For motorcycle POV footage, GoPro’s HERO13 Black is the best-supported choice in its official motorcycle materials. It records up to 5.3K60 and includes HyperSmooth 6.0 stabilization, but those are manufacturer specifications—not proof that it outperforms every camera or will eliminate vibration on every ride. The right mount matters just as much: choose helmet-side, chest, or handlebar placement for the view you want.
Which GoPro is best for motorcycle riding?
HERO13 Black is the clearest recommendation for this use case because GoPro features it on its motorcycle page and documents its video and stabilization specifications. The camera supports up to 5.3K60, 4K120, 2.7K120, and 1080p240 recording, has HyperSmooth 6.0 stabilization, and is waterproof to 33 feet, according to GoPro’s HERO13 Black product page.
Those details make it a well-documented option for capturing rides, not an independently tested ranking. GoPro’s motorcycle page also identifies MAX2 and HERO as options, but the available specifications do not support a fair model-by-model comparison. See GoPro’s motorcycle camera recommendations.

Decide where the camera should sit before choosing accessories. Each position changes the perspective and the amount of adjustment available.

These descriptions come from GoPro’s motorcycle mounting guidance. A mount’s advertised position does not establish compatibility with every helmet or safety in every configuration. Follow the helmet maker’s instructions and applicable safety guidance; the cited materials do not assess crash safety.
When to add the Ultra Wide Lens Mod
The optional HERO13 Black Ultra Wide Lens Mod is for riders who want a broader view. GoPro describes it as providing a 177-degree field of view. On the HERO13 Black product page, GoPro says the mod expands the field of view by 36% wider and 48% taller than standard-lens footage under its stated comparison. These are manufacturer figures, not independent measurements of usable footage while riding.

The wider perspective may include more of the surroundings, but whether it suits a particular shot depends on framing and the scene. The mod is specific to HERO13 Black. GoPro’s 2024 announcement listed a U.S. launch price of $99.99; that is historical launch pricing, not a current price. See the 2024 HERO13 Black announcement.
Plan for power on longer rides
HERO13 Black uses a 1900mAh Enduro battery that GoPro says is not compatible with older GoPros. Its product page lists up to 2.5 hours of continuous recording under specified conditions; the figure should not be treated as guaranteed runtime for every resolution, temperature, or riding setup.

GoPro’s 2024 announcement gives more specific manufacturer test figures: up to 2.5 hours at 1080p30 and up to 1.5 hours at 4K30 or 5.3K30. Those figures describe the stated recording modes, not a promise of ride time. For a powered setup, GoPro describes its Contacto Magnetic Door and Power Cable Kit as a way to power HERO13 Black from a USB-C source through a magnetic door. Check the current product details and plan cable placement so it does not interfere with riding.

GoPro’s motorcycle page lists a Moto Bundle containing HERO13 Black, the Ultra Wide Lens Mod, adhesive mounts, the Helmet Front + Side Mount, and a camera case. Bundle contents can vary by market and change, so confirm the live listing in your region before buying. The page also describes a six-pack of curved and flat adhesive mounts for helmet, chin guard, and motorcycle placement; use them only where the helmet or equipment maker permits.

GoPro’s official materials document intended uses and product specifications, but do not establish that these mounts are safe in every configuration or that a camera is suitable for every helmet. The pages also do not establish a global increase in motorcycle-rider adoption or popularity, so popularity should not be treated as a verified statistic.
