- Check control: look for a secure palm grip and enough finger mobility to brake and shift without excess fabric.
- Check fit and details: confirm sizing, cuff compatibility and touchscreen use if those matter to you. Trying gloves on or buying from a retailer with a suitable return policy can help resolve fit uncertainty.
There are no established universal temperature ratings for these options here, so use conditions and fit—not a single temperature promise—to guide your choice.

Which glove fits your ride?
For wet trails with variable conditions: 100% Brisker
BikeRadar’s reports make the Brisker a relevant option when wet grip and retained warmth matter, while its reported dexterity may appeal to riders who dislike bulky gloves. Its weaker fit for dry cold and possible shortfall on the chilliest days mean it is not a one-glove answer for every winter ride.
For rain protection: Sealskinz Waterproof All Weather MTB
Consider this option if waterproofing is the priority and you still want reasonable on-bike feel. The close fit reported by BikeRadar makes sizing worth checking carefully; try it on or consider sizing up rather than assuming your usual size will work.

Waterproofing does not by itself establish how confidently a glove grips wet bars, and a warm glove is not necessarily the best choice for every cold ride. Treat these as separate checks. If you are comparing additional models, Singletracks’ winter MTB glove roundup describes testing gloves in cold, rain and freezing conditions; its temperature groupings are approximate editorial categories, not validated universal ratings.
