There is no evidence-based single best VPN for everyone in Mauritius. If you need a Mauritian IP address, NordVPN and Proton VPN currently advertise Mauritius locations; if you need an IP in another country or want protection on unfamiliar Wi-Fi, choose based on that specific goal. Confirm current locations, plan terms and any streaming compatibility directly before subscribing.
Which VPN should you choose for Mauritius?
Start with what you need the VPN to do. A provider listing a Mauritius location is relevant if you want websites to see a Mauritian IP address; it does not establish that the provider’s hardware is physically on the island or that a particular streaming service will work.
| Provider | What its official page says | What that establishes—and what it does not |
|---|---|---|
| NordVPN | Its server directory currently lists Mauritius. | It advertises a Mauritius server location. The listing does not establish physical server geography, measured performance, or streaming access. |
| Proton VPN | Its Mauritius page advertises servers and a Mauritian IP, as well as encryption, WireGuard and VPN Accelerator. | These are provider-reported details, not independent performance results. Confirm feature availability for your chosen plan and test performance on your own connection. |
These listings make both providers reasonable options to investigate if a local IP is your priority, not a tested ranking. The available information does not establish that either is universally best.

- Exit-country locations: Check that the provider lists the country whose IP address you need, and verify the location in its current app or server directory.
- Apps and devices: Confirm support for your phone, computer and other devices before paying.
- Privacy and security: Read the privacy policy and look for clear documentation and independent assurance. A VPN provider’s product description is not, by itself, an independent audit of every aspect of its service.
- Performance: Test on your own connection where possible. Mozilla’s general guidance is that choosing a nearer server can help speed and reliability, but this is not a Mauritius-specific performance measurement: Mozilla VPN server-location guidance.
- Streaming: Check the current terms of both the VPN provider and the streaming service. Current compatibility with any named broadcaster or service is not established here.
- Cost and cancellation: Review the current subscription price, renewal terms and refund conditions on the provider’s site before purchasing.
- Support: Check how to contact support and whether its availability suits your needs.

When a VPN helps—and what it cannot do
A VPN routes your internet traffic through a VPN server. This can mask your apparent IP address and encrypt network activity between your device and the VPN server. Mozilla describes these functions in its Mozilla VPN overview. A VPN is not a promise of anonymity and does not, on its own, prevent malware, phishing or every online risk.

Can you use a VPN to watch MBC or another service from abroad?
A Mauritius exit location may be relevant if a service uses your apparent IP country to determine access, but a server listing does not prove that MBC or another broadcaster currently works through that VPN. Streaming services may apply their own access rules, and compatibility can change. Check the service’s terms and verify access before committing to a long subscription; do not buy on the assumption that a particular program will be available.
