For a traditional-looking hybrid smartwatch with broad health features, choose the Withings ScanWatch 2. The Garmin vívomove Trend is a better fit if you want Garmin Pay, a touch display for basic menus, and Garmin ecosystem features. For a rugged outdoor-oriented watch, consider the Garmin Instinct Crossover instead. These recommendations reflect product information available on October 5, 2026; check regional availability and current prices before buying.
What a hybrid smartwatch does—and what it gives up
A hybrid smartwatch pairs a conventional analog-style watch face with selected digital features rather than putting a full-color smartwatch screen at the center of the experience. Depending on the model, those features can include health and activity tracking, notifications, and limited on-watch menus. The trade-off is less information and interaction on your wrist in exchange for a more traditional appearance and a less screen-led experience. Wareable’s hybrid smartwatch guide describes this analog-first approach.
There is no single best choice for every buyer: decide whether health sensors, Garmin services, outdoor use, display interaction, or battery claims matter most to you.
Best overall for health features: Withings ScanWatch 2
The ScanWatch 2 is the strongest choice in this shortlist if you want an analog appearance alongside a broad set of health features. Withings lists ECG, continuous heart-rate tracking, sleep data, blood oxygen, and temperature features. It has a stainless-steel case, sapphire crystal, and 5 ATM (50 m) water resistance. The US product information lists 38 mm and 42 mm configurations.

- FASTER AND MORE ACCURATE GPS TRACKING: 5 satellite positioning systems ensure fast GPS connection and accurate positioning whenever you're out running, walking, cycling or hiking.
Battery, display, and charging
Withings advertises up to 35 days of battery life and a two-hour fast charge. The 35-day figure is the manufacturer’s maximum claim, not a comparative independent test. Its small display shows less information at a glance than a full smartwatch screen; Tom’s Guide considers that a potential advantage for people who prefer a less distracting watch, though the limited display will not suit everyone.
ScanWatch 2 versus ScanWatch Light
Withings’ US comparison page differentiates the ScanWatch 2 from the ScanWatch Light: the Light listing omits ECG, blood oxygen, and temperature tracking, among other features. Feature eligibility and availability can vary by market, so check the version sold where you live. The same page lists US prices of $369.95 for ScanWatch 2 configurations when accessed in 2026; prices can change. If buying a replacement band, verify the case size and compatible band dimensions before ordering.

Phone-dependent safety features
Garmin lists incident detection and live-location sharing when the watch is paired with a phone, subject to Garmin’s stated conditions. The vívomove Trend should not be treated as having standalone cellular connectivity or GPS: these listed safety functions depend on the connected phone. Check Garmin’s product details for the conditions that apply in your region.

The Instinct Crossover belongs in a different lane from the ScanWatch 2 and vívomove Trend: it is the rugged-looking, fitness- and outdoor-oriented option, not a like-for-like dress-watch alternative. Android Central reports Garmin battery claims of 28 days for the Instinct Crossover and 70 days for the solar version. Those figures refer to the respective variants and are advertised claims, not comparable independent battery measurements. Confirm the exact model and its features before buying; do not assume specifications transfer between Crossover variants.

How to choose between these hybrids
| Priority | Best fit in this shortlist | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| Health features with an analog-style face | Withings ScanWatch 2 | Broad listed health features and a manufacturer battery claim of up to 35 days; the small display is deliberately limited. |
| Garmin Pay, notifications, and touch menus | Garmin vívomove Trend | Garmin ecosystem features and Qi charging; advertised battery life is shorter than the ScanWatch 2 claim. |
| Rugged appearance and outdoor-oriented use | Garmin Instinct Crossover | A distinct rugged category; verify the exact variant rather than assuming all models share the same specifications. |
- Want ECG? The ScanWatch 2 lists ECG; the ScanWatch Light comparison does not. Confirm that the feature is available in your market.
- Want to read more on the watch? The vívomove Trend’s touch display provides basic menus and more room for messages; hybrids still offer less screen-first interaction than full smartwatches.
- Need phone-free safety or GPS features? Do not infer them from a hybrid’s notifications or safety tools. The Trend’s listed incident detection and live-location sharing require a paired phone, and the available information here does not establish standalone cellular connectivity or GPS for it.
- Shopping across regions? Check local feature eligibility, availability, current pricing, and, for ScanWatch 2 bands, size compatibility before purchase.
How large is the hybrid smartwatch market?
Android Central characterizes the selection as relatively small and says the category is largely served by Withings and Garmin after Fossil exited the smartwatch market. That is a time-sensitive description, not a complete inventory of every brand or model available. Treat this shortlist as a comparison of different use cases rather than proof that these are the only hybrids worth considering.
