- Shoulder seam: Look for the seam to sit near the edge of your shoulder. A seam that falls well down the upper arm can make the whole jacket look oversized, even if the hem is the right length.
- Sleeves: Check where the sleeve ends while your arms hang naturally. It should stop at a point you find comfortable without covering your hand. If the shoulders and body fit but the sleeves are long, decide whether that alteration is practical before buying.

If you want a blazer beyond formal workwear
Try the jacket with jeans or other casual pieces you already wear. A less formal fabric or a shorter cut may integrate more easily, but use the same shoulder, sleeve and movement checks. Do not rely on a listing’s styling photos to establish how an oversized or long silhouette will fall on you.
