For a home speaker at the lowest listed U.S. price, choose the Sonos Era 100 SL at $189; step up to the $219 Era 100 if you want built-in voice control. For a portable speaker that also fits into a home setup, consider the $299 Sonos Play. Choose Roam 2 for travel, Move 2 for a larger portable speaker, Era 300 for Dolby Atmos spatial music, Five for flagship home listening with line-in, or Beam Ultra if your priority is TV sound rather than a conventional music speaker.
The prices here are U.S. prices in Sonos’s 2026 materials, checked against the information available October 3, 2026. Prices, stock, and software compatibility can vary by country and change over time. Sonos does not publish comparable prices for every model in the materials cited here, so those prices are marked as not stated rather than estimated.

Choose by room, mobility, and listening priorities rather than assuming one model is universally best-sounding: the available information does not establish a controlled sound-quality ranking across the lineup.

Best lower-cost home speaker: Sonos Era 100 SL
The Era 100 SL is the economical way into Sonos’s home-speaker range if you do not need voice commands through the speaker itself. Its stereo presentation and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity suit everyday music listening; line-in readiness provides a wired-input path, and Trueplay room tuning is available for iOS. You can use one on its own, pair two for stereo, or use compatible units as surround speakers.
#1 Best Overall
- The new acoustic architecture replaces Move's single tweeter with two, unlocking a higher-fidelity stereo soundstage with crisp vocals and detailed instruments. With deep, dynamic bass powered by the precision-tuned woofer, you'll feel the emotional charge of a live performance.
- With automatic Trueplay tuning, Move 2 continually optimizes the sound for its surroundings. So, no matter where you are or what you play, you get the best listening experience.
- Listen twice as long as with the previous generation. All the acoustic updates work in concert for increased efficiency, giving you up to 24 hours of playback on a single charge.
- Shock absorbent materials protect against accidental drops, and the IP56 rating ensures spills, splashes, rain, dirt, and dust don't dampen your listening experience.
- Use the built-in handle to bring your music from one place to the next. When the battery needs a boost, set Move 2 on the included Wireless Charging Base, upgraded with a detachable power cable and more compact adapter. Charge on the go with any USB-PD power supply.
Its key trade-off against the Era 100 is straightforward: the SL omits built-in voice control. If voice control matters, the small price step to the Era 100 is the more relevant comparison than choosing a larger model simply for its position in the lineup.
Best compact all-rounder: Sonos Era 100
Choose the Era 100 when you want a compact speaker with more ways to control and connect it. Alongside Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, it supports AirPlay 2 and line-in, includes built-in voice control, and is humidity resistant. Sonos says its woofer is 25% larger than the Sonos One’s; that is a manufacturer comparison, not an independent listening test.
For a bedroom or another room where a single compact speaker is enough, it combines the usual home-speaker role with the option of voice control. Two Era 100s can be set up as a stereo pair, or used in a surround setup. If you do not need voice control, the Era 100 SL keeps the core stereo and connectivity proposition for less.

- Stream over WiFi, pair via Bluetooth, or connect a turntable and more with line in.

Best for Dolby Atmos spatial music: Sonos Era 300
The Era 300 is the model to consider when the listening format itself is a priority. Sonos positions it as a speaker built for Dolby Atmos spatial audio, so it is a more targeted choice than the Era 100 models for listeners seeking an immersive spatial-music presentation.
Do not choose it on the assumption that every track will sound spatial or that it is automatically the best option for every room. The recommendation is specifically for people who value Dolby Atmos music; the supplied product information does not establish a universal sound-quality ranking.
Best portable/home crossover: Sonos Play
Introduced in March 2026, Sonos Play sits between a travel-first speaker and a home-centered model: Sonos describes it as portable and waterproof, and TechRadar places it between Roam 2 and Move 2 for portability and between Era 100 and Era 300 in the home range. At $299 U.S., it makes sense for someone who wants one speaker to move between home use and outings, rather than buying solely for the smallest travel footprint or the largest portable presentation.
Rank #3
- Precision-engineered drivers produce size-defying clarity and bass
- Ultra compact and lightweight so you can bring Sonos sound anywhere
- Durable, IP67 waterproof and dustproof, and ready for outdoor adventures
- Rechargeable battery gives you up to 10 hours of listening time
- Automatic Trueplay fine-tunes the sound for each new environment
Its general availability began March 31, 2026. If your main criterion is maximum portability, the Roam 2 is the clearer fit; if you want a larger portable presentation, look at Move 2.

For trips and compact carry, Sonos describes Roam 2 as ultra-portable and waterproof. That makes it the lineup’s travel-oriented recommendation when minimizing size and prioritizing portability matters more than choosing a larger speaker for a room-filling presentation.
Best larger portable speaker: Sonos Move 2
Choose Move 2 when you want a bigger portable option for use both at home and outdoors. Sonos calls it a flagship portable speaker. It is a more suitable direction than Roam 2 when the emphasis shifts from travel convenience to a larger portable listening setup.

Best flagship home listening with line-in: Sonos Five
Five is Sonos’s flagship HiFi speaker, described by the company as offering deep bass and line-in. It is the pick for a home listening setup where that flagship positioning and a physical input are important, rather than for portability or TV connection. Sonos’s catalog does not provide a comparable U.S. price here.

Beam Ultra is a soundbar, not a conventional music speaker, so it belongs on the shortlist when TV audio is the main job. Announced September 1, 2026, at $699 U.S., it offers true 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and HDMI eARC. Sonos gave September 29, 2026, as its general availability date.

How to choose: room, mobility, and expansion
Start with where the speaker will live
- One room, everyday listening: compare Era 100 SL and Era 100 based on whether built-in voice control is worth the difference.
- Music that moves with you: choose among Play, Roam 2, and Move 2 according to whether you want a home/portable crossover, maximum travel portability, or a larger portable speaker.
- Immersive music: consider Era 300 when Dolby Atmos spatial audio is a specific priority.
- TV sound: start with Beam Ultra if you need a soundbar and HDMI eARC, rather than treating a music speaker as a direct substitute.
Decide how you will connect and control it
Voice control separates Era 100 from Era 100 SL. For a physical audio source, Era 100 and Five are documented with line-in; Era 100 SL is described as line-in ready. Bluetooth is listed for Era 100 SL, Era 100, and Beam Ultra. AirPlay 2 is specifically listed for Era 100. Check the current product details for the exact adapter or accessory required for a wired connection before buying.
Plan the system you may want later
If you might expand beyond one speaker, Sonos documents stereo pairing and surround use for Era 100 SL and Era 100. Official speaker sets and Beam Ultra surround bundles also show upgrade paths within the system. Confirm which combinations are supported for the products you own and the configuration you want before purchasing; the available product information does not establish every possible model combination.
What changed in Sonos’s 2026 lineup
Sonos’s wireless-speaker catalog lists Era 100, Era 100 SL, Era 300, Five, Roam 2, Sonos Play, and Move 2. Sonos announced Play and Era 100 SL on March 10, 2026; both became generally available March 31. Beam Ultra was announced September 1 and became generally available September 29, 2026. Those dates distinguish the newer additions from the broader catalog, but do not guarantee current stock in every country.
