For U.S. buyers who want a manufacturer-refurbished Galaxy with a clearly stated battery policy and warranty, Samsung Certified Re-Newed is the strongest starting point. Its current U.S. catalog includes the Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra; choose among them by size and features, then confirm the model, storage, price and terms on the live listing. Samsung’s catalog and stock can change.
Which refurbished Samsung phone should you choose?
There is no evidence-backed universal winner: the right choice depends on whether you want a more manageable everyday phone, a larger device, or the Ultra’s camera features and built-in S Pen. Samsung’s U.S. Certified Re-Newed page currently lists the S23 family and describes differences in camera and storage configurations. Use the exact listing to compare them rather than relying on a stale price or a model name alone. Samsung Certified Re-Newed Smartphones
- Galaxy S23: Consider it for an everyday phone if its size, storage and current listing price suit you.
- Galaxy S23+: Compare it with the S23 if you prefer a larger phone; check the live listing for its available configuration and price.
- Galaxy S23 Ultra: Consider it if you specifically want the Ultra camera setup and built-in S Pen. Its features may be unnecessary if you do not use them.
These are buyer-fit recommendations based on Samsung’s listed models and features, not independent performance rankings or claims that one is the best-priced refurbished phone on the market.

Samsung says its U.S. Certified Re-Newed phones are cleaned, tested and restored to like-new condition by Samsung technicians using genuine Samsung parts. The company says each device receives a new Samsung battery and updated software, passes a 147-point quality test, and is unlocked and compatible with the buyer’s carrier choice. Samsung also states a one-year limited warranty and free returns within 28 days. The battery policy is particularly important: Samsung states that its U.S. program supplies a new battery. Do not assume a marketplace seller offers the same replacement, inspection, warranty or return coverage just because a listing uses the word “refurbished.”
How to compare refurbished listings before buying
Use the same model and storage configuration when comparing offers. A lower headline price is not necessarily a better value if it comes with a weaker battery policy, shorter return period or less protection.

- Display: 6.2" AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and 1300 nits brightness for vivid visuals and smooth scrolling.
- Camera: Rear dual camera system with 64MP main and 12MP ultrawide lenses for stunning photos and videos.
- Memory: 128GB internal storage and 8GB RAM for plenty of apps and files.
- Connectivity: 5G capable with support for GSM, CDMA, and Wi-Fi networks.
- Battery: 4000mAh battery provides all-day power for your daily needs.
- Confirm the exact phone. Check model, storage, condition grade, and whether it is actually in stock. Do not assume every S23-family configuration is available.
- Compare the full cost. Check the current price for the same model and storage, plus tax and shipping. Account for trade-in requirements or a required plan, if any.
- Read the battery and refurbishment policy. Find out whether the battery is new, has a stated health threshold, or may be replaced, and who performed the inspection and repairs.
- Check protection and returns. Identify the warranty duration, exclusions, repair contact and return window. Confirm who handles a repair if something goes wrong.
- Verify network compatibility. Samsung says its U.S. Certified Re-Newed phones are unlocked, but for any listing confirm the exact device works with your carrier and its network requirements.
- Compare seller terms, not just the label. A third-party or marketplace refurbished phone is not automatically part of Samsung’s program. Read that seller’s condition grading, warranty and return terms before checkout.
What about older Galaxy S22 and S21 models?
Samsung’s U.S. page also lists models from the S22 and S21 families. An older phone’s lower displayed price alone does not establish better value. Compare the specific listing’s condition, availability, battery policy and current price with newer options. The cited Samsung material does not verify the remaining software-update duration for each refurbished SKU, so check support information for the exact model before buying if update longevity is a priority. Availability and warranty outside the United States
Samsung announced on January 13, 2026 that Certified Re-Newed availability for the Galaxy S25 series began in Germany and the UK; France uses the separate name “Refurbished Premium by Samsung.” Samsung describes in-house inspection and refurbishment, genuine parts, updated software and more than 100 quality tests for the announced European program. It says the warranty is the same as for new Galaxy devices but may vary by country, and that eligible replacement parts depend on the phone’s condition. The announcement says expansion to other markets may depend on demand; it does not establish availability everywhere in Europe or elsewhere. How to make the final choice
Start with the S23 family if you are buying in the U.S. and want to compare Samsung’s stated manufacturer-refurbishment terms. Pick the model whose size and features fit your use, then compare the current like-for-like listing against other sellers using battery assurance, condition, compatibility and protection—not the word “refurbished” or an old price alone. If buying outside the U.S., first confirm that Samsung’s relevant program is available in your country and read its local terms.
