There is no verified universal “best parts” build for every aircraft in Ace Combat 8. The useful setup depends on the sortie’s targets, the aircraft and parts actually available to you, and whether you are playing the campaign or online. Bandai Namco’s guidance is explicit: “Different missions call for different loadouts.”
This guide gives you a practical way to choose parts for each aircraft’s job without passing untested combinations off as proven rankings. The official material identifies air combat, ground support, and naval strikes as distinct mission contexts, but does not publish a complete aircraft-by-aircraft parts table or controlled comparisons of part performance.

Why there is no reliable universal best-parts list
Bandai Namco says players can freely combine aircraft upgrade parts to tailor a fighter to a mission, and advises choosing an aircraft for the mission objective and playstyle. That supports role-based loadout decisions; it does not establish that a particular part is optimal on a particular aircraft. The publisher’s official walkthrough does not give a complete list of aircraft slots, compatible parts, tested combinations, or a universal ranking.

Choose parts by the sortie’s target mix
Start with what the mission asks you to destroy or protect. The game’s official overview names dogfights, ground support, and naval strikes, which are useful categories for deciding what problem a loadout should solve. They are not proof that a particular part combination wins those missions.
Air targets and dogfights
For a sortie centered on enemy aircraft, choose an available aircraft and special weapon suited to air combat. Use parts to address the limitation you notice in that aircraft or your own playstyle, rather than assuming every air-focused build should maximize the same attribute. Verify the part’s effect and compatibility in the game; the official sources reviewed do not provide comparative part statistics.
Ground targets and support
When the objective emphasizes ground targets, build around the aircraft’s ability to perform that job and the weapons available for the sortie. A part is worth choosing when its in-game effect addresses a specific bottleneck for your setup. The official mission categories establish ground support as a distinct context, but do not identify a single best aircraft or set of parts for it.

Naval targets
For naval strikes, prioritize an aircraft and weapon configuration that can engage the mission’s naval targets. Check the sortie objective and the aircraft’s available equipment rather than transferring a ground-attack or dogfight setup unchanged. The publisher identifies naval strikes as a mission type, but does not publish a tested optimal parts package for them.
Mixed objectives
If a mission includes more than one target type, decide which objective is most likely to constrain success and build for it, while preserving enough capability for the secondary targets. The right compromise depends on the specific aircraft, weapon, and available parts; there is no evidence-backed universal mixed-target setup.
A pre-sortie method for choosing parts
- Read the objective. Identify whether the sortie emphasizes air, ground, naval, or mixed targets.
- Choose an eligible aircraft. Select one that can perform the required role and is available for that sortie.
- Check restrictions and slots. Confirm the sortie permits the aircraft and that its actual part slots accept the equipment you intend to use. Do not assume all aircraft share the same slots or compatibility.
- Equip for a named need. Pick a part because its displayed effect addresses your aircraft’s role or a specific weakness in your setup. Consider the tradeoff instead of labeling a part “best” without explaining why.
- Keep mode progression separate. Review campaign and online loadouts independently; online has its own aircraft progression and aircraft-specific abilities.
This is a decision method derived from the publisher’s mission-specific customization guidance, not a publisher-endorsed ranking system.

How progression and restrictions affect your choices
In the campaign, additional aircraft unlock with MRP earned in missions. A launch-window review also describes spending MRP on jets, weapons, and upgrades, so an ideal setup may not be available early. Build around the aircraft and parts you have unlocked rather than delaying a sortie for a theoretical endgame configuration. Bandai Namco’s walkthrough describes the aircraft unlock progression.

Tom’s Guide’s launch-window review reports encountering mid-game carrier-only missions. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a complete list of restrictions, but it is a reason to retain access to carrier-capable aircraft as you progress. Check the requirements shown for each sortie rather than relying on a presumed unrestricted roster.
Online customization should not be treated as a direct extension of campaign advice. Bandai Namco Europe says aircraft levels improve parameters and unlock aircraft-specific abilities online. Those progression mechanics can affect the online setup independently of campaign parts; see the publisher’s online overview.

What a trustworthy aircraft-by-aircraft build should include
When evaluating a named build, look for enough context to reproduce and judge it. At minimum, a credible recommendation should state:
- Aircraft and the special weapon used.
- Game mode, mission or target mix, and difficulty when relevant.
- The aircraft’s available part slots and the exact parts equipped.
- What each part is intended to improve, including any tradeoff.
- Game version and date tested, so patch-sensitive advice can be checked.
A community post or early aircraft-tree guide can offer ideas, but without those details it cannot establish a universal best build. Recheck recommendations after patches and seasonal updates, and do not extrapolate a tested result from one aircraft or mission to every aircraft.

Does the same loadout work in campaign and online?
Not necessarily. Online has aircraft-level progression and aircraft-specific abilities, so campaign and online setups should be assessed separately.
