Use a progression-order sweep with deliberate backtracking: clear every Brave Heart Fragment you can reach in Paris Streets, then Holy Innocents’ Cemetery, Catacombs of Paris, Main Hall, Library, Notre-Dame, Clock Tower and finally Hall of Mirrors. Return to earlier areas as soon as Arcane Whip, double jump, wall jump, air-dash, wall-breaking and teleporter mirrors open their previously inaccessible shrines. This route collects all 24 Brave fragments in one playthrough without pretending there is a mathematically shortest path.
Four fragments create one permanent Brave Heart and add 20 maximum health. The complete set therefore gives six upgrades, or 120 additional health; the guide’s stated maximum-health total is 220. Each of the eight fragment-bearing areas contains three Brave fragments. Master’s Quarters contains none.
How Brave Heart Fragments affect your health
Every fourth Brave Heart Fragment completes a Brave Heart immediately. The health increase is permanent and does not depend on equipment, difficulty or a temporary buff. With 24 fragments available, the milestones are:

The fourth pickup in each group displays the Brave Heart Completed! banner and raises maximum health at once. The first completion in the recommended sequence occurs at the Ancient Sewers pickup in Holy Innocents’ Cemetery, although the exact banner timing depends on which reachable pickups you take before it.
One-playthrough route at a glance
Follow the areas in this order. Within each area, take the three listed Brave locations whenever their hazards and movement requirements are currently available. If a shrine is visible but blocked, mark it on the map and continue; do not spend a long detour trying to force an ability you have not unlocked.

Master’s Quarters is intentionally absent: it has no Brave Heart Fragments.
1. Paris Streets
Prison Tower
Start with Prison Tower when the route is open. The approach is a spike-lined sequence, so use short, controlled jumps rather than rushing across the hazard. If the final gap or anchor cannot be reached, leave the shrine marked and return after movement upgrades.
Court of Justice
Court of Justice is the first clear example of an ability-gated pickup. Wall-jumping is needed to gain the required height, and breakable walls hide or open the continuation. Do not treat an intact cracked wall as a dead end; revisit it once the wall-breaking ability is available.
Undercity
Finish the Paris Streets sweep at Undercity if its path is accessible. Check the map counter before leaving Paris so an apparently completed district is not mistaken for a three-fragment clear when one shrine was skipped.
2. Holy Innocents’ Cemetery
Serpents’ Lair
Take the Serpents’ Lair shrine during the cemetery visit. Clear ordinary traversal hazards first and avoid committing to a return trip until the map confirms the fragment pickup.
Ancient Sewers
Ancient Sewers is the early completion point for the first Brave Heart in the guide’s progression sequence. Collecting it supplies the fourth fragment when the preceding reachable pickups have been taken, so expect the completion banner and immediate health increase here.

The Mausoleum route uses spike shafts and breakable blocks. If you can see the room but cannot safely cross the shaft, record its location and come back after the relevant jump or wall-breaking ability. Breaking blocks is also important for confirming that an apparently empty side chamber is actually cleared.
3. Catacombs of Paris
Blood Pits
Blood Pits is an air-dash route over hazards. A normal jump cannot substitute for the dash: if the gap remains out of reach, continue through the Catacombs and return when air-dash is unlocked.

Catacomb Entrance
The Catacomb Entrance pickup lies beyond spinning saws. Watch the saw cycle, move through the safe interval and verify the fragment counter before exiting. Taking damage is not evidence that the room is inaccessible, but repeatedly crossing during the wrong cycle wastes healing and time.
Circle of Greed
Reach Circle of Greed through the Gate of Flesh. Include the gate in your route planning rather than assuming the room is a separate branch from the Catacombs. If the gate is closed, mark the entrance and return when the progression objective opens it.
4. Main Hall
Armoury
Armoury is the straightforward Main Hall target. Sweep nearby rooms before using a teleporter mirror so you do not leave a reachable shrine behind while solving the larger puzzle network.
Mirror Rooms
Mirror Rooms combine mirror puzzles with saws and fire jets. Teleporter mirrors are the key backtracking trigger for this section. Once those mirrors are active, trace every connected room rather than stopping at the first solved reflection; the fragment room may be reached from a different mirror than the one used to enter.
Balcony
Collect Balcony during the same Main Hall pass. A guide-described Servants’ Quarters challenge can also complete a Brave and Wise set when it appears in your route; treat it as an additional paired objective to collect during the Main Hall sweep, not as a fourth Brave location replacing Armoury, Mirror Rooms or Balcony.
5. Library
Poetry Shelves
Poetry Shelves is a spike gauntlet. Read the spacing before committing to each jump and use the safest ledge as a reset point. If your current movement set cannot clear the gauntlet consistently, return after the next jump upgrade instead of risking a death for a single fragment.

Planetarium
The Planetarium pickup uses the rotating orrery machinery. Wait for the moving platforms to align, then ride the cycle rather than trying to outrun it. The machinery can make the room look cleared while leaving a higher shelf unexplored, so check the upper map outline afterward.

Library Foyer
Reach Library Foyer by grappling upward. This is a practical checkpoint for Arcane Whip: if the grapple anchor is visible but the vertical route is not usable, the fragment is a backtracking target, not a missed entrance.
6. Notre-Dame
Tree of Saints
Tree of Saints uses rising platforms. Let each platform complete its movement before transferring, especially when the next ledge is above a long fall. Mark the shrine if the current jump height leaves the upper platform out of reach.
The Forest
The Forest route leads to a secluded church chamber. Follow the branch all the way to the chamber instead of turning back at the forest’s apparent dead end; the fragment is placed beyond that secluded room.

La Flèche
La Flèche requires grappling the spire rafters. Arcane Whip makes this a later cleanup target if the rafters are visible during the first Notre-Dame visit. Grapple from stable floors and confirm the pickup before dropping back to the main route.
7. Clock Tower
Eastern Steps
Eastern Steps descends through cogs and spikes. The safest sequence is to watch the cog rotation, drop only when the next landing is clear and use the map to avoid repeating a completed shaft.
The Gauntlet
The Gauntlet is behind a timed clock gate. Enter only when the gate cycle gives enough time to cross; if you arrive as it closes, wait for the next cycle rather than taking a damaging shortcut. The gate is a timing challenge, not a signal that the fragment is in another region.
Serpent Pinion
Serpent Pinion sits in a cog alcove. Inspect the upper and side edges of each cog chamber before leaving, because the alcove can be easy to pass while following the main descent.

8. Hall of Mirrors
Steps of Misdirection
Steps of Misdirection contains a saw-blade shaft. Use the shaft’s safe pockets as staging points and descend in controlled sections. If a lower pocket is inaccessible, return with the movement ability that extends your reach rather than attempting a blind drop.
Looping Hallways
The Looping Hallways fragment is in a lower room behind curtains. A hallway that appears to loop is not necessarily empty: inspect curtain-covered exits and descend to the lower room before declaring the branch complete.
Nightmare Atrium
Nightmare Atrium uses fireball traps and is the final Brave location in the recommended regional sweep. Time your crossings between volleys, collect the fragment and check that the counter reaches 24. This last pickup should produce the sixth Brave Heart completion if every earlier shrine was collected.
How to handle ability-gated backtracking
The efficient method is not to revisit every room after every new skill. Return when the map shows a shrine that directly matches one of these gates:

- Arcane Whip: grapple anchors, vertical routes and the Library Foyer or La Flèche approaches.
- Double jump and wall jump: raised ledges, shafts and the Court of Justice climb.
- Air-dash: long gaps, bloodfalls and the Blood Pits crossing.
- Wall and block breaking: cracked walls, hidden alcoves and blocked continuations in Paris Streets and the cemetery.
- Teleporter mirrors: Main Hall mirror-room connections and their puzzle branches.
Use this five-step loop whenever you unlock an ability:
- Open the map and identify every previously seen shrine whose obstacle matches the new ability.
- Return to the nearest region in the route order instead of wandering through unrelated rooms.
- Collect both Brave and Wise fragments in the same area while the route is open.
- Mark the shrine as collected immediately and check the regional count before teleporting away.
- Continue the main progression, repeating the loop after the next movement upgrade.
Because every fragment-bearing area has three Brave and three Wise fragments, a regional sweep is the most efficient way to pursue both health upgrades and the Collector achievement.

The Wise set follows the same regional structure: three Wise fragments in each of the eight fragment-bearing areas, for 24 total. Whenever you reopen a region for a Brave shrine, clear its Wise shrines in that same visit. This avoids a separate full-map cleanup and prevents the common mistake of finishing all Brave fragments while still missing Wise pickups needed for Collector.

The Collector achievement requires all 24 Brave Heart Fragments and all 24 Wise Heart Fragments. Six completed Brave Hearts alone do not satisfy it.
Verification checklist before leaving an area
- Compare the area’s collected count with the three Brave locations listed for that region.
- Check every visible shrine that was previously blocked by a movement ability.
- Search cracked walls, breakable blocks, curtain-covered lower rooms and side alcoves.
- Collect nearby Wise fragments before teleporting to the next region.
- After a fourth Brave pickup, confirm the Brave Heart Completed! banner and the increased maximum-health bar.
At the end of the route, the total should be 24 Brave fragments, six completed Brave Hearts and a 220 maximum-health total according to the guide’s stated health calculation. If the banner has not appeared six times, use the map to locate the one or more uncollected shrines rather than assuming Master’s Quarters contains a missing fragment.
Which route style should you choose?

The second style is the recommended one-playthrough plan. It is a practical progression order, not a published proof of the globally shortest traversal. The guides establish the counts, room names and ability gates, but do not provide a mathematically optimized path.
Common problems and fixes
I have 23 Brave fragments and no sixth health upgrade
One shrine remains uncollected. Recheck each region’s three-location list, beginning with Hall of Mirrors and then the ability-gated branches in earlier areas. Master’s Quarters cannot be the missing location because it has no Brave fragments.
A shrine is visible, but I cannot reach it
Identify the obstacle rather than guessing. Grapple anchors point to Arcane Whip; raised ledges and shafts point to double jump or wall jump; long gaps point to air-dash; cracked surfaces point to wall or block breaking; mirror-room separations point to teleporter mirrors. Mark the room and return after that ability unlocks.
I completed every Brave Heart but Collector did not unlock
Collector also checks the 24 Wise Heart Fragments. Revisit each region and collect the Wise counterpart during the same sweep. A full Brave set is necessary but not sufficient.
The health total does not match the guide
Confirm that all six Brave Heart completion banners appeared. Each banner represents four fragments and a permanent 20-health increase. The stated 220 total assumes the guide’s starting-health calculation; the reliable in-game checks are the six completions and the +120 increase from fragments.

The room list and route align with Belmont’s Curse Atlas, an unofficial fan project edited October 17, 2026, and AllThingsHow guidance updated October 18, 2026. Treat the atlas as a community guide rather than an official Konami publication. The route recommendations above use those documented room names, counts and ability gates while distinguishing a practical one-playthrough order from an unproven shortest path.
