If you want a smart ring that tracks sleep, activity, and general wellness without a required monthly or yearly fee, two options have clear manufacturer statements behind them in 2026: the RingConn Gen 2 and the Samsung Galaxy Ring. A third, the Ultrahuman Ring AIR, appears in independent 2026 buying guides as a no-subscription choice, but its sales are restricted in some markets. We have not expanded this list to ten. The sources we could confirm support three rings, and the sections below explain what each one does and does not guarantee.
What “without subscription” means in this guide
In this guide, a ring counts as subscription-free when its core data and useful insights are available without a required recurring paid plan. Optional paid add-ons are a separate question, and a ring can be subscription-free at its core while still offering paid extras. Two other costs matter just as much: the upfront ring price, and the phone and app requirements that decide whether the insights work for you at all.

The three rings in detail
RingConn Gen 2
RingConn’s official page describes the Gen 2 as a multi-metric health-tracking ring that requires no subscription. It is the clearest manufacturer-level statement of the three for readers who want several tracking categories without a fee. The page also presents sleep-apnea monitoring as a feature. Read that as a product feature, not a diagnosis (see the section on tracking claims below).

WIRED’s 2026 roundup also names the Gen 2 as a subscription-free option and points to its charging case and relatively modest price as strengths. WIRED’s comments are independent comparative context; they are not a lab test of the ring.

Be careful with model names. RingConn also sells a Gen 2 Air, which is a different product. Confirm the model, price, and included features on the page you are buying from.
Samsung Galaxy Ring
Samsung Newsroom India says the Galaxy Ring’s data and insights are “integrated into Samsung Health for seamless access within one cohesive platform without a subscription.” That statement is specific to Samsung’s India announcement, and it is an official company claim rather than an independent evaluation. The same announcement describes sleep analysis, a Sleep Score, snoring analysis, and Samsung Health wellness insights.

The phone requirement is the main buying filter. Samsung’s product information calls for a compatible Android smartphone, the Galaxy Wearable and Samsung Health apps, and a Samsung account. If you use an iPhone, the Galaxy Ring is not a practical choice under these requirements. The $399.99 figure above is the US listing price at the time we checked it; it is not a fixed 2026 price, and regional prices will differ.
Ultrahuman Ring AIR
TechRadar’s 2026 guide includes the Ultrahuman Ring AIR among alternatives for buyers who want to avoid ongoing subscription fees, and it notes the ring’s low weight. Tom’s Guide reports that Ultrahuman and Luna rings are blocked from sale in some markets amid legal proceedings. That report describes the situation at the time of its comparison, so confirm current sales status where you live before buying. Because its no-subscription status comes from independent guides rather than a manufacturer statement we could verify, treat it as a conditional option.

Why the list stops at three
Other rings appear in search results as no-fee alternatives, including the Amazfit Helio Ring and the Circular Ring 2. We could not confirm current manufacturer terms, compatible phones, or local sales status for them, so they are not ranked here. If you are considering one of them, check the maker’s current product terms before paying for the ring.
Sizing comes before ordering

Tracking claims: what they do and do not mean
Samsung describes the Galaxy Ring’s health tracking as general wellness and fitness functionality. It states the ring is not intended to diagnose or treat medical conditions. The same boundary applies to the RingConn’s sleep-apnea monitoring feature. Use readings from any of these rings to spot trends and start conversations with a clinician, not to make medical decisions on your own.
Battery life claims are not directly comparable
Battery estimates come from each manufacturer, and Samsung notes that its estimates depend on ring size and use. We did not find a common controlled test covering all three rings, so the “up to” figures should not be compared as if they were measured under the same conditions.

- Confirm that the phone you use is on the maker’s compatibility list, especially for the Galaxy Ring.
- Check whether the price shown is a list price or a sale price, and note the date you checked it.

If you use an Android phone and want the Samsung Health ecosystem, the Galaxy Ring is the better-documented choice. If you want multi-metric tracking without a subscription and do not need Samsung’s phone ecosystem, the RingConn Gen 2 is the stronger starting point. The Ultrahuman Ring AIR is worth considering only after you confirm it is available where you live.
