There is no single best LLM for every landing-page task in 2026. In Contra Labs Research’s July 2026 test (published August 14), Claude Opus 5 led overall preference and visual aesthetics, Claude Fable 5 led usability and prompt adherence, and Codex (CLI) GPT-5.6 Sol led ideation. Treat those results as a guide for the tested prompts and versions—not a guarantee for your brief.

The practical answer is to choose by stage: use GPT-5.6 Sol to explore concepts, Opus 5 to establish visual direction, and Fable 5 to refine a usable, faithful page. Then verify the rendered frontend yourself on desktop and mobile.

What the 2026 landing-page study actually measured

Contra Labs Research tested six models on three fictional product launches. Each model completed ideation, mockup and refinement stages. Six working designers, with model names hidden, compared the outputs for general preference, usability, prompt adherence and visual aesthetics.

  • 3 products, 9 prompts and 3 stages.
  • 3,240 pairwise decisions and 324 written responses.
  • Claude Opus 5 won 59.4% of its comparisons.
  • Claude Fable 5 won 57.1% of its comparisons.

Opus 5 led general preference and aesthetics; Fable 5 led usability and prompt adherence. GPT-5.6 Sol led ideation, Opus 5 led mockup, and Fable 5 led refinement. The candidate set did not include Gemini 3.7 Flash, which Google announced on August 13, 2026. The study was published August 14, so model versions and rankings can change quickly.

Best model by landing-page job

Job Best first choice from the study What to evaluate
Ideation and information architecture Codex (CLI) GPT-5.6 Sol Audience understanding, offer, conversion goal and section order
Visual concept and mockup Claude Opus 5 Hierarchy, distinctiveness, aesthetics and reference adherence
Copy and interaction refinement Claude Fable 5 Following revision instructions without harming usability
Frontend implementation Run a controlled bake-off Rendered desktop/mobile behavior, accessibility, interactions and code quality

This is a stage-specific recommendation, not a universal leaderboard. The study did not establish conversion-rate uplift, return on investment or a common cost comparison.

How to choose an LLM for your own brief

1. Define the conversion before prompting

Write one primary action (for example, “start a free trial”) and identify the audience, traffic source, offer, proof and objections. A model cannot fix a landing page whose business goal is ambiguous.

2. Supply the same inputs to each model

Use an identical brief, brand tokens, product facts, legal constraints, reference images and technical stack. Changing the inputs makes a visual comparison meaningless.

3. Test the three stages separately

  1. Ideation: ask for three positioning routes, a section outline and a rationale tied to the audience.
  2. Mockup: provide the selected route and references; request desktop and mobile compositions with type scale, spacing and component states.
  3. Refinement: give a numbered change list and require the model to preserve untouched sections and interactions.

4. Score the rendered result

Reuse the study’s axes—preference, usability, prompt adherence and aesthetics—but add implementation checks: keyboard navigation, contrast, loading behavior, responsive breakpoints, form validation, analytics events and real browser performance. A beautiful screenshot is not evidence that the page works.

Where Gemini 3.7 Flash and GPT-5.6 fit

Google describes Gemini 3.7 Flash as a model for coding and agents, including web-development and reference-based UI generation. Google reports a WebDev Arena Elo of 1,588 for Gemini 3.7 Flash versus 1,538 for Gemini 3.6 Flash. That is a Google-reported WebDev Arena comparison, not a landing-page-only trial.

OpenAI describes GPT-5.6 as able to create, inspect and refine interfaces. OpenAI also publishes a customer statement from Triple Whale CEO AJ Orbach: “GPT‑5.6 was the best overall frontend model in our seven-task benchmark. On our five-point frontend QA rubric, it scored 4.4, compared with 4.0 for GPT‑5.5 and 3.5 for Claude 4.8, and consistently turned complex ecommerce, dashboard, and product briefs into complete, responsive interfaces across desktop and mobile.” This is a customer statement in OpenAI’s material, not an independent cross-vendor landing-page benchmark.

Use these provider claims to decide what to test, not to replace a same-brief evaluation. Gemini 3.7 Flash was announced after the Contra test, so it cannot be ranked fairly against that study’s six candidates.

A repeatable prompt and review workflow

Brief template

Give every model a structured brief:

  • Product, audience, traffic source and one conversion goal.
  • Primary promise, differentiators, objections and proof available.
  • Required sections, prohibited claims, reading level and brand voice.
  • Viewport targets, framework, asset constraints and accessibility requirements.
  • Reference URLs or images, with a note explaining what may and may not be copied.

Prompt for ideation

“You are the conversion strategist for . Using the brief below, produce three distinct positioning routes. For each, state the audience insight, headline, supporting proof, section order, primary CTA and the risk of the route. Do not invent customer numbers or capabilities.”

Prompt for mockup

“Turn route [X] into a responsive landing-page specification. Define the above-the-fold hierarchy, type scale, color roles, grid, spacing, component states, image direction and mobile behavior. Mark assumptions and keep every claim grounded in the brief.”

Prompt for refinement

“Apply these numbered changes: [list]. Change only what is requested, preserve all other copy and interactions, then report which files and selectors changed. Check keyboard focus, contrast, 320–1440px widths and form error states.”

When a landing-page platform is a better choice

A general LLM helps with concepts, copy, visual direction and code. If you also need visual editing, publishing routes, hosting, behavioral analytics, experiments and ongoing optimization, compare a dedicated platform. Landingi describes its Lunar tool as generating editable pages and its broader service as providing visual editing, publishing, EventTracker analytics, A/B/X testing and AI-assisted optimization. Those are product descriptions; evaluate the workflow against your team’s requirements and verify current availability.

Capture and review the page before launch

Review the actual rendered page, not only generated code. In a do-it-yourself workflow, run the site in a real browser at representative widths, wait for fonts and lazy images, dismiss consent UI, test the form and save desktop/mobile screenshots. Check that cookie banners, newsletter popups and chat widgets are not hiding the CTA. Repeat after every significant model revision.

Or skip the browser setup

ScreenshotNeo is the alternative to try first when you need automated captures: it removes cookie/consent banners, newsletter popups and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, with the outcome exposed in X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers; and its MCP server lets Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients call take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf.

One GET request returns PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. The API supports full-page lazy-image loading, CSS-selector element capture, dark mode, 12 device presets plus custom viewports, retina scale, PDF paper settings and page ranges, custom CSS/JavaScript, click-before-capture, selector hiding, waits, request blocking, headers, cookies, user agents, authorization, timezone, geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, selectable-TTL caching, signed image links, asynchronous webhooks, bulk capture for up to 100 URLs per call, usage reporting and an OpenAPI specification. Parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work, easing migration.

cURL:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Python:

import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)

Node.js:

const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);

Troubleshooting model-generated landing pages

The page looks attractive but does not convert

Return to the single conversion goal. Ask the model to map every section to an objection or proof point, then remove decorative sections that do not support that path. Validate the offer and claims with a human owner.

Mobile layout breaks

Inspect the rendered page at 320, 375, 768 and 1440 pixels. Replace fixed widths with fluid containers, define image aspect ratios and test long headlines, error messages and translated text.

The model ignores a revision

Use a numbered change list, quote the exact selector or component, require a before/after checklist and ask for a diff. Re-run the prompt with the original brief attached rather than adding contradictory instructions.

Generated code invents facts or dependencies

Require citations to supplied product facts, prohibit invented metrics and ask for a dependency manifest. Review network calls, licenses, form endpoints and analytics before deployment.

Screenshot capture shows a blank or blocked page

Check the page verdict, wait for a known selector or network idle, increase the timeout, and test whether authentication, geolocation or bot protection is required. A failed load should be fixed in the page or capture settings—not mistaken for a design result.

Cost, freshness and decision notes

The cited evidence does not provide a same-task price comparison for the models, and it does not measure conversion rates. Recheck model names, limits and pricing on the provider’s current pages before committing to a production workflow. Keep a dated evaluation set because releases can change the ranking without changing your prompts.

For most teams, the efficient sequence is: GPT-5.6 Sol for several concepts, Opus 5 for the chosen visual direction, Fable 5 for controlled refinement, then a browser-based QA pass and real-user analytics after launch. If publishing, experimentation and optimization are core requirements, include a landing-page platform in the evaluation instead of comparing model chat alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which LLM should I use first for a new landing page?

Start with GPT-5.6 Sol for multiple concepts, then move the selected direction to a visual-design model and a separate refinement pass.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does the 2026 study prove Claude Opus 5 will produce the highest conversions?

No. It measured designer preferences, usability, prompt adherence and aesthetics, not conversion rates.

Can one model handle the entire workflow?

Yes, but a staged comparison usually exposes weaknesses that a single-model result hides; evaluate the rendered page and interactions before launch.

When should I choose a landing-page platform instead of an LLM?

Choose the platform when editing, publishing, hosting, analytics, experimentation and optimization must be part of the same workflow.
