For a preschooler who wants to guide familiar pups through rescue missions, start with PAW Patrol: On a Roll!. It has a structured puzzle-platforming format, while PAW Patrol: Grand Prix is the better match for a child who would rather race. For other play styles, consider Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay for missions and local co-op, or PAW Patrol World for free roaming—with its in-game-purchases notice in mind.
Age ratings describe content, not whether a particular child will find the controls manageable. Think about whether your child enjoys guided levels or open exploration, and how they handle timing, reading, movement, and camera navigation. You may need to help them get started.
Which PAW Patrol Switch game should you choose?
| Game | What play is like | Useful features | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| PAW Patrol: On a Roll! | Guided puzzle-platforming and rescue missions | Nintendo lists 16 missions across eight locations, unique pup abilities, and two pups per mission. Single-system play is for one player. ESRB rates it Everyone, with no content descriptors or interactive elements listed; Nintendo UK lists PEGI 3. | A child who wants familiar pups and a clear, level-by-level rescue activity. |
| PAW Patrol: Grand Prix | Kart racing | Nintendo lists 11 tracks, up to four players on one system, and an easy-control option with auto-acceleration. ESRB rates it Everyone, with no content descriptors or interactive elements listed. | A child who likes vehicles and racing, especially when family members want to play together. |
| PAW Patrol: Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay | Adventure-platforming, missions, mini-games, and exploration | Nintendo lists seven missions and seven mini-games, with two-player same-screen co-op. Nintendo UK lists PEGI 3; ESRB rates it Everyone, with no content descriptors or interactive elements listed. | A child who likes missions and pup powers and wants to play alongside someone. Expect more 3D movement than in On a Roll! |
| PAW Patrol World | Free-roaming 3D adventure with missions and puzzles | Nintendo describes one- or two-player play. ESRB rates it Everyone and flags in-game purchases. | A child who enjoys exploring and inventing their own route through a game world. Check the purchase notice before play. |
| PAW Patrol: The Movie Adventure City Calls | 3D platform adventure with rescue and bonus missions and mini-games | Nintendo describes solo play or two-player couch co-op. ESRB rates it Everyone. | A fan of the movie who wants a co-op option. The official sources cited here do not establish that it is easier than Mighty Pups. |
The player counts and features above are product details, not evidence that every preschooler will find a game easy. Choose by the kind of play your child already enjoys, then be ready to help with controls or navigation.

On a Roll! gives each level a defined rescue task rather than an open world to roam. Nintendo describes 16 missions across eight Adventure Bay locations, and its listing says each mission uses two pups with unique abilities. That makes it the most direct fit here for a child who wants recognizable characters and a structured activity.
#1 Best Overall
- BE STRONG, BRAVE AND ROAR: Have Rex and Timmy by your side as you play with the PAW Patrol.
- RESCUE DINOS: Help lost dinosaurs get back to their families and care for them.
- FOSSIL-FILLED ACTION: Activate your pup’s unique skills anytime to overcome obstacles and stop Humdinger’s chaos.
- STOMP AROUND IN STYLE: Uncover accessories, skins and decorations to upgrade your looks.
- EXPLORE THE WILDS: Discover the Dino Plains, shores with secret pools, jungle filled with tropical fruit, and crystal caves in the volcano.
Nintendo UK lists a game-card edition and PEGI 3 rating. ESRB rates the Switch game Everyone, with no content descriptors or interactive elements listed. Those classifications concern content; they do not measure whether a child can handle platforming, timing, or other controls.
Best for racing and family play: Grand Prix
Grand Prix shifts the focus from rescues to kart racing. Nintendo lists 11 tracks and up to four players on one system. Its easy-control option uses auto-acceleration to guide younger players around the track, an expressly described control aid that the other listed games do not share in the cited product details.
Rank #2
- Ryder and all eight PAW Patrol pups, including Everest & Tracker
- 16 daring adventures set in eight Adventure Bay locations
- Special pup abilities that need to be used for each rescue
ESRB rates Grand Prix Everyone, with no content descriptors or interactive elements listed. The easy-control option may help with driving, but it does not guarantee that every preschooler will be comfortable with the game.
Best for co-op missions: Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay
Mighty Pups combines adventure-platforming with missions, mini-games, and exploration. Nintendo lists seven missions and seven mini-games, and says two people can play co-op on the same screen. It is a natural option when the child wants powers and rescue tasks but would benefit from a family member playing alongside them.
Rank #3
- RACE WITH NEW FACES: Play with the Rescue Wheels crew, including Roxi, Boomer and Mayor Humdinger.
- MONSTER TRUCK MAYHEM: Bulldozer, Hovercraft, Jet. Which one will you choose to help you win the championship?
- STUNT TO THE FINISH LINE: Perform tricks mid-air to get a boost and unlock your Pup’s signature stunt.
- PUP POWER-UPS: Get ahead of the competition by collecting Pup Treats and objects.
- DRIFT INTO THE ACTION TOGETHER: Speed through arenas across Adventure Bay, the Jungle, Foggy Bottom, and beyond in multiplayer
Nintendo UK lists PEGI 3, while ESRB rates the game Everyone with no content descriptors or interactive elements listed. Compared with the guided format of On a Roll!, its 3D movement may ask more of a child navigating the game world.
Best for free exploration: PAW Patrol World
PAW Patrol World is the open-ended choice: Nintendo describes a free-roaming 3D adventure with missions and puzzles, playable by one or two people. That format can suit a child who likes to wander and explore rather than move through tightly guided levels.
Rank #4
- RACE WITH NEW FACES: Play with the Rescue Wheels crew, including Roxi, Boomer and Mayor Humdinger.
- MONSTER TRUCK MAYHEM: Bulldozer, Hovercraft, Jet. Which one will you choose to help you win the championship?
- PUP POWER-UPS: Get ahead of the competition by collecting Pup Treats and objects.
- DRIFT INTO THE ACTION TOGETHER: Speed through arenas across Adventure Bay, the Jungle, Foggy bottom, and beyond in multiplayer.
ESRB rates it Everyone and flags in-game purchases. That notice is a practical reason for an adult to review the game’s purchase settings and supervise access before handing over play.
Where Adventure City Calls fits
Adventure City Calls is another movie-based option, with 3D platforming, rescue and bonus missions, mini-games, and solo or two-player couch co-op, according to Nintendo. ESRB rates it Everyone. It may suit a child drawn to the movie’s locations, but the official product details cited here do not show that its controls are easier than Mighty Pups.
Best Value

- SNIFF OUT COLLECTIBLES – Use your pup treats to unlock new pup outfits, postcard stamps, emotes, vehicle stickers and more
- PLAY, RESCUE, EXPLORE – Experience a new PAW Patrol story, TV show flashback, plus bonus missions you’ll find as you explore
- ALL PAWS ON DECK – One or two players can control every PAW Patrol pup including Chase, Skye, Marshall and Everest, each with unique skills
What age ratings can—and cannot—tell you
Nintendo UK lists PEGI 3 for On a Roll! and Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay. ESRB lists On a Roll!, Mighty Pups, Grand Prix, PAW Patrol World, and Adventure City Calls as Everyone; for World, ESRB also notes in-game purchases. PEGI and ESRB are different regional rating systems, so their labels should not be treated as interchangeable.
Neither rating system establishes that a game is developmentally easy for all preschoolers. A child’s comfort with movement, timing, reading, and camera navigation is a more useful guide to whether they will need adult help.
