The best smart scale depends on what you want to track and which app you already use. For routine weight and estimated body-composition trends, consider the Withings Body Smart; for a broader feature set, compare the Withings Body Scan 2. Garmin users may prefer the Garmin Index S2, while the Eufy Smart Scale P2 Pro is another feature-rich option. Treat body-fat and other composition readings as estimates, not clinical measurements, and do not treat a scale’s heart-related features as a diagnosis.
Which smart scale should you choose?
Start with the feature you will actually use. A scale that reliably records your weight in an app you already check may be more useful than one that displays many additional estimates. If you are comparing models, separate routine weight tracking, estimated body composition, and heart-related features; they are not interchangeable benefits.

Weight is not the same as body composition
A scale measures body weight directly. Many smart scales also estimate body composition using bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), which sends a small electrical current through the body and measures impedance. Withings explains that its method estimates total body water, uses that estimate to calculate lean mass, then derives body fat from the difference between lean mass and weight. That chain makes body-fat output an estimate rather than a direct measurement. Withings also notes that excess scar tissue may affect composition readings while not affecting weight readings. Trends are more useful than a single composition reading
Because composition values are estimates, interpret them as a trend from repeated measurements rather than ground truth about your body on a particular day. The reviewed material does not provide a definitive clinical head-to-head accuracy study across the models in this guide. If a number seems surprising or matters to a health decision, do not use the scale alone to settle the question.

What heart-related features can—and cannot—tell you
Feature lists for higher-end scales may include heart rate, vascular-age or pulse-wave features, ECG, and atrial fibrillation (AFib) detection. How to decide between the options
- Choose your main use. If your priority is weight history, focus on app syncing and an easy-to-read record. If it is composition, remember that body-fat output is estimated by BIA. If you want extra cardiovascular-related features, check their exact availability and limitations.
