For a dedicated Palworld server, start with QualityOfLife for configurable world-wide conveniences, then add PalDefender, Better Server-Side Commands, and Stuck Pal Rescuer as needed. These four are the most practical server-side choices because players generally do not need to install files. Use client-dependent mods only when every player can run the same files; Xbox and PS5 players cannot install client mods.
The guides behind this shortlist focus on the Palworld 1.0/v1.0.x era. Treat compatibility with the current 2026 build as unverified until each mod page confirms it, and keep a tested backup before changing a live save.

Which Palworld server mods are worth installing?
The best quality-of-life setup depends on whether you need shared gameplay changes, administration, recovery from stuck Pals, or personal interface improvements. The table below separates those jobs and highlights the installation burden.
| Mod | Primary purpose | Server-side only? | What to know before deployment |
|---|---|---|---|
| QualityOfLife | Bundles server-wide settings such as base range, Pal work speed, storage, expedition times and fast travel | Yes, for the server-wide features described in the guides | Requires UE4SS and PalSchema. Defaults are generous and can make progression substantially easier. |
| PalDefender | Anti-cheat and server protection | Yes | Listed as the strongest anti-cheat choice in the retrieved guides. Review its current configuration documentation before enabling enforcement. |
| Better Server-Side Commands | Administration commands for a dedicated server | Yes | Listed as the leading server-administration mod and does not require player-side files. |
| Stuck Pal Rescuer | Finds a Pal that has not moved for a configured period and returns it to the Palbox | Yes | Useful for unattended bases; choose a timeout that does not mistake normal idle behavior for a stuck state. |
| Carry Weight Increase | Raises a player’s carrying capacity | No; server and client installations are required | Every participating PC player must use a compatible client installation. It is unsuitable for mixed PC/console crossplay. |
| MapUnlocker | Changes map visibility or unlocking | No; server and client installations are required | All participating clients need matching files, and console players cannot install them. |
| Map Collectables Fixed | Per-player map or collectible display behavior | Client option | Changes an individual player’s interface rather than the shared server state. |
| Accessory Toggler | Per-player accessory visibility or toggling | Client option | Does not alter settings for everyone else. |
| YetAnotherMinimap | Per-player minimap interface | Client option | Use only on clients that can install and maintain the mod. |
| Build Up | Building-related convenience features | Multiplayer status is uncertain | Guides describe it as mostly tested in single-player; dedicated-server behavior is not fully guaranteed. |
For a new community server, install the smallest useful set first: QualityOfLife, then administration or recovery tools. Add personal client mods only after confirming that your player roster and crossplay policy can support them.

Understand server-side versus client-side mods
Server-side mods
A server-side mod runs on the host and changes rules, administration, or shared simulation. Players connect with an otherwise unmodified game client. QualityOfLife’s shared settings, PalDefender, Better Server-Side Commands and Stuck Pal Rescuer fit this model according to the guides.
This design is the safest choice for a public server because it avoids asking every player to copy files. It also preserves access for console users, provided the mod itself does not secretly require a client component. Confirm that distinction on the mod’s current page before advertising compatibility.

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchClient-required mods
A client-required mod must be installed on both the dedicated server and every affected player’s game. Carry Weight Increase and MapUnlocker are specifically described this way. A single missing or mismatched client can produce connection failures, crashes, invisible objects or inconsistent behavior.
Client mods also create an operational obligation: you must distribute the exact version, explain where files go, and update every player when the game or mod changes. They are practical for a private PC-only group, but rarely appropriate for an open crossplay server.
Per-player interface mods
Map Collectables Fixed, Accessory Toggler and YetAnotherMinimap are examples of client options that affect only the person who installed them. They do not change the server’s world rules, so two players can see different map or interface information. That can be acceptable for a private group, but document the difference so players do not assume everyone has the same view.
Prerequisites: UE4SS, PalSchema and the host operating system
UE4SS
UE4SS is described as a prerequisite for most Palworld mods in the guides. Install the build that matches your Palworld edition and current game version, then verify that the loader starts cleanly before adding any gameplay mod. A failed loader installation should be fixed before troubleshooting an individual mod.

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
PalSchema
PalSchema is required by most non-cosmetic mods in the same guidance. QualityOfLife and other rule-changing packages should not be treated as standalone downloads. Install PalSchema alongside the compatible UE4SS build, and keep both components versioned in your server change log.
Windows versus Linux hosting
Windows is described as the safer hosting choice. UE4SS support on Linux can be finicky, so a Linux administrator should test the complete stack on a disposable copy of the save before moving it to production. If a server must remain on Linux, budget time for loader-specific troubleshooting and be prepared to run without a mod that has no confirmed Linux support.
Recommended server profiles
Profile 1: Vanilla-friendly public server
Use Better Server-Side Commands for routine administration and Stuck Pal Rescuer for recovery. Add PalDefender when you have reviewed its current rules and understand how it handles suspected cheating. Leave QualityOfLife at its default-disabled state until you decide which conveniences fit your community’s progression goals.
- Works best for unknown or mixed PC/console players.
- Avoids requiring a file package on every client.
- Keeps the survival and progression curve close to the base game.
Profile 2: Cooperative PC server
Use QualityOfLife as the foundation, with Better Server-Side Commands and Stuck Pal Rescuer. Review every QualityOfLife setting before the first public session: base range, Pal work speed, storage, expedition duration and fast-travel behavior can all shorten or remove intended friction. Add client mods only after the group agrees to maintain matching versions.
- Best for a small group that values convenience over a strict vanilla pace.
- Requires a written settings record so players know which rules changed.
- Allows optional interface mods on individual PCs.
Profile 3: PC-only modded server
After the server-side stack is stable, consider Carry Weight Increase or MapUnlocker. Treat these as coordinated deployments: test on a staging copy, package the exact client files, and require all players to confirm the same game and mod versions before connecting.
- Do not add a client-required mod to a server that advertises console access.
- Keep a rollback package containing the previous server and client versions.
- Expect extra support work whenever Palworld updates.
What each recommended mod does
QualityOfLife
QualityOfLife is the broadest convenience bundle in the shortlist. Its documented categories include base range, Pal work speed, storage, expedition times and fast travel. Because it changes several systems at once, it should be treated as a ruleset rather than a single toggle.
Rank #3
- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Its defaults are described as generous and capable of making the game considerably easier. Before launch, inspect each setting and decide whether it should remain at default, be reduced, or be disabled. Record the final values in your server rules so new players understand why their experience differs from an unmodified world.
PalDefender
PalDefender is listed as the best anti-cheat mod in the retrieved guides and works without client installs. That makes it suitable for a server with a broad player base. The available material does not establish current configuration details, detection thresholds or enforcement commands, so obtain those from the mod’s official documentation before relying on it as your only security control.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsUse it as one layer of administration: restrict account access, keep server logs, and define an appeal process. Do not promise a particular detection rate or automatic outcome that the current documentation does not state.
Better Server-Side Commands
Better Server-Side Commands is identified as the leading server administration mod. Its server-side design means administrators can manage a community without distributing client files. Plan which operators receive access, where command output is logged, and how you will revoke privileges when staff roles change.
Because exact commands and labels can change between releases, copy syntax from the version you install rather than relying on an old community post. Test administrative actions on a non-production world first, especially anything that can move, remove or alter player-owned objects.
Stuck Pal Rescuer
Stuck Pal Rescuer watches for a Pal that has not moved for a configured period and teleports it back to the Palbox. This can recover a worker trapped in terrain or a base object without requiring an administrator to intervene manually.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Choose the inactivity period carefully. A very short timeout may treat a legitimately idle Pal as broken; a long timeout delays recovery. Test the chosen value at an active base and monitor the first few automatic rescues so you can adjust it without surprising players.
Installation workflow for a dedicated server
The following process minimizes the chance of corrupting a live world. Exact folder names and loader menus can differ by Palworld edition and mod release, so follow the installed package’s current readme for the final path.
- Record the baseline. Note the Palworld build, host operating system, dedicated-server launch method, save location and current configuration. Export or copy the complete save before changing anything.
- Stop the server cleanly. Do not replace loader or mod files while the process is still writing the world. Confirm that the process has exited and that the latest save timestamp is complete.
- Install UE4SS. Use a release compatible with the current Palworld build and your host operating system. Start the server once with no gameplay mods and inspect the log for loader errors.
- Install PalSchema. Add the compatible dependency required by most non-cosmetic mods. Restart and verify that the dependency loads before adding QualityOfLife or administration packages.
- Add one mod at a time. Begin with Better Server-Side Commands or Stuck Pal Rescuer, restart, and test. Then add QualityOfLife and review its settings. Isolating changes makes a crash or unexpected rule easier to attribute.
- Configure and document. Save the final settings, operator list and mod versions in a change log. For QualityOfLife, explicitly record base range, work speed, storage, expedition and fast-travel values.
- Run a controlled test. Join with an administrator account, create or inspect a test base, exercise the relevant commands, and observe Pal behavior. Confirm that ordinary players can connect without installing files when the package is advertised as server-side.
- Invite players only after validation. Give the group the server version, mod policy and rollback plan. If a client-required mod is present, distribute the exact client package and verify every player’s version before opening the server.
Crossplay rules for Xbox and PS5 players
Xbox and PS5 players cannot install client files. A crossplay server that includes either platform should therefore use vanilla features or a mod that has been verified as server-side only. Carry Weight Increase and MapUnlocker are not compatible with that requirement because the guides say both server and client installations are needed.
Recommended Free Tools
QualityOfLife, PalDefender, Better Server-Side Commands and Stuck Pal Rescuer are the logical starting candidates for crossplay, but confirm the current release notes before deployment. A mod advertised as server-side can still gain a client component in a later version.
Per-player interface mods are a separate issue. A PC player may be able to use Map Collectables Fixed, Accessory Toggler or YetAnotherMinimap, while console players remain unmodified. That changes only the individual interface, not the shared world, but it should be disclosed in your server rules.

Match every layer
Keep the Palworld server, UE4SS, PalSchema and each mod on compatible versions. The guides warn that client/server mismatches can cause crashes or invisible objects. When an update arrives, do not assume an old mod remains safe simply because the server starts.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Use a staged update
- Copy the save and current configuration to a separate backup location.
- Duplicate the server installation or create a test instance.
- Update Palworld and dependencies in the test instance first.
- Add or update one mod, then start the test world and inspect logs.
- Join with a test account and check bases, Pals, storage, travel and administration functions.
- Only after the test passes, schedule the production update and announce downtime.
Rollback safely
If players see crashes, missing objects or broken Pal behavior, stop the server and restore the last known-good save and mod set. Do not repeatedly start a damaged world while experimenting; each launch can write additional state. Keep the previous package until the updated combination has survived a real play session.

Common failure modes and fixes
The server crashes during startup
- Confirm that UE4SS supports the current Palworld build and host OS.
- Verify that PalSchema is installed when a non-cosmetic mod requires it.
- Remove the most recently added mod and test the baseline.
- Check for duplicate or leftover files from an older release.
Players see invisible objects or disconnect
- Compare the game and mod versions on the server and every client.
- Remove client-required mods from a mixed or console crossplay roster.
- Have affected players perform a clean reinstall of the exact approved client package.
A Pal is repeatedly returned to the Palbox
- Increase Stuck Pal Rescuer’s inactivity threshold.
- Check whether the base layout or pathing is causing the immobility.
- Temporarily disable the rescuer while diagnosing the base so it does not mask the underlying problem.
Quality-of-life changes feel too easy
QualityOfLife’s generous defaults are intentional convenience settings, not a balanced competitive ruleset. Lower or disable individual categories, then publish the revised values. Change one category at a time so players can identify which adjustment altered progression.
Linux behaves differently from Windows
Because UE4SS support on Linux is described as finicky, reproduce the issue on a clean test instance and compare loader logs. If the dependency stack remains unreliable, run the server without the affected mod or move the host to the safer Windows environment described by the guides.
Operational checklist
- Confirm the current Palworld build against every mod’s compatibility statement.
- Back up the save before installation and before each update.
- Install and validate UE4SS before gameplay mods.
- Add PalSchema when the selected mod requires it.
- Prefer server-side packages for public or crossplay communities.
- Review QualityOfLife defaults and publish the final settings.
- Limit command permissions and retain administrative logs.
- Set a tested inactivity threshold for Stuck Pal Rescuer.
- Keep client and server versions synchronized when client files are required.
- Maintain a rollback copy until the updated server has been proven stable.
Frequently asked questions
Do players need to install Palworld mods?
Not for a verified server-side mod. QualityOfLife’s shared settings, PalDefender, Better Server-Side Commands and Stuck Pal Rescuer are presented as server-side choices. Carry Weight Increase and MapUnlocker require both server and client installation, while the map and interface examples affect only clients that install them.
Can I use these mods with Xbox or PS5 players?
Use only vanilla or confirmed server-side mods. Console players cannot install client files, which rules out Carry Weight Increase and MapUnlocker for a mixed crossplay server.
Is QualityOfLife balanced for a new world?
Its defaults are described as generous and can make the game considerably easier. Review each setting before launch instead of accepting the defaults as a neutral balance.
What should I install first?
Install the compatible UE4SS and PalSchema foundation, test the server, then add one server-side mod at a time. A practical order is Better Server-Side Commands, Stuck Pal Rescuer and finally QualityOfLife after its settings have been reviewed.
Is Build Up safe on a dedicated server?
The guides describe Build Up as mostly tested in single-player and do not fully guarantee multiplayer or dedicated-server behavior. Test it on a disposable copy before considering it for a live world.
