Glasses designed for a low nose bridge or higher cheekbones can help prevent frames from sliding, sitting too low, or pressing on the cheeks. These fit needs are not exclusive to people of Asian heritage, and no “Asian fit” or “low bridge fit” label guarantees that a particular frame will suit every wearer. Compare the frame’s support and how it sits on your face.
What does “Asian fit” mean?
“Asian fit” is a label some eyewear brands use for frames adapted to fit needs such as a lower nose bridge and/or higher cheekbones. It is not a single standard, and people with these facial features come from many backgrounds. A brand’s label describes its own design approach rather than promising a universal fit. See Maui Jim’s explanation of Asian Fit and Ray-Ban’s frame-fit guide.
Which frame features can help?
Larger built-in nose pads
Some low-bridge-fit frames use larger built-in pads to change how the frame is supported on the nose. This may help keep the frame at a more comfortable height. JINS describes this approach in its low-bridge-fit collection.

Separate adjustable pads can be fine-tuned to the wearer’s nose shape. They are an alternative to relying on the frame’s built-in bridge support; the right choice depends on how an individual frame sits. JINS explains this option on its alternative-fit page.

- Suitable for everyday wear and outdoor activities
Other design changes
Some brand-specific Asian-fit styles also adjust the bridge or pad area, temple length, frame-front width or shape, and materials. Maui Jim describes these as features of some of its designs, not a universal specification for Asian-fit frames.
How to check whether glasses fit your face
- Check the frame’s position. It should sit at a comfortable height and stay in place rather than sliding down your nose.
- Check cheek clearance. Look for contact between your cheeks and the lower rim or lenses, particularly when you smile. The frame should not rest awkwardly on your cheeks.
- Check the temples. The sides should feel comfortable; temple length and frame-front shape vary by model.
- Compare the actual frame, not just the label. Use the brand’s fit details as a starting point, then judge whether that frame works for you. Ray-Ban’s size guide and JINS’s low-bridge-fit collection describe fit features to consider.
Should you choose universal fit glasses?
“Universal fit” is another fit label, not proof that a frame will suit everyone. If frames slide down, sit too low, or touch your cheeks, compare their bridge support and pad construction with other options. An adjustable-pad design may offer a different kind of support from a frame with larger built-in pads; assess the individual frame on your face rather than relying on the category name.

What public health guidance says about nose pads
For students with a flat nose, Hong Kong’s Student Health Service advises choosing frames with nose pads to help secure them and prevent them from sliding down or sitting too close to the face. This is practical guidance for the students it addresses, not a claim that one frame design is right for every wearer. Read the Student Health Service guidance.

Search for low bridge fit eyeglasses or Asian fit glasses to find frames marketed for these fit needs. Adjustable-nose-pad eyeglasses are another category to compare. These terms help identify designs, but they do not establish that a particular listing is in stock, offers prescription lenses, or will fit you. Check the individual frame’s construction and fit details, and confirm the retailer’s current return policy and any optician adjustment service before buying.
