DuckDuckGo’s NoAI search is the clearest documented choice if you want conventional web results without its AI answer features. Open noai.duckduckgo.com rather than relying on a saved preference: DuckDuckGo says this route avoids Search Assist answers, AI-generated images, and Duck.ai prompts and entry points. It also says it filters out as much AI-generated content as possible, but that is a best-effort filter, not a guarantee that every AI-created page or snippet disappears.
Other services can still be worth considering, but their controls need more qualification. Brave Search displays an “Answer with AI” feature, yet the available documentation does not establish a comprehensive switch that suppresses generated answers everywhere. Kagi includes an AI for instant answers and is funded by subscriptions; its current ability to disable every AI answer was not established. Startpage and Ecosia should be checked against their current official settings before you treat either as AI-free.
What “search without AI answers” actually means
People use “without AI” to describe several different requirements. Separating them prevents a search engine from meeting one requirement while failing another.
No generated answer box
A generated answer box writes a response above or beside ordinary links. It may combine information from several pages, summarize a query, or invite a follow-up question. If your goal is to read source pages yourself, the key control is whether this answer layer can be turned off or avoided.

No AI-generated images or assistant prompts
Some search interfaces add image creation, conversational prompts, or an assistant entry point even when the main results are conventional links. DuckDuckGo specifically identifies AI-generated images and Duck.ai prompts as features avoided by its NoAI route.
Filtering AI-written pages from the index
This is a different and harder promise. A search service can try to filter pages it believes were generated by AI, but it cannot reliably identify every use of generative software. - Bookmark that address or make it your search start page if you want the same route every time.

Investigate Brave when an optional answer button is acceptable

Choose either only if its own current documentation answers your exact questions about generated answers and other AI features. Do not rely on an old comparison, an unlabeled browser option, or a claim that the service is “traditional” search.
