If End of Abyss appeals because it blends sci-fi action horror with exploration and survival pressure, start with Dead Space (2023), Alien: Isolation, or Signalis. They each capture a different part of that appeal; none is a direct match for its top-down, metroidvania-style structure.
What makes a game feel like End of Abyss?
End of Abyss follows a character descending into a sprawling complex, fighting threats, upgrading gear, using a scanner and newly unlocked tools, and reopening routes to hidden areas. Xbox Wire describes its design as a top-down metroidvania with action-horror elements. The Xbox Series X|S launch was reported for October 1, 2026; platform availability can vary by territory, so check the local store listing. PlayStation’s End of Abyss listing and Xbox Wire’s developer interview provide the game details and design context. The developer site identifies Epic Games Publishing as publisher: Section 9 Interactive.
The closest recommendations depend on which part you want to keep: equipment-focused survival horror, a threatening alien presence, or psychological science-fiction dread. The games below differ in viewpoint, pace, combat, and exploration, so treat them as neighboring experiences rather than substitutes with identical mechanics.

| Game | Best match for | Key difference from End of Abyss |
|---|---|---|
| Dead Space (2023) | Creature-filled sci-fi survival horror, a confined spaceship, and equipment upgrades | Third-person survival horror rather than top-down metroidvania exploration |
| Alien: Isolation | Sustained tension around a dangerous alien in a space-station setting | Choose it for atmosphere and threat, not an assumed match in combat or exploration |
| Signalis | Dystopian, psychological science-fiction survival horror | A thematic match with different presentation and mechanics |
Dead Space (2023): for combat, upgrades, and grotesque threats
Choose the 2023 remake if you want a hostile spaceship, grotesque alien enemies, and gear upgrades at the center of a sci-fi survival-horror experience. Space.com’s February 23, 2026 feature describes its abandoned-starship atmosphere, alien abominations, and equipment upgrades: Space.com’s sci-fi games feature.
#1 Best Overall
- STANDALONE NEMESIS ADVENTURE: Experience the third installment in the acclaimed Nemesis series, fully playable on its own with no previous game required.
- ELITE MARINES VS ALIEN HORDE: Lead highly trained marines into a dangerous alien nest armed with advanced equipment, powerful weapons, and strict orders.
- SURVIVAL WITH HIDDEN BETRAYAL: Complete personal objectives while facing overwhelming threats, where allies may secretly become traitors.
- NEW & ENHANCED GAMEPLAY SYSTEMS: Features a reworked health system, expanded character actions, item management track, and exploration-driven gameplay.
- MODULAR SCI-FI HORROR EXPERIENCE: Dynamic map layouts and special exploration cards create unique scenarios and high replayability in every session.
It is the strongest pick here for creature encounters and equipment-driven survival, but its third-person viewpoint and survival-horror structure are different from End of Abyss’s top-down metroidvania design.
Alien: Isolation: for an ever-present stalking threat
Pick Alien: Isolation if the appeal is being trapped in a space station with a dangerous alien and the tension that creates. GamesRadar+’s 2026 sci-fi games feature identifies it as a sci-fi game and gives its release date as October 7, 2014: GamesRadar+’s sci-fi games feature.

- PERFECT GIFT FOR FANS & COLLECTORS: Whether you’re showing off your tabletop setup or rewarding dedicated horror/sci-fi gamers, this expansion adds flair and style to any gaming shelf.
- LIMITED EDITION IMPACT: With small-batch runs and niche appeal, this add-on is a standout piece for those who appreciate the finer details of board-game craftsmanship and the atmospheric universe of Nemesis.
This is an atmosphere-and-threat recommendation. The available comparison does not establish that its combat or exploration matches End of Abyss, so it is a better choice for suspense than for a similar action or backtracking loop.

- Choose Dead Space (2023) if you want the clearest combination of hostile sci-fi setting, dangerous creatures, survival-horror pressure, and gear upgrades.
- Choose Alien: Isolation if suspense around a powerful alien threat matters more than matching the action and exploration.
- Choose Signalis if you want dystopian science-fiction horror with a more psychological emphasis.
There is no single closest match across every axis: Dead Space is the more direct action-survival comparison, Alien: Isolation foregrounds tension, and Signalis leans into psychological themes. That distinction matters if what you liked most about End of Abyss was its specific top-down, tool-unlocking, path-reopening structure.
