“Unmetered” VPS hosting usually means the provider does not bill by the gigabyte; it does not mean unlimited speed or guaranteed network capacity. A plan’s port speed, shared uplink, regional quota, and fair-use terms can matter as much as its traffic label. Here are representative offers and the policy details readers should check before choosing one.
What does unmetered bandwidth mean on a VPS?
It generally describes billing: the provider does not count transferred gigabytes for an additional per-GB charge. It does not remove the network port’s throughput ceiling. As WebHostingBreak puts it, “Unmetered plans do not count gigabytes. Instead, your throughput is limited by the port speed.” WebHostingBreak’s comparison also distinguishes the plan’s stated speed from the amount of traffic it bills.
A 300 Mbps port is a nominal ceiling, not a promise that the VPS will continuously receive or send data at 300 Mbps. The host may share its uplink among virtual machines, and actual throughput can depend on contention, route, destination, and whether the provider describes the speed as burst or sustained.
Is unmetered the same as unlimited bandwidth?
No. “Unmetered” commonly means no per-gigabyte billing, while “unlimited” is a marketing term whose practical meaning depends on the provider’s policy. A plan can be unmetered yet still impose a port cap, a fair-use rule, workload restrictions, or a regional monthly quota. Check what happens when a limit applies: throttling, suspension, additional charges, or another remedy.

Representative unmetered VPS offers
The table compares only offers described in the cited provider pages or search-result excerpts. These are not a complete ranking of the 17 providers or 87 plans WebHostingBreak says it compared; its page’s title count and body counts do not match. Treat provider performance claims as claims, not independent test results.
| Provider and offer | Stated network terms | Configuration and price | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| voxa.host, six VPS tiers from Ion to Titan | Unmetered traffic; listed speeds run from 100 Mbps to 300 Mbps. The provider says the port is capped at the listed speed and the host uplink is shared. | Ion: 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 20 GB SSD, €4.50/month. Titan: 8 vCPU, 32 GB RAM, 120 GB SSD, €64/month. Prices are in EUR excluding VAT. | Provider plan-card terms accessed October 7, 2026; shared uplink means the advertised port speed is not a dedicated-throughput guarantee. Provider page. |
| FDC Servers, VPS offering | Provider advertises unmetered speeds from 10 Mbps to 50 Gbps. | Displayed high-tier configuration: 24 AMD EPYC CPUs, 128 GB RAM, 2,000 GB NVMe, five IP addresses, root access, snapshot backups, $699.99/month. | Product page accessed October 7, 2026. Treat the stated range and performance/value claims as vendor claims, not independent measurements. Provider page. |
| OVHcloud UK, VPS plans | Provider lists unmetered plans with plan-dependent speeds from 250 Mbps to 2 Gbps. | Specific plan configurations and prices: not stated in the cited page details. | Asia-Pacific VPS options have separate monthly quotas: 1 TB for VPS-1 and VPS-2, 3 TB for VPS-3 and VPS-4, and 4 TB for VPS-5 and VPS-6; after the quota, speed is capped at 10 Mbps. These terms are specific to those regional options. UK product page. |
| Contabo, Cloud VPS Plus 4 | Search-result excerpt lists a 500 Mbit/s port and “Unlimited Traffic*.” | 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 150 GB NVMe, $10.80/month. | The excerpt says incoming traffic is unlimited and unmetered and usage must align with typical server workloads. Full policy and current price were not confirmed on the page; verify before purchase. US pricing page. |
| Contabo, Storage VPS 30 | Search-result excerpt lists a 600 Mbit/s port and “Unlimited Traffic*.” | 6 vCPU, 18 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, $11.20/month. | The same excerpt says incoming traffic is unlimited and unmetered and usage must align with typical server workloads. Full policy and current price were not confirmed on the page; verify before purchase. US pricing page. |
| Unmeterd, managed VPS | Search result advertises a 10 Gbps managed VPS. | 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 50 GB NVMe, from $8.49/month. | Search-result/provider claim; confirm the offer, price, network terms, and renewal rate on checkout. Provider site. |

How to assess the bandwidth policy
Find the actual speed ceiling
Look for a port rate in Mbps or Gbps and determine whether it applies to inbound traffic, outbound traffic, or both. Ask whether the rate is burstable or sustained, and whether it is dedicated to your VPS or shared. For example, voxa.host explicitly says its host uplink is shared, so its listed port rate should not be read as guaranteed, continuous throughput.

Check quotas and fair-use remedies
Read the terms for monthly caps, acceptable workloads, and the provider’s response to high usage. OVHcloud UK’s Asia-Pacific quota schedule demonstrates why a country-specific product page cannot establish terms for every region. Contabo’s search-result excerpt says traffic should align with typical server workloads, but the full policy should be checked before relying on it for sustained high-volume transfer.

Match capacity to the workload
- Downloads, file mirrors, and media delivery: prioritize sustained outbound capacity, route quality to your audience, and the remedy for heavy usage.
- Backups and synchronization: check transfer direction and whether uploads are treated differently from downloads.
- Busy APIs and update servers: consider peak concurrency and whether throughput is shared with other virtual machines.
- Unpredictable traffic spikes: confirm that a temporary burst will not trigger throttling, suspension, or a bill you did not expect.
What else to compare before buying
Bandwidth alone cannot establish whether a VPS fits. Compare the full offer, with the same region and billing term where possible.
Rank #3
- CPU allocation, RAM, and whether resources are shared or dedicated.
- Storage type and capacity, such as NVMe versus SSD.
- Data-center locations and network routes to your users.
- DDoS protection, uptime commitments, and any SLA exclusions.
- Support availability, refund terms, billing cadence, and renewal price.
- Any setup fee, tax, or promotional-price condition.
WebHostingBreak says its comparison data was checked between May 13 and September 17, 2026, and its provider terms can change. DreamHost’s page, for example, says it has no transfer caps or per-GB overage fees subject to its terms. It also presents competitor overage calculations as of June 2026: for 10 TB/month of outbound transfer, DreamHost lists $0 in overage, compared with $810 for AWS Lightsail, $90 for DigitalOcean, $75 for Vultr, and $45 for Linode/Akamai. Those are DreamHost’s own comparison figures, based on stated rates after included allowances, not an independent audit. DreamHost VPS page.
Before ordering, confirm the selected region, exact plan, current and renewal price, and complete bandwidth policy on the provider’s checkout or terms page. The prices and configurations above are snapshots, and some cited offers were visible only in search-result excerpts.
