The best VPN for Lebanon depends on where you are and what you need: if you are outside the country and need a Lebanese IP, the comparison below identifies NordVPN, Proton VPN and ExpressVPN as options with Lebanon locations. If you are in Lebanon and want a protected connection to an international endpoint, you do not need a Lebanese server; choose a service and endpoint that work for your needs. The published speed figures available here were measured from a PC in Europe, not on Beirut servers, so they cannot establish performance for someone connecting from a Lebanese ISP.

First decide whether you need a Lebanese IP

A VPN can serve two different Lebanon-related purposes. Someone abroad may need a Lebanese exit location so a website sees a Lebanese IP address. Someone in Lebanon may instead want an encrypted route to a server in another country. The second use does not require a Lebanese endpoint, and a VPN cannot fix a power interruption, ISP outage or weak underlying connection.

For a Lebanese IP, the September 2026 Gizmodo comparison reports Lebanon locations for NordVPN, Proton VPN and ExpressVPN. Proton’s provider documentation says a paid plan can connect to its Lebanese servers to make it appear that you are accessing the internet from Lebanon; its free plan does not include free Lebanon servers. Check each provider’s current server list and plan terms before subscribing, because network availability can change. Gizmodo’s Lebanon comparison and Proton’s Lebanon server page describe these capabilities.

What the published speed tests do—and do not—show

Gizmodo reports that its comparison tests used a PC in Europe with a 190.36 Mbps baseline. The following are that publisher’s reported results, not a ranking of what users in Beirut or elsewhere in Lebanon will experience.

  • EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
  • OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
Provider Reported download Reported ping What the comparison reported
NordVPN 172.50 Mbps 86 ms Beirut IP location; MTV Lebanon playback succeeded
Proton VPN 183.06 Mbps 94 ms “Smart routing” location; Speedtest geolocation in Broummana
ExpressVPN 185.68 Mbps 85 ms IP geolocation in Beirut; MTV Lebanon playback succeeded

All figures and playback observations in the table are Gizmodo’s 2026 results from a European test PC, against its stated 190.36 Mbps baseline. They are useful as a snapshot of that test setup, not a promise of local speed, latency, streaming access or service quality. The comparison is a commercial VPN roundup, so treat its rankings and test results as that publisher’s findings rather than universal or independently established conclusions. See the comparison’s test context.

Which services fit the Lebanese-IP use case?

NordVPN

Gizmodo reports a Beirut IP location, a 172.50 Mbps download result and 86 ms ping from its European test PC, as well as successful MTV Lebanon playback. NordVPN’s server directory lists Lebanon and explains that virtual locations can differ from the physical location of the hardware. The available information does not establish the physical host location for the Lebanese endpoint, so do not assume it is physically in Beirut. NordVPN’s server directory provides its location information.

  • Supports IGMP Proxy/Snooping, Bridge and Tag VLAN to optimize IPTV streaming
  • Access Point Mode - Supports AP Mode to transform your wired connection into wireless network, an ideal wireless router for home
  • Advanced Security with WPA3 - The latest Wi-Fi security protocol, WPA3, brings new capabilities to improve cybersecurity in personal networks

Proton VPN

Proton says paid-plan users can connect to Lebanese servers and appear to access the internet from Lebanon; its free plan does not include free Lebanon servers. Gizmodo reports 183.06 Mbps and 94 ms from its Europe-origin test, describing the location as smart routing or virtual. This makes Proton a documented option to consider when you need a Lebanese IP, but the reported benchmark is not a test from Lebanon. Proton’s Lebanon page and Gizmodo’s test results cover these points.

ExpressVPN

Gizmodo reports 185.68 Mbps, 85 ms ping, Beirut IP geolocation and successful MTV Lebanon playback in its test using a PC in Europe. These observations indicate what happened in that particular comparison; they do not guarantee that a streaming service will work for every account, location or session. If you are in Lebanon and want an international VPN endpoint

A Lebanese server is not a requirement for protecting traffic from Lebanon. Private Internet Access did not offer a Lebanese server in Gizmodo’s test, which rules it out for that comparison’s Lebanese-IP use case, not necessarily for connecting from Lebanon to another country. Its current features and actual performance on your ISP are not established by the cited comparison; check current provider details and test a suitable endpoint before relying on it.

Private Internet Access also recorded a 96% MACE ad/tracker request-blocking result (129 of 135 requests) in Gizmodo’s test. That is a result for the comparison’s test conditions, not proof that every ad or tracker will be blocked, and it does not provide a Lebanese IP. Gizmodo’s comparison reports the server availability and MACE test.

Virtual versus physical Lebanon servers

A virtual location can give a connection an IP address associated with Lebanon while the server hardware is elsewhere. That can be suitable when a service checks the apparent IP country, but IP geolocation does not prove where the hardware is installed. Gizmodo describes Proton’s Lebanon location as smart routing/virtual, and NordVPN notes that virtual locations can be distinct from physically located hardware. For the providers discussed here, the cited evidence does not verify the precise physical hosting location of every Lebanon endpoint. If physical presence in Lebanon matters to you, ask the provider for current, endpoint-specific confirmation rather than inferring it from a Beirut or Broummana geolocation.

What a VPN can and cannot do in Lebanon

Proton VPN’s provider-published guidance says there is no specific law banning VPN use in Lebanon and that use is common there. The same provider cautions that activity conducted through a VPN remains subject to Lebanese law, and notes that politically sensitive use can carry risk. This is provider guidance, not a comprehensive legal opinion or a substitute for current local legal advice. A VPN changes your network route and apparent IP; it does not make you anonymous, legalize unlawful activity, guarantee access to a blocked service or repair an interruption in your internet connection.
