Best new LEGO set for PlayStation fans: 72306
The LEGO PlayStation is the most straightforward choice if the original Sony console is the reason you are shopping. The 1,911-piece, age-18+ build recreates the original console and first controller at nearly 1:1 scale. Its Open and Power buttons work, and concealed builds reference Gran Turismo and Ape Escape. The official product listing gives dimensions exceeding 6 cm high, 26 cm wide and 19 cm deep, so plan for a broad, low display space.

LEGO announced Insiders early access for October 1, 2026, followed by general availability October 4. Its suggested prices are £139.99 in the UK, €159.99 in euro markets and $179.99 in the US, according to the LEGO Group announcement. Best retro Pokémon display: Iconic Trainer Moments Poké Ball 72154
If “retro Pokémon kit” means a large, centerpiece-style display, the Poké Ball is the better fit of these October releases. LEGO and The Pokémon Company International announced it for October 1, 2026, at £229.99, €259.99 and $299.99 in their joint announcement. It is presented as an adult display set, rather than a small character model.
There is an important specification discrepancy: that announcement lists 2,339 pieces, while the official UK product page lists 2,386. Neither figure should be treated as settled on the available official materials. Confirm the current listing for your region if piece count matters to your purchase.

A smaller Pokémon alternative: Up-Scaled Red 40868
The Up-Scaled Red Minifigure is the more accessible-format alternative if you would rather display a character than build around a Poké Ball. The LEGO announcement lists 930 pieces, age 10+, and an October 1, 2026 release. Its stated prices are £69.99, €79.99 and $79.99. It is a different kind of display from the adult Poké Ball set, so the lower stated price does not make it a like-for-like substitute.
Which October LEGO set should you choose?
- Choose PlayStation 72306 if your priority is the original console, a near life-size replica, and game references tucked into the build.
- Choose Poké Ball 72154 if you want the more substantial Pokémon display and are comfortable checking local details, including the disputed piece count.
