There is no single best Samsung tablet. The right choice depends on your budget, whether you want a portable screen or a large one, whether you will use the S Pen, and how demanding your work is. For most buyers, the Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ is the value pick, the Galaxy Tab S11 is the portable premium choice, and the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is for people who want the largest screen and top performance and are willing to pay for it.
This guide reflects Samsung’s US lineup as shown on its comparison page (accessed October 7, 2026) and a buying guide from Tom’s Guide dated October 1, 2026. Prices and promotions change quickly and vary by country, so check the live listing before you buy.
Choose by use case first
Best value for most people: Galaxy Tab S10 FE+
Tom’s Guide names the Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ as its best overall pick in its October 1, 2026 guide. It has a 13.1-inch LCD screen with a 90 Hz refresh rate, an S Pen included, and a battery that Tom’s Guide tested at 15 hours and 43 minutes in its own video playback test. The guide put the price below $500 at the time of writing; treat that as a dated observation, not a guaranteed current price.
The trade-off is performance. Tom’s Guide describes the chipset as low-powered and suited to casual use. It is a good fit for browsing, streaming, note-taking, reading, and light gaming. It is not the right choice for demanding games or heavy video editing. Samsung’s comparison lists the S10 FE+ with a 21-hour “up to” video playback claim, measured under Samsung’s own test conditions.

Best portable premium tablet: Galaxy Tab S11
The Galaxy Tab S11 is an 11-inch tablet with a Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen, a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, and a MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ processor. Samsung lists its Wi-Fi weight at 1.03 lb, which makes it the lightest option in this comparison that Samsung gives a weight for. An S Pen is included, the tablet is rated IP68, and it supports DeX. Storage ranges from 128 GB to 512 GB, with microSD expansion up to 2 TB.
Samsung rates the S11 at up to 18 hours of video playback. That is the lowest claim among the flagship models listed on Samsung’s comparison page, so expect shorter runtimes than the larger S11 Ultra and S12 models under the same test conditions.

Best large-screen performance: Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra
The S12 Ultra has a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen, a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, and the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor. Samsung lists its Wi-Fi weight at 1.52 lb, up to 23 hours of claimed video playback, IP68 rating, and storage configurations up to 1 TB. The S12+ is the smaller sibling with a 12.6-inch AMOLED screen and the same processor family, and it is listed at up to 21 hours of video playback.

Samsung’s comparison page lists the lower-cost models with either an Exynos 1380 or a MediaTek MT8775, but the processor assignment for each model is not stated in the comparison, so the table leaves those cells blank rather than guess.

Screen size, refresh rate and performance
The biggest practical gap in the lineup is between the AMOLED, 120 Hz flagship models and the LCD, 90 Hz models. AMOLED panels show deeper contrast and darker blacks, and the 120 Hz refresh rate makes scrolling and pen strokes look smoother. The S10 FE and S10 Lite use LCD panels, and the A11+ uses a TFT panel, all at 90 Hz in Samsung’s listing.
Processor names are not a reliable ranking on their own. Samsung’s listed chips run from the Dimensity 9500 in the S12 pair, through the Dimensity 9400+ in the S11 pair and the Dimensity 9300+ in the S10+, to the lower-cost Exynos 1380 and MediaTek MT8775 models. For real-world speed, rely on independent testing of the specific model rather than the chip name alone.

S Pen and keyboard covers
- S11 series: the S Pen is included with the S11 series.
- Other models: Samsung’s comparison lists the S Pen with many of its tablets, but the A11+ is not compatible with it. Confirm S Pen compatibility on the product page for the exact model before you buy.
- Keyboard covers: Book Cover Keyboards are sold separately and are model-specific. Samsung’s March 2026 MSRP sheet lists an S11 Book Cover Keyboard Slim and a separate Book Cover Keyboard for the S10 FE+. Do not assume a keyboard for one model fits another.
Reading the battery claims
Samsung’s video playback figures are “up to” estimates from its own controlled test. The test used local 720p video, the default player, 162-nit brightness, earbud volume at 7, and wireless networks off. Samsung says results vary with settings, usage, and other factors.
That means the 23-hour figure for the S12 Ultra and S11 Ultra is not a promise of everyday runtime. Tom’s Guide’s 15 hours and 43 minutes for the S10 FE+ came from a different test, so it cannot be compared directly with Samsung’s 21-hour claim for the same model. Use the figures to rank models against each other, not to predict how long your battery will last.
Storage, durability and software support
- Storage: The S11 comes in 128 GB to 512 GB configurations, and the S12 Ultra goes up to 1 TB. microSD cards are sold separately, and Samsung lists expansion up to 2 TB for the S11 and up to 1.5 TB for the S10+. Confirm the exact model supports the card size you need.
- Water resistance: Samsung lists IP68 for the S11, S12, S10+, and S10 FE models. It is not listed for the S10 Lite or the A11+. Samsung describes IP68 as protection in up to 5 feet of water for up to 30 minutes, and it provides rinse and drying guidance. These are Samsung’s ratings, not results from an independent test.
- Software support: Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S11 FAQ states: “Galaxy Tab S11 Series is eligible for up to 7 generations of Android OS upgrades, along with 7 years of security updates from the date of global launch.” This is a support commitment from Samsung, not a benchmark result.
Checklist before you buy
- Set a budget and check the current price for the exact model and storage configuration in your country.
- Decide whether you need a screen larger than about 12 inches. If you mainly read or stream, a smaller model is easier to hold.
- If you need the S Pen, choose an S11 model or confirm compatibility with the model you prefer.
- If you plan to type for long periods, buy the Book Cover Keyboard listed for that exact model.
- If you need more than the built-in storage, confirm the model supports microSD and buy the card separately.
- Read battery claims as controlled estimates, and compare them only between models tested under the same conditions.
