If you want an RPG like The Witcher 3, start with Cyberpunk 2077 for the closest open-world, central-story match; pick Dragon Age: Inquisition for fantasy characters and consequential decisions. Dragon Age: Inquisition is the fantasy pick for players drawn to complex characters, a broad world, and difficult decisions. BioWare describes it as story-driven and open-world, but that does not establish that its map or exploration works like The Witcher 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is the choice for player freedom and story-reactive decisions, provided you are comfortable with a Dungeons & Dragons party-based RPG. If what you most want is to control one character through interactive real-time combat, its different structure is an important distinction to check before choosing.

The official description frames The Witcher 3 as a dark-fantasy open-world RPG built around plot-driven role-playing and player choice. Bandai Namco Europe estimates “over 100 hours of core and side-quest gameplay” for the Complete Edition and “an extra 50 hours of gameplay” from its two story expansions.
