For most UK buyers seeking a conventional premium HONOR phone, the HONOR Magic8 Pro is the best all-round choice. Pick the HONOR Magic V5 instead if a foldable phone and its larger inner screen are the main reasons you’re buying. Compare the live UK price and exact handset configuration before ordering: promotions and regional specifications can change.
Which HONOR flagship should you buy?
| Model | Best for | What sets it apart | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| HONOR Magic8 Pro | Most buyers who want a standard flagship phone | High-refresh OLED display, versatile rear cameras, 512GB storage in the reviewed configuration and fast charging | Premium price; confirm the UK battery configuration and charging accessories |
| HONOR Magic V5 | Buyers who want a phone that unfolds to a larger screen | Two OLED displays, including a 7.95-inch internal screen | Foldable form factor brings different thickness, weight, durability and price considerations |
These phones serve different priorities rather than being interchangeable versions of the same idea. The Magic8 Pro is the straightforward recommendation if you want a conventional flagship; choose the V5 because you value its foldable screen, not simply because it is another premium HONOR model. The UK-focused iD Mobile HONOR guide also identifies the Magic8 Pro as its best overall pick and the V5 as its best foldable.
Why the Magic8 Pro is the best all-round HONOR phone
TechRadar’s review describes the Magic8 Pro as a strong combination of display, performance, cameras and battery. Its listed configuration has a 6.7-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1256 × 2808 resolution, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. The review lists three rear cameras: a 50MP wide camera, 50MP ultrawide and 200MP telephoto with 3.7× optical zoom. Those features make it the more natural pick if you want one premium phone for everyday use, photography and demanding apps, without moving to a foldable design. See TechRadar’s Magic8 Pro review for its review context and specification details.

Check the battery listed for the UK version
Battery capacity figures differ by region and review unit. TechRadar lists 7,100mAh for the unit it tested but notes a 6,270mAh EU version; Android Central also gives 6,270mAh for the European configuration. For UK buying advice, check the capacity for the exact UK SKU rather than assuming the tested-unit figure applies. Sources: TechRadar and Android Central.

Understand the charging claims
TechRadar lists 120W wired and 80W wireless charging, while noting that the fastest speeds require HONOR peripherals. HONOR UK lists an optional SuperCharge Power Adapter GaN with a maximum output of 100W. Before relying on a particular charging speed, confirm compatibility with the UK handset and check whether a suitable adapter is included in the box. The HONOR UK Magic8 Pro page shows current purchase and accessory information; availability and offers can change.
When the Magic V5 is the better choice
The Magic V5 makes sense if you want a phone that opens into a larger display for reading, viewing content or working with more screen space. Tom’s Guide lists a 7.95-inch internal OLED and a 6.43-inch external OLED, both with adaptive refresh up to 120Hz, plus a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, 16GB RAM, 512GB storage and a 5,820mAh battery. Its Magic V5 review provides those specifications and its UK pricing context.

A foldable is a different form factor, so consider how often you would use the inner screen and whether the folded-device size and handling suit you. A large internal display is useful only if it fits your day-to-day use; if you mostly want a regular phone, the Magic8 Pro is the simpler choice. Check the exact model’s warranty and returns terms, and understand the seller’s coverage for the folding screen before buying.
What should you pay in the UK?
Prices are time-sensitive, especially where campaign codes, gifts or retailer promotions are involved. TechRadar reports a Magic8 Pro UK RRP of £1,099.99 and says it is often available for £899.99; treat the latter as a reported sale example, not a guaranteed current price. HONOR UK’s product page displays changing offers and purchase incentives, so check the live listing rather than relying on an old discount.

Compare the total cost, not just the headline price
- Check the current SIM-free price and whether any included gift is something you would actually use.
- If considering a contract, compare the total cost over the full term, upfront payment, data allowance and any exit or upgrade conditions. Vodafone’s HONOR phone catalogue lists HONOR handsets, including the Magic8 Pro; availability and tariffs vary.
- Check the seller, delivery, warranty and returns policy, particularly for a foldable phone.
- Verify the UK storage and battery configuration, and include the cost of a compatible charging adapter if you need one.
What to check before placing an order
- Choose the form factor: buy the Magic8 Pro for a conventional flagship; choose the V5 if the unfolding inner screen is central to your decision.
- Confirm the exact UK model: match the listing to the configuration you want, including storage and regional battery specification.
- Check the live price and bundle: compare HONOR UK’s current offer with reputable retailers or a contract’s full-term cost.
- Verify charging arrangements: check the box contents, adapter compatibility and the accessories required for the advertised top charging speeds.
- Review support terms: Android Central reports a seven-year OS update commitment for the Magic8 Pro, but check HONOR’s applicable UK terms for the exact model before treating that period as a guarantee.
